Bringing Community Together Late last year, we invited you to participate in our community survey to better understand your experience with our services at the library. We know it takes time to fill out a survey, so we thank all those who shared their thoughts, experiences and ideas for future offerings. Eighty-nine percent of respondents say they are satisfied or delighted with the library which was great to see. Many look forward to “getting back to normal” which is a sentiment all of us share. As we look ahead, we are tremendously excited about the programs and services that are planned. To name a few: • Zoom programs will continue as a program format as this form of programming expands our reach to community members who cannot visit the library. • The Middle Ground staff continues to offer activities for middle school students. • Every Trail Has a Story is our new Summer Library Adventure theme. Mark your calendars and stop by the library for kick-off week starting June 6. We invite you to stop by the library at any time. Our staff is ready to serve you.
• ESL classes will resume as in-person programs. Check page 19 for more information. • The play area in Youth Services is once again open. Bring your young reader to enjoy the ball maze machine, sit in one of our comfortable chairs to enjoy reading together, and stretch imaginations through creative play and art-making.
CIVIC SPOTLIGHT BRINGS COMMUNITY TOGETHER The Library partnered with the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago (KCCoC) for a book discussion and watch party featuring author Cathy Park Hong, interviewed by Chicago journalist Monica Eng. This program was presented in partnership with multiple Chicago area libraries. Ms. Hong discussed her New York Times best-selling book Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning. After the program, participants shared their personal experiences of being a Korean immigrant arriving in America. They shared details of their working experiences, daily living and their observations on American culture and Korean pride.

StoryWalk
Spring is for StoryWalks! Celebrate the warmer weather with the Indian Trails Library StoryWalk® at Green Lake Park 1101 Green Knolls Dr., Buffalo Grove. Our spring story is extraordinary because There’s a Dragon in Your Book! author Tom Fletcher has created a silly, interactive story about a baby dragon hatching from an egg who needs your help to fly away safely.
A StoryWalk® combines literacy with physical activity as families walk along an accessible trail, reading as they go. Start with the welcome post and follow the path to find the next page. Kids love the anticipation of finding all the story posts and finishing a whole book by the end of their walk.
