MY LIBRARY
FOUNDATION
T
his year the Foundation is raising funds to support The Longest Table event, a public, non-partisan event where residents from all cultures, religions and ethnicities come together over a shared meal to engage in meaningful conversations. The goal is to offset the costs of this ticketed event and to provide each attendee with a book. The event is scheduled for summer 2020. On April 3 and May 11, The Longest Table initiative kicked off with two community conversations. Library donors, volunteers and members were invited to participate in a small group to talk about community aspirations and how
to have civil conversations about difficult community issues. Input from these conversations will help shape the Civic Spotlight programs (see page 14) and the main Longest Table event next summer. The next community conversation will be held Tuesday, August 27, 7 pm. Registration for this program begins May 15. Your input on the issues facing our community and how we employ civility in our community is important. Learn more and donate to The Longest Table on the library’s website.
