Without Borders
Goa, the tiniest state on the western coast of India, boasts golden pristine beaches, palmfringed avenues, flavourful food, delicious Portuguese-influenced sweets, and warm, hospitable people. Also known as the Ibiza of India for its partying. A tropical paradise of flora and fauna, from the very famous 'almi' (mushrooms) endemic to its forests, that grow only on the red mud anthills, to the solar prawns that are fished immediately after the monsoons, Goa is unique. Tourists are also attracted to Goa for its cultural heritage - from the famous old Portuguese churches like Se Cathedral in Old Goa, the 16th Century Safa Masjid in Ponda and Shree Mangesha Temple in Mardol, the legendary Arvalem or Pandava Caves where the Pandavas of the Mahabharat fame lived, to its two unique festivalsCarnival and Shigmo. Goa plays host to many festivals - the International Film Festival of India that promotes cinema, the Serendipity Art Festival, Sunburn Music Festival, The Grape Escapade to name a few. To showcase this varied heritage of culture, art, tradition, food, and people, in 2015 ItsGoa was born. The main aim was to make it the premier portal for all things Goa. We were able to showcase Goa like never before. Soon our blog-based website transcended the virtual space, with the ItsGoa magazine – a sought-after resource for visitors to Goa from countries like Norway, Germany, UK, USA, UAE, etc.

Milin M. Tendulkar, a model and animal rescuer, defies age barriers with passion, resilience, and compassion, excelling in fashion, fitness, and philanthropy while embracing his unique style and global ambitions.
Milin M. Tendulkar, a name that has recently begun to turn heads in the modeling industry, has lived a life full of varied passions, perseverance, and a deep connection to his surroundings. At 43 years old, Milin is a resident of Uccasiam Bardez in Goa, a man whose journey has been as dynamic as it is inspiring. While he may be best known for his modeling career, particularly for his remarkable win as Mr. Beard India, Milin is also an avid animal lover, fitness enthusiast, and someone who has embraced every opportunity with zeal.
Milin’s passion for the glamour world ignited back in 2017 when he participated in his first runway show for Goa Fashion Couture. This prestigious event, organized by the renowned Hema Nagvenkar, was the beginning of a career that would see Milin rise in the fashion world. His first major break, however, came in 2018 when he competed in the Mr. Beard India contest, representing Goa. Against 20 fierce competitors in Rajasthan, Milin clinched the title of Mr. Beard India, marking a pivotal moment in his career. It was not just a victory; it was a declaration that age is not a barrier when it comes to following your passion.
His modeling career continued to flourish, and in 2022, Milin walked the runway at the International Designer League in Dubai, further establishing himself as an international model with a global presence. These milestones have not only made him a popular face in the industry but have also turned him into a role model for those who dream of succeeding in a competitive world.
When asked about his style, Milin is quick to point out that being yourself is the key. His signature "salt and pepper" beard, which he proudly flaunts, has become a part of his identity. "My beard and hair are what make me stand out," he says with a smile. This authenticity, coupled with his natural confidence, has become his trademark in the world of fashion. Milin’s look is not just about being fashionable; it’s about embracing what makes him unique.
He also has a deep appreciation for vintage and retro fashion trends. These styles, according to Milin, offer a sense of nostalgia while allowing for selfexpression. While he enjoys experimenting with various designs, Milin’s ethnic wear choices are often drawn from Studio T, a brand he admires. However, he is not limited to high-end designer labels; he also enjoys picking up clothing from random online stores, always looking for something that fits his personality and mood.
Staying fit and active is integral to Milin's lifestyle. He understands the importance of maintaining both mental and physical health. To keep his body in top shape, Milin incorporates a variety of activities into his routine. In the mornings, he enjoys a game of badminton, which not only helps him stay agile but also serves as a way to unwind.
Cycling is another activity he loves, as it allows him to explore his surroundings while keeping fit. Along with these, Milin engages in moderate workouts, balancing his fitness regimen with his busy schedule.
Fitness is not just about aesthetics for Milin; it's about health, endurance, and the sense of wellbeing that comes from being active. His dedication to fitness is just another aspect of his personality that shows his commitment to self-care and balance in life.
Overcoming Challenges: Confidence in the Face of Age
Milin’s modeling career was not without challenges. One of the biggest obstacles he faced was age. Many industry standards are set by younger models, which sometimes creates barriers for those who start their careers later in life. Milin, however, has always been a strong believer in the idea that age is just a number.
His experience has taught him that self-belief and confidence are the real factors that drive success. "It's never too late to pursue what you truly want in life," he says. This mindset has been a crucial part of his journey, allowing him to tackle any challenge with resilience and positivity.
Moreover, his work in TV commercials further amplified his career. One of the standout moments in Milin’s professional life was featuring in a commercial for the well-known brand Ajio. This was just the beginning of many exciting opportunities, with more TV commercials and collaborations in the pipeline. He has also been approached by casting agencies in the South Indian film industry, something that Milin is eager to explore in the near future.
Milin’s career and personal journey have been greatly influenced by the hard work and dedication of his role models. In his earlier years, he looked up to figures like Arjun Rampal, Milind Soman, and John Abraham, whose success in the industry inspired him to chase his own dreams. However, in the present, Milin draws much of his motivation from his friend and brother, Prathamesh Maulingkar, who he believes embodies dedication and perseverance.
Having closely witnessed Prathamesh’s rise, Milin admires his friend's journey and the lessons it offers. Milin’s motivational mantra revolves around selfbelief. He emphasizes the importance of staying grounded and focused, no matter the circumstances. “Always believe in yourself,” he advises. This attitude has not only helped him succeed in his career but has also empowered him to push past obstacles that might have stopped others in their tracks.
Beyond the glamour of the modeling industry, Milin’s true passion lies in animal welfare. His love for animals, particularly stray cats and dogs, has led him to dedicate a significant portion of his life to rescuing and caring for these animals. Over the years, Milin has rescued numerous animals from the streets and given them a home. Currently, he has over 30 cats and 35 dogs under his care, providing them with food, shelter, and medical attention.
For Milin, caring for animals is not about charity; it’s about love and responsibility. He ensures that the strays in his locality are well taken care of by feeding them and providing medical help when necessary. His commitment to this cause is evident, and he believes that people should do their part to ensure that animals are treated with kindness and respect. In addition to caring for his own pets, Milin actively supports initiatives like Food Bank, a project led by his friend DJ Rinton, where he donates food and other essential items to those in need.
While Milin is often seen as a serious, focused individual, those who know him best would describe him as a fun-loving person who loves to joke around. His playful and sometimes naughty side brings out his charismatic nature. Many people, upon first meeting him, might mistake his quiet demeanor for arrogance. However, once they get to know him, they quickly realize that Milin is a warm and approachable individual who spreads positivity and love wherever he goes.
His ideal way to unwind after a busy day involves heading to his favorite spot, Cajy Bar, where he spends time with close friends and family. The place provides him with the relaxation he needs, and the laughter shared with loved ones helps him recharge for the next day.
Looking ahead, Milin’s goals remain as ambitious as ever. He is focused on expanding his career, particularly by exploring more international modeling
events and continuing his work in TV commercials. He is also keen to make a mark in the South Indian film industry, an opportunity that excites him immensely.
Milin’s journey is a testament to the fact that with hard work, self-belief, and a heart full of passion, one can achieve anything. His story is a reminder that no matter how tough the road may seem, staying true to yourself and your dreams will always lead to success.
Milin M. Tendulkar’s life is a perfect example of how passion, dedication, and compassion can shape a person’s journey. From his career in modeling to his unwavering love for animals, Milin has proven that it’s never too late to chase your dreams and make a meaningful difference.
His story is one of resilience, kindness, and a reminder that we all have the power to create the life we desire.

The life of a chef is often grueling, marked by long hours and the physical demands of the kitchen. However, she advocates for self-care, encouraging others to take breaks, maintain mental well-being, and surround themselves with supportive individuals. Zenobia emphasizes the importance of finding balance in a profession that can often feel overwhelming.

She considers food writing to be a form of storytelling, and her work reflects her passion for understanding the history and cultural significance behind the dishes she creates. A self-professed "research nerd," Zenobia treats food exploration with the same rigor as academic study, utilizing platforms like Google Scholar to research new cuisines and trends.
In Zenobia’s view, food is not just about recipes—it's about creativity and pushing boundaries. Just as in fashion and art, the culinary world demands experimentation. Zenobia encourages aspiring chefs to take risks and learn from their mistakes. She believes that food is an evolving art form, and staying curious and open-minded is key to remaining relevant in the ever-changing culinary landscape.
Zenobia’s culinary philosophy centers around the idea that food is more than just sustenance—it’s a connection to people, places, and histories. Through her dedication to preserving Goan food culture, her innovative dishes, and her commitment to sustainability, Zenobia continues to leave her mark on the culinary world. For Zenobia, food is not just about what we eat—it’s about understanding who we are, where we come from, and the stories we share with others.

Exploring Adventures: The Goa Motorcycle Club Story
Peter Fernandes, a passionate sports administrator from Mapusa, Goa, has worn many hats in his professional journey. With a rich career that includes roles as a program manager for FIFA, ISL, Khelo Rugby, the Sports Authority of Goa, and Deloitte, Peter has always had a keen interest in sports and community building. Currently, he is channeling his energy into setting up a basketball academy in Sangti, Arunachal Pradesh, alongside a colleague from Assam. Beyond his professional endeavors, Peter is an avid motorcyclist and the visionary founder of the Goa Motorcycle Club (Goa MC). His love for motorcycling extends to leading group rides for KTM and Triumph India as part of their Pan India Pro-XP Rides.
The idea for the Goa Motorcycle Club stemmed from Peter’s dream of building a community of serious riding enthusiasts in Goa, free from biases of background, profession, or societal status. The journey began in 2013 with a close-knit group of 5-7 riders, calling themselves the Locos, embarking on full-day Sunday rides. Over time, their knack for curating off-beat and adventurous routes inspired them to offer similar experiences to like-minded riders across Goa. Officially founded on September 13, 2020, the Goa Motorcycle Club started with an inaugural ride of 13 riders. Today, it boasts 216 members, 42 curated rides, and an impressive 12,645 kilometers covered. The club’s ethos is rooted in exploring the unknown, fostering camaraderie, and sharing the pure joy of motorcycling.
The Goa Motorcycle Club is dedicated to providing riders with an authentic motorcycling experience. Each Sunday ride is meticulously planned, ranging from 250-450 kilometers, with routes that showcase pristine villages, off-road trails, and breathtaking landscapes. The long-term vision is to create a strong community bonded by a shared passion for
motorcycling and its values, leaving behind discussions of personal and professional lives during their adventures.
Goa MC attracts riders with a deep passion for adventure and exceptional riding skills. Members come from diverse backgrounds, united by their love for motorcycling. The club has a structured membership process where riders earn a coveted Goa MC patch after completing a minimum of 10 rides and 3,000 kilometers. With members hailing from 11 Indian states, the club celebrates inclusivity, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among its riders.
Building the Goa Motorcycle Club came with its challenges, particularly balancing full-time jobs with the responsibilities of running a club. Consistency, dedication, and the right partnerships were key to overcoming these hurdles. Early collaborations with Bisontes Locos MC, Goa.me, and Numadic provided vital support in ride curation, branding, and social media outreach. The club’s partnership with India Bike Week in 2022 elevated its profile nationally, establishing it as a prominent name in India’s motorcycling community.
Safety is paramount at Goa MC, with all participants required to wear full riding gear and have prior riding experience. The club emphasizes discipline on rides, ensuring every member’s safety. Additionally, Goa
MC is committed to sustainable practices, promoting zero-waste rides, avoiding plastics, and respecting the environment and local communities at every stop.
Goa M organi es a variety of events, including Sunday Rides: Spanning 250-450 kilometers across Goa, Maharashtra, and Karnataka Workshops: Off-road training sessions with renowned riders like Bhumik Lalwani Goa Riding School: A training program for beginners, especially women, to learn geared motorcycling ollaborations: urating rideouts for the India Bike Week and participating in major motorcycling events.
Fostering inter club friendships
The club plays a significant role in promoting tourism by showcasing lesser-known parts of Goa, from pristine villages to wildlife sanctuaries. During rides, members explore offbeat trails, dine at local homes, and experience authentic Goan hospitality, fostering a deeper connection with the state’s culture.
Every ride organized by Goa MC offers a unique adventure. Some standout experiences include a monsoon ride through Maharashtra’s ghats, featuring 42 waterfalls, a scenic journey along the Maharashtra coastline, and a challenging 555kilometer highway ride in Karnataka. These adventures highlight the club’s commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences.
Looking to the future, Goa MC plans to maintain its tradition of Sunday rides while expanding to multiday tours in Karnataka and Maharashtra in 2025. The club also envisions organizing long-distance tours across India, starting with an exploratory ride to Arunachal Pradesh.
The Goa Motorcycle Club exemplifies the spirit of adventure, camaraderie, and a shared love for motorcycling. Under Peter Fernandes’ leadership, the club has grown into a thriving community, setting new benchmarks for motorcycling culture in Goa and beyond. Whether it’s exploring hidden trails, promoting responsible riding, or building lasting friendships, Goa MC continues to inspire riders to embrace the open road and the joy of the journey.

A self-proclaimed foodie, Saish's love for trying new cuisines was the driving force behind his decision to start sharing his experiences through food blogging. What started as a personal hobby quickly transformed into a well-recognized platform for sharing food experiences, reviews, and tips. With over a year and a half of blogging experience, Saish has successfully merged his love for food with his flair for content creation.
Saish’s food blogging journey began with his curiosity for discovering diverse tastes. As a content
creator, he had already established himself before venturing into food blogging. However, it was his desire to share his gastronomic experiences that sparked the creation of his food blog. "Being a foodie person, I was always eager to try different foods, which gave me the idea of sharing my food experiences with others," Saish explains. This passion for food led him to document his discoveries and share them with a wider audience, paving the way for his blog's growth.
Saish’s rise in the food blogging community is an inspiring tale of serendipity and hard work. One of his most notable moments came unexpectedly. "It was just a random shoot. No expectations, no planning, nothing," Saish recalls. A simple video turned out to be a huge success, going viral with a reach of 300k.
What started as a spontaneous shoot helped not only Saish but also the restaurant featured in the video. His approach to authentic, honest reviews, combined with his engaging presentation style, turned an impromptu video into a viral sensation.
When it comes to food blogging, Saish predominantly focuses on restaurant reviews. Through these reviews, he not only shares his culinary experiences but also helps others navigate the dining scene. His goal is to give people an authentic look at what to expect when visiting a particular restaurant. By highlighting factors such as ambiance, food quality, and service, Saish allows his followers to make informed decisions about where to dine.
"My primary aim is to help people know about the taste, location, and pricing of different places. I make sure to highlight the most important aspects that my audience will find useful," Saish explains. This approach has made his restaurant reviews an essential resource for both food lovers and restaurant owners looking to attract more customers.
One of the defining characteristics of Saish's food blogging journey is his open-minded approach to different cuisines. His blog features reviews from a variety of cuisines, ranging from local Goan delicacies to international fare. "I prefer every variety of cuisine because it allows me to experience diverse tastes and explore new food cultures," Saish states. This exploration of global flavors not only enriches his own food experiences but also provides his audience with a broader perspective on food from around the world.
Saish believes that food should be celebrated for its diversity, and by trying new cuisines, he gains a deeper understanding of different cultures. This curiosity has not only helped Saish expand his palate but also allowed him to bring fresh, exciting content to his followers, keeping them engaged and informed.
While food blogging may appear spontaneous, Saish’s success lies in the meticulous planning behind each piece of content. He takes time to ensure that every shoot is well thought out, from deciding where to shoot to selecting the right time. "It’s all about planning—deciding when to shoot, where to shoot, and making sure the location is available," Saish shares. This careful planning ensures that his content is both professional and consistent, allowing him to deliver quality content to his audience.
Throughout his journey, Saish has consistently engaged with his audience, making them an integral part of his food blogging experience. Their feedback and preferences play a crucial role in guiding the type of content he creates. "My audience has greatly influenced my blogging journey," he says.
Their input helps him decide which cuisines to explore, what topics to cover, and how to present his content in a way that resonates with them. By keeping an open line of communication with his followers, Saish has been able to build a community that is both supportive and interactive.
Collaboration is another cornerstone of Saish’s food blogging journey. He has worked with various restaurants, food brands, and fellow bloggers, leveraging these partnerships to expand his reach and grow his influence.
Saish is selective about the collaborations he engages in, ensuring that they align with his values and resonate with his audience. "I look for partnerships that allow creative freedom and align with my values," he explains. These collaborations have allowed Saish to diversify his content, connect with like-minded individuals, and offer fresh perspectives to his followers.

Carlos Gonsalves integrates Goa’s heritage instrument, the ghumot, into Susmit Sen Chronicles’ album Azaadi, promotes sustainable alternatives, and advocates for its global recognition and preservation through education and awareness.

An age-old percussion instrument synonymous with Goan music culture, the ghumot, which was declared Goa’s heritage instrument in 2019, continues to live on through celebrated Goan percussionist Carlos Gonsalves’ adopting and adapting its classic sound for contemporary music, most recently noted in Susmit Sen Chronicles’ latest album ‘Azaadi’ (Freedom).
As part of the band, Susmit Sen Chronicles, founded by Indian fusion rock maestro Susmit Sen, Gonsalves’ playing of the ghumot (an earthen potshaped percussion instrument with a membrane stretched over the vessel’s mouth) makes a significant contribution to the album, Azaadi. Susmit Sen Chronicles delivered an electric performance, including tracks from the album, at the ‘Concert for Goa’ at the Museum of Goa (MOG), Pilerne, on January 25.
Gonsalves says he was compelled to introduce the ghumot to the album after being inspired by the Goan flavour in the tracklist, which includes two Konkani tracks, ‘Saiba Tandela’ (Master Boatman) and ‘Kuvar’ (The Prince), written by Goan songwriter Umesh Sardessai, the son of Goa’s Lok Kavi Manohar Rai Sardessai.
“When the tracks for Azaadi were being discussed and I heard the Konkani lyrics and accompanying melodies, I could hear my Goan roots shine and immediately pictured myself adding the ghumot’s beats. On playing it in the studio, which was wellreceived, I got the go-ahead to experiment and added my improvisation,” he says.
Susmit Sen Chronicles’ album, which was unveiled and performed with a number of other tracks on the eve of Republic Day at MOG, marked a momentous occasion for both the museum, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and the band.
“The album Azaadi is a fusion of cultures, and on the title track, I fuse the drums and the ghumot in a short solo. This mixing of cultures is a reflection of MOG’s ethos, which makes it the ideal location for this performance, especially in front of the ‘Carpet of Joy’. Different forms of art and creativity converge at MOG, which creates a strong connection between
the museum, the music and instruments played,” he muses.
Renowned as the cheer drummer for the state’s Indian Super League football club FC Goa and professional franchise cricket team Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gonsalves is also recognised for his contributions to the field of music as a percussionist and for assisting in finding a sustainable substitute for the endangered monitor lizard skin membrane of the ghumot. He was recently conferred the prestigious REX Karmaveer Jyoti award, which was instituted as a tribute to former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam.
“We had several discussions with relevant authorities to find a sustainable alternative for the skin of the monitor lizard, which is currently endangered due to rampant wildlife trafficking. The ghumot has also been granted heritage status without the monitor lizard skin, which is good. At present, we are utilising goat skin, which comes quite close sonically,” Gonsalves states.
Gonsalves is eager to raise a new generation of ghumot players to ensure that the instrument's legacy does not die. “I have put in a request to the state government to introduce this instrument in schools and encourage children to play. Every year, I go to the Nirmala Institute of Education in Altinho and teach them to play the ghumot; at present, the institution has invested in 60 to 70 ghumots, which is wonderful,” he says.
Through his ‘Taking Gumot to the World’ project, Gonsalves has been raising awareness about the percussive versatility of the ghumot wherever he travels, having gifted one to legendary American jazz fusion drummer Dave Weckl. He is also looking to follow a similar trajectory to the late Ustad Zakir Hussain, who introduced the tabla to the world, and encouraged Gonsalves to do the same with the ghumot.
“Zakir bhai (brother) was a good friend of mine. He told me, ‘Carlos, God has given you a small but great treasure in the form of your musical talent, and I treasure what you have.’ This has always inspired and encouraged me to continue playing,” Gonsalves concludes.
