But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them – yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 1 Corinthians 15:10

Photography at its best captures the essence of the subject in a proper light to expose beauty, emotion and intricate detail. As a Christian, Brandi McPeak, owner of Gripped by Grace Photography, believes she is doing what she was put on Earth to do. “I think what sets me apart is that I have

such a heart, a passion for what I do. God gifted me in seeing the world differently. He gave me the ability to see feeling and to see love and see his wonderful world in a unique way.” Brandi loves what she does and she wants people to have their memories through photos. She strives to make it affordable, while maintaining 100% quality and professionalism. Bob Yesko of Aquaterra Salon & Spa Beauty, Love & Generosity! Water and earth: The elements of life, the elements of beauty. It is the marriage of these elements that serve as the foundation of Aquaterra Salon & Spa in Trinity. Owner, Bob Yesko, and his team at Aquaterra, work together harmoniously to serve their guests and their community with beauty, love, and generosity of time and spirit! Bob and his staff are involved in many organizations and fund-raisers throughout their West Pasco community. Fill A Heart Group, Inc., may be the closest to their hearts. One of their clients started this wonderful organization in an effort to provide breast cancer patients with beautiful heart-shaped pillows, lovingly made by members of the community. The Aquaterra team also assists Pasco County Foster/Adoptive Parent Association with fundraisers like their “Apple Tree” program, which is an effort to provide children with their wish list of school supplies, and the “Angel Tree” initiative held during the holidays to provide gifts for children without families. Aquaterra also sponsors numerous art programs and various sporting events at local schools. “Cut-a-Thons” are held annually as a way to raise money in support of these efforts and for organizations such as Fill A Heart, Pasco Kids First and The Histiocytosis and Gold Shield Foundations. Bob explains, “We want to stay involved in our local community, because we truly care – it is the right thing to do! We hope our involvement in the community sets an example for other businesses to become involved.” Bob and his team believe that by supporting local organizations and businesses within the community, they are giving back to their community’s growth and prosperity.

As a means of giving back to their male and female guests, Aquaterra offers a full-day salon & spa experience, complete with customized phases of transformation from head to toe! The stylists achieve amazing hair color using industry leader Redken, or their premium, Goldwell, products to perfectly accentuate your personal aura, flattering your best features. Pureology, Morrocan Oil, Keratin Complex and Keratin Daily Express, Malibu (Chlorine & Wellwater), and LaBrasilianna All-In-One, are other product lines that can tame your tresses, making hair silky soft. Although you can purchase similar products and services throughout the community, the team at Aquaterra is expertly trained to recommend the very best and most appropriate to complement your lifestyle. Expert manicurists at Aquaterra can sculpt acrylic nails or apply shellac nails for just the look your feel your hard-working hands deserve! Pampering your tootsies with a soothing pedicure totally refreshes your feet and toes, making them ornamental in those new sandals! You can expect only the best lines in nail care with Creative Nail Design and OPI at Aquaterra. Guests experience rejuvenating facials, relaxing massages, and smoothing waxes, in one of Aquaterra’s specialized spa rooms. Their most popular spa package is the “Spa Escape” which is a facial/massage combination to refresh and exhilarate your body, mind and spirit! Bob is proud to utilize some of the best skin care products available: Image and Prana. “I love the satisfaction on our guests’ faces when they leave (our salon) feeling beautiful and relaxed,” Bob adds. Aquaterra Salon & Spa is located at 7813 Mitchell Blvd., Suite 110, Trinity. The September birthstone, Sapphire is chemically and structurally the same as Ruby - both are varieties of the mineral corundum. Sapphires are well known among the general public as being blue, but can be nearly any color except shades of red or pink (since those are called rubies). Sapphire is also the Zodiac stone for the constellation of Taurus the Bull. It is associated with the values of truth, sincerity, commitment, and loyalty. The blue color is by far the most popular color for sapphire but orange-pink, golden, white, and even black have generated much interest in the gem trade. Tennis bracelets are available that contain a complete rainbow of sapphire gemstones. Oriented rutile crystal inclusions cause a six-pointed-star light effect (called asterism) to form the popular Star Sapphire. source: www.galleries.com

The Way You Look and Feel is 90% Diet… but It’s Not the Kind of “Diet” You Are Thinking Of! By Melanie Milletics

You know the saying – “You Are What You Eat”.

Well, you are what you eat, you feel like what you eat, you look like what you eat, and you will AGE based on what you eat. So ‘crap’ is not how you want to be, feel, look, or age like, right? So what does your diet consist of?

Americans have gotten somewhat smarter over the past few years, learning to read nutritional labels for calories, fat, sugar, protein etc. But somehow in the hype over ‘low fat’, ‘sugar free’, and the new buzz ‘gluten free’, we have forgotten about the NUTRITION that is actually on that label. You see, your weight and vitality has SOME relation to the number of calories you take in. We all have a number of calories our bodies will burn in a day and if we regularly exceed that number, we store the excess as fat. That’s a given, something we all understand. But what you may not realize is that The way you look and the way your body stores or releases fat, has more to do with the TYPE of calories you take in than the number.

Question: Which is a better choice for a snack between meals if you are trying to lose weight? a. 1/2 cup full fat unsweetened Greek yogurt with walnuts and blueberries – 250 calories b. 100 calorie snack bag of Oreos

If you are following me, you know what I’m going to answer, right? It’s the full fat Greek yogurt snack, not the empty sugar calories from the cookies! You will lose more weight, feel, look and AGE better if you focus on the TYPE of calories you consume, versus the NUMBER.

With a focus on calories, points and the like, people tend to obsess over numbers, when they should really be focused on taking in good nutrition, and a variety of healthy foods. If you will keep your sugar intake to a minimum, you will find that your body is far more likely to release fat.

How to Assess Your Loved One’s Situation Review physical, mental, environmental well-being

As parents grow older, they face challenges that their adult children may not know how to address. The children may support their parents’ desire to continue living independently, but have concerns about their safety and well-being. One way to help resolve these conflicting emotions, and determine if the parents need assistance, is through an assessment.

What Is an Assessment?

Gary & Karen Amundson, LMT’s

Licensed Massage Therapist Owners Lic#MM0001980

727-372-9388

2330 Seven Springs Blvd. • Trinity, FL 34655 www.MassageTherapyCenterFL.com

What to Assess

Professional assessments can take a few hours to several days and vary depending on the level of care needed. All assessments should include a thorough review of your loved one’s physical and mental health; medication use; daily routine; home and community safety; support system; appearance and hygiene; finances and personal interests. Source: www.aarp.org

An assessment is a comprehensive review of a person’s mental, physical, environmental and financial condition. This helps to establish his or her ability to remain safely independent and identifies risks and ways to reduce them.

The Goal of Assessment

A thorough assessment should yield a plan for meeting needs and addressing problems. The findings may help your parents decide a change —- like moving or getting in-home assistance — is necessary for their safety and well-being. An assessment also may lead to resolutions that allow a parent to remain independent longer. A good plan can mean fewer accidents and illnesses, a longer life, improved quality of life and greater independence. It is important to include your parents in the discussion and decision-making about their options once the assessment is complete; involving them in the process should help them feel more comfortable with the outcome. 16

DEFYING AGE By Barbara Marville-Kelly

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! The SPOTLIGHT is on YOU! Every day in every way, is every reason for every season, to take a snapshot of your life at work and at play. Are you playing full out? Are you “souled” or sold out? What is YOUR “take” on life? Do YOU get a second or third “take”? Are YOU “camera-ready” in terms of how you are going to show up in life? How are YOU being perceived by others in business and personal situations? Are you living in the greatness you were born with, in abundance and prosperity in all areas of your life experience? As a professional shopping channel television host, formerly with the Home Shopping Network for 15 years, and presently with The Product Network, where “Inventors & Consumers Unite”, starting over once again in my life, the above questions brought me to the metaphor of “Lights, Camera, Action” coaching! I coached myself to find my own way to be of service to others, by first selling myself, my service and company, and my products authentically! Little did I realize that by utilizing my own concepts for personal growth and development, it would lead the way to helping others. Whether your goal is to improve your 30-second commercial at a business networking meeting, to present a service or product that is compelling, or to become part of our special event training on “How to Become a TV Shopping Channel Host”, or Entrepreneur Host, or by just learning the science and selling techniques behind the scenes “As Seen On TV”, Dennis & I have the tools. It matters NOT what your profession or personal situation is at the present moment. Over the years, we have observed the road blocks that hold people back or keep them from living the lives they were born and meant to live. We have discovered the value of easy and simple-to-understand metaphors that even a child can apply. We use “LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION” as a daily metaphorical boot camp. It can be done quickly to access the knowledge we have coined as

the “Master Key Codes,” to effect positive change on the spot, anytime, anywhere. What makes our boot camp different? It is not only a great jumpstart, but it is ONGOING. Unlike other boot camps that may work temporarily, but end leaving you to revert back to old ways that are unproductive. “The Spotlight on YOU” phraseology is the reminder process where YOU are observing YOU by YOU, keeping your life in check with the “snapshot” and the “spotlight” on YOU. We have applied the same exact principles with sports enthusiasts, professional athletes, and martial artists, coached masterfully by five-time World Martial Arts Champion, Author, Sports Nutritionist, and Master Life Coach, Dennis Kelly who shares his secrets that totally apply to the game of life. Every individual has the opportunity to tap into the treasures and talents with which they were born. Unlock the “Master Key Codes” to life’s mysteries and turn them into “LIFE MASTERIES!” We are born with the mastery of greatness. The mystery comes when we get in the Master’s way.

First, you've got to know what they've got. But where to start? I can't tell you how many adult children approach me and ask, "How can I possibly ask Mom and Dad about their finances without stirring up a hornet's nest?" And it is true; this family conversation is often the most difficult one. It is also, however, often the most important one. One way to approach the topic of finances is to focus first on getting organized. It is critical to know where your folks keep important documents. This doesn't mean you are taking over. It merely means you are asking them to share information you might need some day. A search for documents can lead to deeper conversations about where other important insurance or financial information is kept. Having all this information in one place can mean peace of mind. The process of gathering it can also help you get a true sense of your loved ones' financial assets.

Beat the Heat Tips

By Adam Bluestein and Allegra Muzzillo

From 23 Ways to Beat the Heat

Baby, it's hot outside窶病nd inside, too. Here, no-sweat ways to cool off. Don't Blow Hot Air Make a makeshift air conditioner. If it's hot but not humid, place a shallow bowl of ice in front of a fan and enjoy the breeze. As the ice melts, then evaporates, it will cool you off.

Close everything else, too. Whether the air conditioner is on or off, keep windows and doors shut if the temperature outside is more than 77 degrees Fahrenheit (most people start to sweat at 78). Whenever the outside air is hotter than the inside air, opening a window invites heat to creep in.

Give your A/C some TLC. Clean or replace the filter in room and central air conditioners about once a month during the summer. If you have central air-conditioning, have the ducts checked for leaks, which can reduce a system's efficiency by as much as 15 percent, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Seal any cracks between a window unit and the frame with peelable caulking or a sealant strip. These steps help ensure good airflow and keep the coils cleaner, which means more efficient and more effective cooling.

Vent a Lot Run a fan and an air conditioner simultaneously. You can use the air conditioner at lower power and still feel cool if the fan is blowing over you. That's because the air conditioner removes humidity from the air while the fan helps evaporate sweat and moves heat away from your body. (Note: Fans don't cool a room; they just make people feel cooler, so shut them off before you leave.)

Close It Down Close the damper. While running any kind of air conditioner, shut your fireplace damper. An open one "pulls hot air into your house instead of sucking it out," says Tommy Spoto, a master chimney sweep at Chimney Chap, in Copiague, New York. "This is called flow reversal."

Turn on the vent in the bathroom. When taking a shower, be sure to use the vent fan: It helps sticky moisture escape.

Tax Relief on Mortgage Debt Forgiveness Ends

December 31st, So Hurry!

If you are upside down or “underwater” in your home and are considering a short sale you may want to get the ball rolling now. The tax-relief law allows homeowners to exclude from income certain debts forgiven by their lenders. The Mortgage Debt Relief Act of 2007 expires on Dec. 31, 2012 which is only four months away. This is one of the most important tax-relief provisions enacted by Congress during the housing crisis to help financially strapped homeowners. Under the tax code, borrowed money need not be reported as income because you have an obligation to repay. But if the lender subsequently cancels what you owe, the IRS requires that you report that debt as income because the duty to repay it no longer exists. As an example, if you owe $250,000 and your lender forgives $50,000 of that debt in a $200,000 refinancing, that $50,000 is considered income. If your combined federal and state marginal

tax rate is 36%, you would owe $18,000 in taxes. Under the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act of 2007, though, taxpayers are allowed to exclude from income the discharge of debt on their principal residence — at least until 2013. So when your lender agrees to a short sale, there is no tax on the difference between the selling price and the amount you owe. When your lender forecloses, there is no tax on the canceled debt. Even when you refinance at a lower loan balance, there is no tax on the difference between what you owed on the old loan and what you owe on the new one. For more information about the The Mortgage Debt Relief Act of 2007 visit the IRS official website at IRS.gov. Call “Your Hometown Realtor”, Debbie Dawson at 727-709-9541 for more information.

AUTO KNOW

Air Conditioning Odor You Asked: Why do my air conditioning vents have a musty odor when I start my car in hot, humid weather?

Five Star Auto Answered: This condition may be caused by condensation build-up on the evaporator core, which does not evaporate by itself in high humidity conditions. There are several other possible sources of a musty odor in a vehicle. A common source is a water leak into the interior of the vehicle or foreign material (such as leaves) in the air distribution vents. Contact Our Hometown Professional, Five Star Auto for more information at 727-942-2733. From the infamous words of an honest and great mechanic, George Bouris, ” Remember! 1) With a 20% down payment, a 15-year fixed-rate loan for $100,000 with a rate of 4.50%(4.669% APR) would be repaid in 180 payments (principal and interest) of $765 each. 2) With a 20% down payment, a 3/3 adjustable rate mortgage for $100,000 with an introductory rate of 4.00% would be repaid for the first 36 months in payments (principal and interest) of $478 each. (APR after the 36 month introductory period will be variable and may be subject to increase). Variable APRs shown are the best available for the initial fixed rate period of 3 or 5 years only. After the initial fixed-rate period, your variable APR will be based on the movement of the Treasury Security Index for a comparable maturity as the ARM program selected plus a margin determined by your credit qualification. Your qualifying margin over the index is determined at the time you lock-in your final rate. The variable rate and APR may adjust up or down with a CAP limitation not to exceed 2% for any one change. The maximum increase or decrease in percentage points for the term of the loan is 6%. However, the rate on your loan will never decrease lower than the margin. A change cannot occur more than once every 36 months for the 3/3 ARM and once every 60 months for the 5/5 ARM. An increase in rate would represent an increase of your monthly payments. Property insurance is required.

Tips 2012

Election Year Tax Talk: Deciphering the Terminology By: Todd Unbehagen, MAFM, EA, ATA, ATP, President, Unbehagen Advisors This year's election chatter is sure to include a healthy dose of tax talk. To keep up, here are three terms you should know.

The "Bush tax cuts"

A number of major tax changes were enacted in 2001 and 2003, including lower federal income tax rates, special maximum rates for long-term capital gains and qualifying dividends, and increased standard deduction amounts. While most of the provisions were extended by legislation passed in late 2010, these tax provisions are still commonly referred to as the "Bush tax cuts" or the "Bushera tax cuts." With these provisions set to expire again at year-end, much of the tax debate will center around whether to extend the provisions again--particularly whether to extend the provisions for all taxpayers, or only to those who make less than a certain amount (e.g., individuals with incomes under $200,000, married couples with incomes under $250,000).

Alternative minimum tax (AMT)

The AMT is essentially a separate federal income tax system with its own rates and rules. If you're subject to the AMT, you have to calculate your taxes twice--once under the regular tax system and again under the AMT system. Bush tax cuts expanding AMT exemption amounts were extended only through the end of 2011.

This increases the pressure to address AMT this year--failure to extend AMT relief would result in an estimated 30 million or more individuals being affected by the AMT in 2012. (Source: U.S. Congressional Research Service. The Alternative Minimum Tax for Individuals (RL30149; August 23, 2011), by Steven Maguire.)

The "Buffett rule"

On August 14, 2011, the New York Times published an opinion piece written by Warren Buffett, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (Warren E. Buffett, "Stop Coddling the Super-Rich," New York Times, August 14, 2011). In the piece, Buffett essentially argued that he and his "mega-rich friends" weren't paying their fair share, noting that the rate at which he paid taxes (total tax as a percentage of taxable income, NOT necessarily the total tax) was lower than the other 20 people in his office. As Buffett points out, this is partially attributable to the fact that the ultra-wealthy typically receive a high proportion of their income from long-term capital gains and qualified dividends, which are currently taxed at rates that are generally lower than the rates that apply to wages and other ordinary income. President Obama has articulated the "Buffett rule" as the tenet that people making more than $1 million annually should not pay a smaller percentage share of their income in taxes than middle-class families pay. (Source: www.whitehouse. gov.) Our tax team is available all year to guide you on the upcoming tax changes, and on the above topics which may impact your individual tax situation.

handle the many projects of the organization. For the past five years, Outreach has provided Thanksgiving dinners to the needy in West Pasco who would not otherwise have a holiday meal. Last year, they provided meals to more than 1300 people, with the support of local businesses, individuals and volunteers.

Throughout the years, CSC has taken on many initiatives to support the community, and continues to evolve annually. Each month, members recognize at-risk students from the PACE Center for Girls and Schwettman, by honoring them at a luncheon, presenting certificates recognizing their success, and awarding them with a monetary gift. In the 2012 school year, CSC provided $7000 in scholarships to area high school seniors to help them with college expenses.

Another successful project, Operation Shoe Box, consisted of collecting, packing and mailing hundreds of shoebox-sized care packages to our troops overseas.

CSC partners with the Board of Realtors at Christmas to provide a holiday party for students at PACE Center for Girls. Annual grants totally $3,000, are used to support other non-profit fundraising efforts. These include Youth & Family Alternatives, Sertoma Speech and Hearing, Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired, Healthy Families, Katelyn Foundation, Good Samaritan Clinic, and West Pasco Aids Foundation, among others. TECH TALK

REVIEW, REVISE, REINVIGORATE YOUR WEBSITE You have done everything that you were supposed to do. Proper planning, hired a great web developer and created a super website. You have spent your hard earned money and valuable time to get your internet presence established and active.

What do you do now?

If you are thinking that everything is finished and you can sit back and let the website take care of itself…..think again. This is, in fact, the last thing that you want to do!

Keep it Fresh

Operating a successful website requires regular attention to keep it fresh. What exactly does “regular attention” and “fresh” mean, you ask? What it means is that it is not necessary to completely rework every page in your website every month, for example, but rather you should make small incremental changes every few months to show your visitors that you are keeping the information on your website current and relevant. If your website looks the same every time a customer visits your website you risk losing

that customer because you convey the perception that you have nothing new to offer. It can be as simple as changing some of the colors, or updating some of your images. It is very important to update things such as your services if they have changed and to provide updates on your product offerings.

Content is King

Finally, remember that with the search engines, content is king! Keep your content current and relevant. Try and add content that will be of value to your visitors. This can be accomplished by adding new or enhancing the existing content on individual pages. Another way to accomplish this is to use a blog on your website. Websitedzyn can help you with these updates. If your site does not have the capability to allow you to make changes yourself, contact us and we can add the functionality to your site. If you

don’t have a blog and would like to start one on your website, Websitedzyn can help you with that too. Call Websitedzyn today to discuss how we can help you improve your website.

Florida Estates Winery Home of the Sun In the flat lands north of Tampa on the northern edge of Land O’ Lakes sitting on a 3,600 acre ranch is Florida Estates Winery. First opened in December of 2001 in an old hunting lodge and bunk house, Florida Estates Winery has been making distinctive Florida wine since then. They have worked with the University of Florida to plant and grow grapes with a unique Florida touch. Florida Estates winery is owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Ron and Kathy Hunt. Ron is the wine maker and VP General Manager and Kathy is in charge of the tasting room and keeping everything in order. They have created a loyal following of customers that enjoy the quiet and laid back atmosphere of the winery. The lists of wines that are available cover the taste of most any palette. The Plantation White is a light soft wine that is great for the hot days of summer. The Chateau Soliel Chardonnay is an unoaked Chardonnay with crisp clean flavors. Plantation 36

Blush is the classic “white zin” style of a blush. Plantation Red is a light fruity red in the style of a light Beaujolais or light Italian red. The two fruit wines, Casa Del Sol Orange and Casa Del Sol Key Lime, are great for cooking as well as sipping. Both have great aromas but are very subdued in the taste. The dessert wine, Plantation Spice, is not sugary, syrupy sweet but a clean sweet that pair great with chocolate. The last, and Ron’s “baby”, is the Casa Del Sol Strawberry Port. Made with Plant City strawberries, it is a sweet, smooth, and delicious port. At 19% alcohol you should not drink it to fast. Florida Estates Winery is opened seven days a week from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Located at 25241 State Road 52 in Land O’ Lakes. You can reach them by phone at 813-996-2113. If you are looking for something to do that is close and fun then pack a picnic lunch and head out to Florida Estates Winery.

Chef John “Jay” Brokaw, Skeeter’s Bar & Grill at Silver Dollar Golf & Shooters Clubs Pairing Spices Perfectly to Create Delectable, Flavorful Meat & Seafood When was the last time you dined upon exotic game like wildebeest, bear, lion or mountain goat? People have approached Chef John “Jay” Brokaw for these among other carnivorous preparations, and he has mastered them all along his culinary journey. No, these delicacies are not found on his menu at Skeeter’s Bar & Grill located at both Silver Dollar Golf & Shooters Clubs off Patterson Road in Odessa. However, Chef Jay is all about flavorful meat! “When I was in chef school,” Jay recalls, “there were 30 students in my class. The Master Chef was a tough bird, and he had us all prepare prime rib roasts for his critique. Fifteen students had to redo their roasts. When he sampled mine, the Master Chef said, ‘This is the best prime rib I have ever had in my life. It will be the standard for future classes.’ That made me very proud.” He has an uncanny knack for pairing spices and flavors perfectly, enhancing meat and seafood to acquire delectable results! He attributes his culinary success to his favorite Master Chef: Mom! Using a small electric oven warmed by a light bulb, Chef Jay remembers watching his mother as a child and sprinkling cinnamon and sugar on pieces of dough to bake in his small oven. “I learned so much from my Mother, that it inspired me to pursue a career.” Chef Jay attended numerous culinary schools along his journey, including Culinary Institute of America in Philadelphia and Fort Lauderdale, Temple University Culinary Institute, St. Peter’s Culinary Technologies, and Culinary Institute of VirginiaWilliamsburg, specializing in French Cooking. He considers himself a professional student, as he is currently enrolled in a cake decorating class in Tampa! Chef Jay does not stay behind a grill or the line, because he enjoys personally interacting with the guests, shaking their hands. It is that personal touch that sets him apart from his colleagues. If a guest has a special dietary request, they know they can approach Chef Jay, and he will do everything in his power to accommodate! He is determined that his guests have a great time while they are in his restaurant. Chef Jay feels a sense of home at Silver Dollar Golf Club in that the atmosphere is congenial, and it is a family-oriented facility where kids are welcome. Should you desire privacy, that, too can be arranged with ease. He and his team want to make sure their guests are happy and satisfied! 38

Skeeter’s Bar & Grill thrives at the Golf & Shooters Clubs, because each facility consistently hosts tournaments that are open to the public, and more importantly, they host fundraising tournaments for numerous local non-profit organizations such as the Paralyzed Veterans, Wounded Warriors and Lighthouse groups. In October, they will team up with Klammer Ford to host a shooters tournament to benefit Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. “I love our community,” Chef Jay boasts. “It’s a small community in a big city. It’s phenomenal.” He is quick to compliment local schools, restaurants, and emergency personnel. In fact, he frequently hires students from Sickles High School’s culinary program to show them the inner workings of a successful kitchen and restaurant. His rule when choosing his suppliers is “100% quality”. He purchases as much as he can locally, including produce from a restaurant-certified stand “down the road”. Of course, he will never buy average meats. “For that, you can go to Walmart.” He insists upon only 100% Angus beef, top-quality pork and Applewood smoked bacon. Guests will always receive the best when dining at Skeeter’s! The grill is always open to the public every day from 7 am, and does not close until at least 7 pm, or when the last person leaves! Dinners are served on Wednesday nights and for special events throughout the year. When the season picks up, expect Fish Fry Fridays! You’re invited to meet Chef Jay at Skeeter’s Bar & Grill located at Silver Dollar Resort, 12515 Silver Dollar Drive in Odessa. For more information, call 813-920-6324, or visit Silverdollargolf.com.

Cooking Channel’s, Eden Eats, Features Local Chefs

W

orld traveler and food enthusiast, Eden Grinshpan, takes viewers on a weekly culinary adventure through American cities serving up authentic global cuisine in Eden Eats, premiering Friday, August 17, at 10 pm, on the Cooking Channel. Over the course of eight episodes, Eden visits different cities to discover original recipes and the incredible stories behind them. She meets the immigrants and locals who make up the backbone of every city and who reconnect with their culture and traditions through food. The episode Friday, August 24, at 10 pm, will feature Tarpon Springs’ own Chef Andreas Salivaras of Mykonos, and Executive Chef Demetrios Salivaras, of Dimitri’s on the Water, both located on the World Famous Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks. The spotlight on Andreas & Dimitri showcases their culinary expertise when it comes to authentic & nouveau Greek cuisine. Eden will also sample Brazilian and German flavors while in Tampa Bay. “Eden is a passionate food adventurer who will transport viewers along with her, “ said Bob Tuschman, General Manager and Senior Vice President Programming, Food Network and Cooking Channel. “The great secret she reveals is that you don’t

need to leave your city to explore the wide range of cultures and cuisines the world has to offer.” Eden Grinshpan graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in London with the “Grande Diplome” in both Pastry and Cuisine. After graduating she went to India to volunteer with different organizations, one of them being an orphanage called Ramanas Garden. Here she came up with the idea of raising money for the orphanage by re-opening a café which had not been in operation for some time, and teaching the children the basics of culinary cuisine. After returning to New York City, Eden enrolled in a management program at The Institute of Culinary Education before working at the bakery, Babycakes. Eden is the co-owner of EthNicitY Productions. Eden Eats is produced by Noise Productions Inc. COOKING CHANNEL (www.cookingchanneltv.com) is an entertainment brand dedicated to today’s passionate food lover. MADE IN WEST TAMPA BAY

I have been fortunate to have worked in a profession for more than 23 years that is all about helping people: Chiropractic. I have seen first-hand the many benefits of correcting and maintaining a body’s spinal structure, by eliminating the interference, or subluxations, that can inhibit nerve flow from the brain to any and every area of the body. I have experienced health and healing through regular chiropractic adjustments myself. It is common sense that by allowing the body to function at its optimum, without nerve interference, it will be able to perform at its optimum, and heal naturally. That’s why so many athletes have chiropractors they see regularly to stay on top of their game! With the onset of a new school year, students participating in athletic programs are required to have a physical examination by the Florida High School Athletic Association. As licensed physicians, Chiropractors perform these exams, because they are highly trained to know proper structure and function, because they work directly with the central nervous system. If you have a son or daughter involved in athletics, I highly recommend you find a reputable chiropractor in your community to evaluate their spine. This may actually prevent certain injuries, and will allow the body to heal faster, should they become injured.

Students not involved in athletics also benefit from regular chiropractic adjustments. One young lady is a patient of Dr. Albert Gadomski, team chiropractor of the Toronto & Dunedin Blue Jays, and the doctor for whom I work in Oldsmar. As a third-grade student in Ms. Jones’ class at Gulf Trace Elementary School, Denasia Ann Dornon achieved perfect scores on the Reading (260-Level 5) and Math (244-Level 5) sections of the FCAT this Spring! She also brought home a straight “A” report card to her parents, Laura & Paul Roskey, Holiday. She received the “Ace of Academics” award for this achievement, earning her a place on the Honor Roll. I am certainly not saying that Denasia achieved academic greatness thanks to chiropractic. However, with regular adjustments she maintained great physical health throughout the school year, enabling her to attend all of her classes and stay focused on her studies. Congratulations, Denasia! Keep up the adjustments and the great work at school!

Music Matters! Barbara & Kevin Abendroth, owners of Music Matters in Trinity, have always taken great pleasure in music and instruments. “We have been in the music business since we were teenagers. We understand the benefits of having music in our lives, and we take great satisfaction getting kids and adults involved in playing music. We hope it will make a difference in their lives, too,” Kevin explains. To more than 3,000 students from the area over the last six years, and to the 400 currently enrolled, music really does matter! There are 30 instructors who teach students of all ages how to play instruments, read music and grow in their talent! Music Matters has a 15-station computer lab for interactive participation by the students to supplement the teacher’s lessons. They also utilize 17 studios with glass doors where parents can observe their child’s lesson with qualified professional. There is also a comfortable waiting area, complete with a coffee bar, plasma televisions, luxury chairs and WiFi. Music Matters, located in the Grand Trinity Plaza at 4112 Little Rd, Trinity has a great selection of instruments & supplies at very affordable rates. Instrument rental options are also available. corner Back To School Safety Tips By Kristin Vogt

As our kids head back to school, out schedules as parents get kind of busy with getting them ready and prepared. Make sure you prepare your children with the necessary important safety tips this year! • Make sure if your child will riding a bus to school, they always have a buddy to walk with. Also ask the other parents to take turns sitting at the bus stop until the bus arrives. • Make sure if your child has any allergies you contact his/her teachers, office safe and nursing staff prior to the first day. It is also helpful to send with an index card with allergy and medical written in bold writing tied to a piece of yarn and have them wear as a necklace (for younger children). You can do this for a couple of days to play it safe. • Make sure that your child has all necessary medications and documents needed by your child's doctor ahead of time so there are no mishaps at the start of school. • Make sure your child knows how he/she will returning home from school and knows important contact information in case a mistake is made. (an index card with parents and emergency contact information in the front of backpack is always a good idea and make sure your child knows it is there for his/her comfort).

• For older children who will be coming home by themselves: have a list of what he/she is supposed to do until parents return home, who to answer phone to and door to as well and make sure they are aware of their surrounds before getting their key out and opening the door (make sure they are not being followed, if they are the last thing they want the stalker to know is where they live and they are home alone) tell them to keep walking until they see a home with someone there and go calmly knock and ask to call 911 for help. Stay at this house until help gets there. Try to give a good description for the officers to help get the stalker. • Whenever walking to school, always use cross walks and check for clear roadways before crossing the streets. • If you are old enough to drive to school, make sure you do not leave any valuables in site (this will reduce the chance for someone to break in to steal) and of course always lock doors and roll up windows. • Parents, make sure you teach your children who it is alright to speak to and go home with. Make sure you have a secret password that only safe friends know! Wishing all a happy, fun and safe first day back to school! Remember your lunch box/money, school supplies, emergency slips, your big smiles and use the crosswalks while walking to and from school! Happy learning to all and to all a great year!
