T

he air is crisp and there’s a salted caramel mocha calling my name. Pretty soon, we’ll be digging out our sweaters and missing summer. This is the time of year I find myself thinking back on all the good things that happened in the past twelve months. Even in this year of uncertainty, there are many things I’m thankful for: n Members who brought boxes and bags of food to the library to be donated to the Wheeling Township Food Pantry, which was hard hit by increased use during the pandemic. n Everyone who discovered and bought books at our first Pop-up Used Book Sale. n Staff who pivoted quickly after we closed to figure how to move our programs online. For many of them it was the first time they had filmed a video or used Zoom. Staff also spent time while we were closed to make masks and face shields so we could safely reopen in July. n Donors who supported the Indian Trails Library Foundation by purchasing a brick for the Reading Garden, making a general donation or participating in a restaurant fundraiser. n Residents who shared comments via email and social media thanking us for reopening and providing the opportunity to check out material or use a computer. We’ll enter 2021 stronger and more resilient. We are bursting with ideas on how we reinvent our services to continue to serve our community whether in the building or virtually. 2020 did not go as planned but when the day comes when we can all gather again in our beautiful library, we will do so with joy and gratitude. Warmest wishes to you and your family,
