Hammerhead Roof & Exterior Cleaning Has You Covered! Owner, Joe Marchiselli, has paved the way to clean surroundings with a SoftWash System™ that eliminates dirt, stains, mold, and algae that may be destroying the aesthetic appearance and structural integrity of your roof and your home. Did you know that those stains may represent a type of algae that feeds on the filler between asphalt shingles? Not only does the algae create a nasty, black appearance as it destroys your roof, according to Hammerhead’s website, the “algae dislodges the granules that protect and give color to your shingles and reduces the lifespan of your roof.”

Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA).

You can rest assured that all Hammerhead employees h a v e passed a thorough criminal background check and been approved by Ask the Seal, and have received the “Seal o f Approval” before being issued photo identification. This insures that you can trust our team members on your property or in your home or office! Hammerhead Roof & Structure Softwash is located at 3152 Little Rd, #213, Trinity. To schedule a FREE in-home or in-office estimate, call 800-700-4140. Learn more about this exclusive Softwash system by visiting hammerheadsoftwash.com, or email: info@hammerheadsoftwash.com.

If that’s not scary enough, this fungal infestation can do more damage after pressure washing. Pressure washing will further spread the fungal spores throughout the area in question, causing even more problems in the future.

The SoftWash System™ uses a mix of biodegradable ‘mildewcides’, algaecides, soaps and low-pressure pumps for a deep clean that kills 100% of the algae without damaging your roof or your structural exterior,” Joe explains. “Unlike pressure washing we pump from a 12-volt system. This means there is no damage from over use of pressure. Our Surfactant lasts up to 6 times longer than pressure washing and comes with a 5-year warranty. Plus, we avoid walking roofs as much as possible, especially barrel tiles,” Joe added. Hammerhead Roof & Structure Softwash services include cleaning pool decks & cages, sidewalks, driveways, pavers, fences, residential & commercial exteriors, mobile home exteriors, decks, docks, playground equipment and more! To become a Softwash Systems approved company you have to maintain a 50 point checklist that includes standards of excellence in professionalism, equipment usage and maintenance, chemical handling & applications, safety, and education.” Throughout this extensive list, employees are encouraged to stay current and follow all regulations set forth by the Asphalt

Another Happy Roof!

I am the President of our Homeowners Association in Fl. I heard about Hammerhead Softwash through a friend who had contacted them to clean their roofs. After meeting with Joe Marchiselli, and having a demo section of my roof done for no charge, I was thrilled with the outcome and immediately contracted them to do all 20 units in our complex. Needless to say, our residents were thrilled with the job they did. Their staff were extremely polite and helpful. They even moved and put back furniture and plants while doing the work. Our members immediately phoned me and wanted to pay right away and couldn’t believe the price. We had our roofs cleaned 3 years ago by a pressure washing company and weren’t happy with the result. Hammerhead’s job by far excelled our previous cleaning and we are very happy to recommend them to anyone. -John Strong, President Holiday Issue 2013 3 www.ItsYourHomeMagazine.com

Dedicated to Wellness Dr. Stephen Unger, Florida Wellness & Rehab As a chiropractor, Dr. Stephen Unger focuses his professional attention on backs. However, both personally and professionally, Dr Unger practices giving back every chance he gets!

to Trinity. Dr. Unger is continuously involved in community activities and events, promoting and sponsoring many local causes, such as Trinity’s Relay for Life.

Dr. Unger chose his profession after he was significantly injured in a car accident which resulted in three bulging discs. The treatments administered by a chiropractor helped him avoid drugs and surgery. He went on to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic, Port Orange, FL, where he earned his doctorate in 2006. As a Palmer graduate, he learned several techniques of adjusting that are gentle and effective in treating subluxations, or misalignments, in the spine.

Dr. Unger is a member of the Trinity Rotary Club which offers financial assistance and more to children’s organizations locally, nationally and internationally. He volunteers his time to the Good Samaritan Clinic of Pasco, which provides healthcare to people in need.

Today, Dr. Unger helps his patients and athletes optimize their health and performances through safe, gentle, effective chiropractic care, which includes therapeutic applications and nutritional recommendations to aid in healing. Over the course of his education, he earned multiple leadership and humanitarian awards. On several occasions, he provided humanitarian chiropractic care to the people of Garapoba and Florianopolis, Brazil, and helped raise money for poor orphanages in these cities, assisting them in meeting the standards of orphanages here in the United States. His service did not stop there! He is quite well-known and respected right here in Tampa Bay for the many ways he has dedicated himself to giving back

Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors for Pasco Pediatric Foundation, Inc., which “raises and distributes funds to children and young adults who need assistance with medical, emotional, physical and educational needs not otherwise met by existing federal, state, and local services and organizations in Pasco County.” A non-profit organization, Pasco Pediatric Foundation is beneficiary of the proceeds from the Fall Festival Dr. Unger sponsors each year with many other businesses within the community.

According to Dr. Unger, “Our collection of doctors use a ‘whole person approach.’ This approach to wellness means looking for underlying causes of any disturbance or disruption - which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time - and make whatever interventions and lifestyle adjustments that would optimize the conditions for normal function. Using this unique approach, our doctors are able to help you to accelerate and/or maintain your journey to good health.” Dr. Unger, his wife, Yanira, and their three children reside in Trinity. Florida Wellness & Rehab is located in Trinity Professional Center, 1820 Wellness Ln, Bldg #4, Trinity. To learn more about Dr. Unger, his associates and his practice, visit www.chiropractortrinity.com. To schedule a consultation and begin your journey to good health, call 727-264-8888.

Aside from his community service and abundant patient base, Dr. Unger is the official team doctor for the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fights held in New Port Richey. He shares his practice with three associates: Trinity native, Dr. Brandon Delle Chiaie, and Dr. Edward Leonard, both graduates of Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida; and Dr. Carol Browne, who graduated from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The Gift of Family

“The best Christmas of all is the presence of a happy family all wrapped up with one another.” - William Vaughan The youngest member of our family, Nolan.

Have you ever noticed that each year ends with a gift? Each day throughout the year is a present, the holidays are a gift. They include the gift of family, the gift of friends, and the gift of love. Our homes will be filled with joy, love; laughter and cheer as each one of us celebrate our family tradition of Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa. For me, it’s off to Grandmother’s house we go...spending this special day with the oldest and youngest of my family spanning 100 years of Christmas memories and blessings. What a blessing this year as I celebrate my grandson’s first Christmas and my Grandmother’s 100th. I am so excited to share the family traditions that my grandmother has passed down to my mother, myself, my children and now my grandchildren who will experience it for the very first time. The greatest gift will be watching the magic and wonder through all of their eyes, young and old. I found this poem and wanted to share, I call it “the gift of family”.

I wish you Merry Christmas; this poem’s my “Gift” to you

To take time for each other, which is the families HEART.

I’m sure that won’t surprise you . . . cuz my poems are nothing new.

So this is why I want to say, and know there is no test

So often life goes by too fast, that no-one figures out

I’m glad he placed me in this group, among the very Best!!

Why they were put together or what family’s all about.

There’s not another Family I would choose to call my own,

We’re not a family by some “chance”, there’s nothing that needs fixed

I feel so very lucky and there’s just – “NO PLACE LIKE HOME.”

We each were chosen carefully . . . each adding to the mix.

I’m proud to be a part of you, I’m proud to call you mine,

He knew we each held something — A quality we had

And with you all around me I am blessed at Christmas time.

One we would seek, and pass along . . . some trait of Mom and Dad.

Merry Christmas!

We take these traits they gave us and spread out on this earth But never really think about the miracle of birth. A birth is how we carry on, the traits we each possess, The special gifts God gave us, all each different from the rest. That’s why there IS a Christmas . . . A special day each year,

(Copyright 2004 by Lori Mathes)

To All of My Family & Friends, Near & Far, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Debbie Dawson

To celebrate the ONE, whose birth gave ALL that you hold dear. I think what was intended . . . is we each would do our part, Debbie@ForTheLocalBusiness.com

Maintain a Healthy Seated Posture The McCarty’s Sacro-Ease is one of the most effective Posture Correction BackRest and Seat Supports available, offering a way to “rebuild” an unsupportive seat or chair. Sacro-Ease has an orthopedic design that lifts you from a slumped position and helps the spine maintain a healthy seated posture. It’s metal frame and comforting elastic straps accommodate both buttock and lower back and providing flexible support. Ideal for overcoming road vibrations. This effective seating insert sits right on your existing car or truck seat or chair in the home or office. It has a firm seat bottom (the most important component) which prevents the user from “slumping” down and forward into soft seat cushions. Such slumping puts severe pressure on the lumbar spine, resulting in common low back pain while driving or otherwise sitting. See the “Unsupported” illustration, shown below. When supported by SACRO-EASE, the hips are “anchored” to the seat’s backrest, rather than slumped. Therefore, the spine is held in a natural upright position, relieving lumbar pressure. Back pain is then greatly reduced or, most often, completely eliminated.

The Gift of

Dance

Dance Extreme Academy

ance has been, and always will be, one of the most popular forms of emotional expression. With the advent of television shows like “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance”, its popularity has only increased over the years among viewers of all ages.

14 Holiday Issue 2013

Obviously, Dance Extreme Academy is generating great happiness for children and families in West Tampa Bay, based on the size of their enrollment, the number of their students accepted to prestigious dance arts programs, and the continued success of their dynamic dance teams in competition!

This immense level of success has prompted an upcoming expansion of the DEA facilities, which is scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2014. This expansion serves as proof they are reaching high levels of achievement in instruction and performance after only three years in business.

“There are shortcuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them.” -Vicki Baum, Author and Harpist

Julie Walek, Artistic Director and Instructor said, “We currently have more than 200 students, and the new 10,000 sq ft building will allow us to continue to focus on our commitment to a low student-to-teacher ratio. We feel it is extremely important to give that one-on-one attention.” Owner Darlene Jones collaborated with her talented staff and team of instructors to design the new state-ofthe-art instructional facility, to provide the best possible atmosphere for dancers to express themselves. The new complex will be comprised of four studios, along with a tumble track studio for tumbling and acrobatics, a parent lounge with live, flat-screen monitors for viewing each studio, a student café, a performance area, a prop room, and a sewing room to create costumes and wardrobe. The DEA instructional curriculum includes classes in ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, acrobatics, lyrical, contemporary, modern dance and musical theatre and caters to the recreational as well as the

competitive dancer. Darlene explains, “We have carefully chosen a staff that has years of experience. Our teachers have extensive dance education and certificates that are maintained yearly”. Aside from competitions, DEA dancers demonstrate their talents at various venues and events throughout the year. They maintain their annual tradition of performing at the Wiregrass Mall during the holidays, and they especially enjoy entertaining at the Orchard Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. DEA students can also be found dancing locally at the popular Taste of Trinity and Longleaf Festivals. Marketing Director Stacey Wyman said, “We’re a very family-oriented dance studio! We go above and beyond to make sure that our students and parents are continuously happy. It is very important that we cultivate and maintain positive relationships with our dance families, neighbors and local businesses. It is an amazing feeling when the community supports each other”.

www.ItsYourHomeMagazine.com

Darlene added, “I love the wonderful families that live in this area and are a part of the DEA family. I started my studio to give kids a chance to experience all genres of dance and gain a dance education. I love to see the joy in the kids’ faces as they walk into the studio. It is extremely rewarding to watch them improve each and every year.” Parent Jennifer Miller said, “We did a lot of research into choosing a new studio, and I am so happy that we picked DEA. The classes and teachers are superb, and my daughter has thrived since she started. You will not only receive professional instruction at DEA but you will also feel like family.” If you are interested in experiencing a refreshing new dance studio, visit Dance Extreme Academy located at 1645 Davenport Dr. in Trinity. Boomers “FREE Spirit” Rock On! Stroll down Memory Lane, then and now “…Five, six, seven o’clock, eight o’clock, ROCK! Nine, ten, eleven o ’c l o c k , twelve o’clock ROCK! We’re gonna ROCK around the clock tonight!” You guessed itBill Hailey & the Comets! Those were the good old days, and we’re still ROCKING!!! A few highlights from the 60s & 70s include authentic rock & roll, big hair, bell bottoms, miniskirts, go-go boots, tie dye shirts, 45 rpm records, American Bandstand, unlocked doors, un-tethered dogs, street light curfews, comic heroes, Bob Hope, and The Honeymooners. The 60s removed barriers. The 70s were crazy with “Flower Power”, peace signs, Earth shoes, blue jean skirts, headbands, long hair, beards, side burns, platform shoes and sandals. What fun reminiscing! As a member of this generation, I remember dancing as a teen at Club 1270 in the heart of “Motown,” Detroit City. There were bands playing in garages and singing groups on every street corner! Our group was “Valdaras” and did we have fun! We gathered every chance we could and recorded our voices on reel-tape. Saturday mornings we danced at the show, and every weekend at the “Dance Casino!” We always found time for our homework and our parents, even though WE knew more than they did!!!! History has repeated itself on many levels. One great thing I have observed about Boomers is that we have this attitude from the depths of our souls to PERSERVERE. We must proudly impart to our children

and grandchildren our ethics, morals, values, and patriotism! It is a beautiful thing, but an awesome responsibility. It is up to US to maintain verbal communication with our children and grandchildren before we lose our need for a voice box! Thanks to numerous electronic gadgets, T-E-XT-I-N-G has seemingly replaced verbal communication. Today more than ever, an ATTITUDE prevails in Boomers from the sixties. Fearless path-finders and trend-setters rock around the clock, staying strong, re-

Just play that old time rock and roll... inventing themselves, and sharing wisdom and heartfelt stories to younger generations. Some re-capture lost dreams, renew passions previously discarded, and develop them into entrepreneurial ventures for fun, or frequently, supplemental income. Between the NOW generation and the Boomers, is the electronic device movement: Computers, I-Pads, MP3 players, Kindle Readers, GPS’s, etc. While

these products have great benefits, it can be stifling for those looking to market themselves as semi-retired Boomers, returning to the work force out of necessity. Thank goodness for our children and grandchildren who assist us in learning the basics to navigate the internet, email, texts, and social media! There are many fellow Boomers out there who understand our plight in the electronic world, and they are there for us, too! Remember our mantra, “Never, EVER Give-Up!” We continue to see many volatile situations in the world today. While we don’t always understand “What’s Goin’ On” (Marvin Gaye), we still have what it takes to go forth and step into the GREATNESS we possess as Boomers! THIS is where we set the example for our younger generations. We CAN and WILL survive! We have the tools, the stick-to-itiveness, the will power and the drive to live our lives with dignity and success! Remember, it’s never too late to start over, live a dream, and renew your PASSION. Put yourself or your business in the spotlight! Seek out those who lead the way in digital marketing, website creation, and social media. Get your name or business branded! LOOK AND FEEL YOUNGER FOR THE HOLIDAYS Written by Dr. Unger

People always have a desire to look and feel younger. Many options exist to achieve this goal. One of the most overlooked, yet easiest elements to change involves food choices. “Poor quality foods like trans-fats, cause inflammation. Aging is basically a chronic inflammatory state,” explains Timothy Harlan, MD.

Lic# MM28929

An anti-inflammatory diet will help to decrease overall pain levels, while keeping you looking and feeling younger. Most people hate the word “diet.” However, this is no “diet.” It is a lifestyle change. You may not need to alter your current meals significantly, David Seaman, DC, suggests. “Simply substitute vegetables for grains, breads, and pastas; eat more fruit; and select healthier dessert and snack options.” Grains are part of our daily life, but they are inflammatory and should be avoided. Many people look to grains for the benefit of fiber. However, a higher intake of fiber can be obtained through fruits and vegetables. Changing your eating habits can be easy and fun, as the options are endless! To learn more about the anti-inflammatory diet, or for meal recipes, please call (727) 264-8888.

Stressed? Get Outdoors Just as Dr. Unger pointed out above, lifestyle changes are sometimes necessary to become healthy. It is important to take things one step at a time. So put on a good pair of shoes and take a walk outside. Not only is going outside good for your body, but it can help get your mind and spirit in a healthy state. So find a walking trail near your house and burn off some of those extra Christmas calories. There are many parks in the Trinity area such as John Chestnut Sr. Park and Brooker Creek Park. These parks have amenities such as restrooms, trails, picnic areas, and even guided tours at Brooker Creek. There is something for everyone at these family (and pet) friendly parks. The Gift of Freedom

With the holidays around the corner, many families are coming together to celebrate with eachother. Norman Rockwell (18941978) is most famous for capturing moments of an idealized America during the mid-20th century. As an illustrator, Rockwell worked for the Saturday Evening Post for over forty years. During that time, he created some of America’s most iconic works including: Rosie the Riveter and the Four Freedoms series. The Four Freedoms series had a scene that captured each of the four essential human rights President Franklin Roosevelt spoke of during a speech to the 77th US Congress in 1941. The four freedoms are: The Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear. Those four freedoms are still crucially important to America today, especially during the holidays. The joy captured in this image is not from the matching glasses, the white china, or even the turkey - it is from the love we experience when we gather our family and friends together.

Norman Rockwell. Freedom from Want or The Thanksgiving Picture, 1943. Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge, MA.

So, however you want to fancy up your house - red and green or silver and blue, be sure to fill your house with the warmth of love and appreciate the wonderful freedom that many have worked to secure for us. Happy Holidays!

Plenty of Upside This demure dining area gets an unexpected lift from a fuchsiacolored ceiling that turns a conventional paint color scheme upside down. Painting ceilings a darker color than walls helps make spaces cozier — an especially good effect for rooms with tall ceilings. Credit: Sara Story Design, www.houselogic.com

Home Trend Watch: Welcome Back the “Specialty Room” As economic conditions improve, “special function” rooms within homes are seeing a resurgence, according to findings from the American Institute of Architects’ Home Design Trends Survey for the second quarter. “As home sizes shrank during the housing downturn, special function rooms were particularly hard hit,” says AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker. “Many households view special function rooms as discretionary, and therefore easier to eliminate as homes were downsized. Now that average home sizes are growing again, interest in special function rooms is beginning to reemerge.” The special function rooms most in demand lately are outdoor living areas,

example, extra insulation in the attic and a first floor master bedroom have seen an increase in demand, architects report.

Nearly 63 percent of residential architects said interest in outdoor living areas/rooms is increasing. Outdoor living areas ranked as the highest special function room in demand, according to the survey.

“High demand for systems and technologies in the home that helps to lower utility bills and promote sustainability continue to rule the day in residential design,” says Baker.

Another area seeing growing demand are mud rooms/drop zones. More than 45 percent of architects reported a growing interest in mud rooms. Home owners are also placing higher value lately on special home features that use energy efficiency and increase accessibility to allow aging in place. For

Also, there is a growing popularity for home automation, with demand increasing for wireless systems, entertainment systems, energy management, and security, the survey finds. By Melissa Dittmann Tracey, REALTOR(R) Magazine

TRINITY AUTHOR PUBLISHED FIRST BOOK OF FICTION Trinity resident Carl L. Heifetz has published his first book, a humorous and exciting Science Fiction adventure that pays tribute to the worlds of Star Trek and Sherlock Holmes. Although Carl has published many stories and articles in fanzines, this is his first serious attempt at a commercial publication. The author’s most recent book to date is a 6 x 9 paperback in the science fiction adventure category and is available worldwide on book retailer websites such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The web page is www. outskirtspress.com/voyageofthebluecarbuncle. Chief Science Officer Commander S. Verner is mostly human, but he’s also partly a member of a telepathic species with an unpronounceable name. Verner has identified the purpose of the unusual blue carbuncle that has been handed down for generations in his family. The carbuncle is not an infectious lesion--rather, it is a gem, a source of wonder and with the

assistance of modern space travel, Verner has finally solved the mystery behind it. The brave crew of the spaceship Clipper discover a rift in space time that leads to a stunning scientific breakthrough: the discovery of a parallel universe. Based on the work of Arthur Conan Doyle and Gene Roddenberry, Voyage of the Blue Carbuncle is a fun and exciting spoof, sure to please science fiction fans as well as those who love the stories of Sherlock Holmes and Star Trek. Carl lives with his wife Sandie, in Heritage Springs.

Business FINANCE Butterfly Network The Holiday Season is a very exciting time of year. Families & friends visiting , shopping, recipes shared and cheer. However, the climate is not a peaceful one. I hear too often that people are exhausted, depleted of energy, money, and can’t wait for the “holidays to be over”. Have we lost something ? Several years ago, my younger daughter came home with a picture from an advertisement of a child with a facial deformity asking for donations for surgery. My daughter who wrote a list of all the stuff she wanted, needed, and really couldn’t live without, now was asking if we could donate to this charity. I suggested we use our gift money to pay for a complete surgery. Just like that we created a family tradition that has lasted in our family for 10 years now. I learned a lesson that year from my daughter. The most special gift is this little tradition that we continue to honor. Take the time to quiet yourself this holiday season. Enjoy the people around you, don’t worry if they are the in-laws or the outlaws, or if the bread pudding was dry, if the dress doesn’t fit or you got another tie. The most important part of this holiday is not what we get, but what we give. Happy Holidays, Coach Rose

AWARDS, CELL PHONE TAX-FREE TREATMENT REQUIREMENTS AND 2013 YEAR END TAX PLANNING Employer Provided Cell Phones When an employer provides an employee with a cell phone primarily for non-compensatory business reasons, the business and personal use of the cell phone is generally nontaxable to the employee. The IRS will not require recordkeeping of business use in order to receive this tax-free treatment. The IRS announced a similar administrative approach that applies to small businesses that provide cash allowances and reimbursements for work-related use of personally-owned cell phones. Under this approach, employers that require employees, primarily for non-compensatory business reasons, to use their personal cell phones for business purposes may treat reimbursements of the employees’ expenses for reasonable cell phone coverage as nontaxable. However, this treatment does not apply to reimbursements of unusual or excessive expenses or to reimbursements made as a substitute for a portion of the employee’s regular wages.

2013 Year-End Planning- It’s Time to Start! With the passage of both the “American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012” and the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” (commonly known as Obamacare), tax planning for 2013 has never been more difficult. As year-end approaches, it is important for taxpayers to consider how their tax position has changed over the year and how the new tax laws will affect their tax liability. Now is the time to begin an annual review of changes in your family dynamics (marriage, divorce, death), your employment situation (retirement, salary fluctuations), your asset allocations and short term cash flow needs, as well as timing strategies to minimize your tax liability. Don’t wait…2013 is almost over! Contact Unbehagen Advisors’ tax team now!

Crossword ARE YOU SOCIAL MEDIA SAVVY? Thanksgiving day, I received a “Friend Request” from my late Father’s cousin, who I have not seen in more than 20 years, at the very least. Considering there are so few relatives remaining on my paternal side of the family, I am thrilled she reached out to me! If you are not familiar with “Friend Requests”, then you are out of the loop! The Facebook phenomenon has taken the world by storm over the last few years on both a personal and professional levels. People use the popular site for everything from keeping up with friends and family, to sharing comical memes and recipes. Professionally, businesses use the social media sites to promote their products, upcoming events and bring awareness that they exist! Facebook is just one of many social media sites that offer genuine benefits to their users. Twitter, Google Plus, LinkedIn, Pinterest and most recently, Foursquare, are equally as beneficial to individuals and professionals of all types. The challenge is trying to manage all of these sits to achieve maximum levels of effectiveness. My dear friend, Stacy Hanson, of Personalized Marketing, along with Debbie

Dawson and myself through Topaz Marketing Group, assist business owners in managing this very important segment in marketing. Social media is the way to keep your name in front of your target market on a regular basis, which assists in branding and promoting your business. Local businesses are experiencing more success, due to their continuing presence on social media sites. I, for one, have sought out and visited business pages on Facebook to catch specials, check hours of operation, locations and more. Social media recognition is incredibly important in this day and age, but it needs to be managed properly for maximum impact. Business owners should have social media incorporated into their marketing plan, and if it’s not, I encourage you to do so. Chances are you will cultivate new customers, clients and colleagues! Family Sports Restaurant

It has been many years since visiting this particular establishment, so when the opportunity arose to visit this restaurant, I approached this review with a bit of anticipation and trepidation. On this particular day, a bit of a chill was in the air, and the yearning for some hot soup drew us in. As we entered the darkened restaurant, we were greeted immediately by a staff member, and our friendly and perky server was at our table the moment we sat down. We inquired about the soup of the day, and were told it was Chicken Tortilla, and we promptly ordered it. Upon returning with our beverages, our server informed us that the Tortilla Soup was no longer available, but the soup that was available now was Tomato Basil, so we switched our order, along with placing the rest of our food order, which included a ½ Grilled Cheese Sandwich, and a ½ Cuban Sandwich. Not a moment later, our server appeared again, stating that the Tomato Basil soup was also not available, but the Italian Wedding Soup was definitely available. So once again, we modified our order, and were sincerely hoping that the old adage of 3rd time’s a charm would apply in this case. It did!!

While we waited for our food to arrive, we chatted about the restaurant and discussed the difficulties we had in trying to locate a parking space during the lunch hour. We did enjoy the sporty and rustic appeal of the place, along with the multiple TV’s that were broadcasting several different programs in an attempt to appeal to everyone tastes.

accommodations for outside dining and TV viewing as well. My disappointment came in when using the restrooms to wash my hands. The facilities were very dingy, dirty, and the paper towels dispensers were empty.

Our soup arrived within 10 minutes of our arrival and was piping hot and quite tasty, while our ½ sandwiches arrived shortly after our soup. The Grilled Cheese sandwich could have been toasted more, to give a browned appearance, but it was crunchy and cheesy…just the way we like it!

Despite the fact that our dining experience concluded in under an hour, this is one establishment that would not be on my Top 10 list to rush back to. Even though the food was good, I was still underwhelmed and probably wouldn’t return anytime in the near future because what we saw on the menu are items that we can pretty much get at several other locales in the area.

The Cuban Sandwich, which was hot and pressed, consisted of Ham, Salami and Swiss Cheese, which was served on authentic Cuban Bread, and included lettuce, tomato, pickle, mustard and mayo. Albeit a tad salty, the sauce on the sandwich, combined with the bread’s crunch appeal, made this a nice compliment to the soup.

Taking into account my past experiences, I was truly hoping that things would be different this time around, and that I’d leave with a smile on my face and a completely renewed perspective. We did leave with smiles on our faces, but not with a different perspective. Beef ‘O’Brady’s is located at 3216 Little Road in Trinity.

Once we had devoured our meals, the table was cleared immediately, giving us the chance to observe the wide variety of patrons in the place. Families, as well as couples were enjoying dining out that day. This sports themed, family friendly establishment would be a great place to be on game day, and included

Overall rating: 1 (worst) & 5 (best), I’d give this restaurant 3 houses out of 5.

Fiddler’s Green An Irish Pub & Eatery

rish pubs are known for stout brew and flavorful cuisine of the culture. Couple those with a fun, lively atmosphere, and you have Trinity’s own Fiddlers Green Irish Pub & Eatery!

owned J.C. Cravers Bar & Grill in Ozona before selling the restaurant a few years ago. After re-purchasing the establishment, they recently re-opened as Ozona Tavern.

Established to bring the popular flavors of Ireland to West Tampa Bay, Fiddlers Green was designed with more than just the customers’ desires in mind. The owners created what they believe their friends would enjoy, which includes live musical talent and eight big-screen televisions displaying many sporting events of interest, especially those involving Tampa Bay teams!

The LaMattinas included their friend of nearly a decade, Paul Quigley, in the Fiddlers Green venture. He is a native of Dublin, IR, and managed an Irish pub in Boston before relocating to Florida. Paul promises to serve up a “perfect pint of Guinness” to go alongside any of their classic Irish specialties: Bangers & Mash, Fish & Chips, Corned Beef & Cabbage, Shepherd’s Pie, and more!

Each owner possesses years of experience in the food & beverage industry. Husband and wife team Vince& Kelly LaMattina previously

Kids ON THE BLOCK

The Inspire Foundation

TAMPA BAY AREA’S FINEST FIGHT FOR MUSIC AND THE ARTS You may know them as your neighbor, doctor, lawyer, or private music instructor, but those are just their day jobs. Fourteen of the Bay Area’s finest joined talents to form The Inspire Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on music and arts for children with special needs. The Inspire Foundation will provide instruments, supplies, and a curriculum to schools, individuals, and organizations. Their mission is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to explore their own talent and interest in music and the arts. The Inspire Foundation began when preschool music teacher, Cristine Rhodes, and her husband and music instructor, Jason Rhodes, joined up with colleague and speech pathologist, Heather Palmer, to discuss a new program Cristine was designing called Autism Sings. The driving force behind this program was a combination of love and experience in the music field, along with their own experience raising a son on the spectrum. When Jacob stopped talking at the early age of two, Jason and Cristine naturally responded by using music and arts in all aspects of his daily routine. They believe that combination of teaching and his love for animals and sports largely contributed to his current successes. Jason and Cristine began working with local artist and mother, Katye Grab. Together they became inspired to do even more for this cause by forming the inspire foundation and recruiting an amazing Board of Directors. The Foundation’s board includes Jason, Cristine, Katye, Heather, James Stanton, Teri Toner, Donna Israel, Debbie Dawson, Laurie Spiegel, Bart Kerr, Chris Grab, Jeremy Albert, Michael Stanton, and Chase Florin. The Inspire Foundation reached out to companies that shared the same goals as they did, and formed a special bond immediately with Renee Trinca, the owner of Schoenhut Toy Piano Company, located in St. Augustine. Renee was so excited to

become a part of this wonderful cause that she donated a majority of the musical instruments for The Inspire Foundation and Inspire School of Music & the Arts’ classrooms and summer music camps. She stays in close contact with Cristine and is excited at the progress of the foundation and being a part of its growth. They have also just joined a partnership with Ryan Judd, owner of The Rhythm Tree. Ryan is a board certified music therapist. His mission is to teach parents, educators and other therapists how to use music to help children with special needs learn, grow and thrive! The Inspire Foundation will rely mainly on fundraising events to raise money. They were selected as the November beneficiary of the Professional Philanthropy Network, a non-profit organization that helps other non profits raise money for good causes. Their next event is the first annual Arts for Autism. This event will be held on March 1, 2014, at the Florin Roebig property in Pinellas County off of Alderman Road. There will be live bands, live event artists, food, drinks, raffles, silent auctions, and much more. Contact board member and director of marketing, Donna Green Israel at inspirefoundationfl@ gmail.com for more information.

applications can be found on their website. Becoming a Junior Member is another option. Junior Members are children that want to help raise money for The Inspire Foundation via their own fundraising efforts either through their schools or individually. Junior members can submit their ideas and lead the efforts as well as recruit their friends. Of course, you may also donate to The Inspire Foundation directly on their website or at fundraising events. 100% of these donations go directly to funding music and art programs for children with special needs. Although this organization is exclusive to the Tampa Bay area now, their goal is to expand throughout Florida, and eventually the United States. This is an amazing organization that has an incredible vision and I can’t wait to see where they go next.

There are a few different ways you can become involved in The Inspire Foundation’s vision. One way to help is to volunteer your time at fundraising events. Volunteer
