Rick Wilson says he will continue to oppose Trump to the bitter end — and will even support the recent push for a conservative third-party candidate he says better reflects Republican values. “I am willing to look at a conservative third-party option, even if that candidate can’t pull this thing off and win,” Wilson told WJCT. “And I’m willing to under vote if I have to, and not fill in that line on my ballot.”

Working off this idea, CROP Creative Media was proud to be the production team behind the latest advertisement for FSS. Partnering alongside advertising agency, Daigle Creative, CROP crafted a 30-second spot that tells the story of a little boy meeting his foster mom for the very first time. What the viewer first sees looks like a typical day at an average neighborhood playground - a sweet, little boy playing outside, superhero action figure in hand. But as the camera cuts in for a close-up, we see his eyes light up, and the look on his face changes to one of surprise and delight. Then, we see the superhero figure standing in front of him, smile on her face, and arms held wide. As he jumps into them, suddenly the “real” scene is in front of us - a woman dressed in shorts and a tee shirt, not a superhero outfit. She’s not actually a superhero, but she is a foster mom, and in this child’s eyes, that’s the same thing. Jacksonville Children’s Chorus EXPERIENCE JOY THROUGH MUSIC The mission of the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus is to provide a high-quality choral music education for children of diverse backgrounds, fostering teamwork, self-discipline, accomplishment and pride while filling an important cultural need in the community and sharing the beauty of the choral art form through artistically excellent performances. The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus (JCC) was founded in 1995 at Jacksonville University to fill a need for a children’s music program in the area. In that first year, JCC had only 16 voices. Since then, it has grown to a membership of more than 350 singers participating in five choirs.
JCC gained name recognition in 2001, when it was named the designated children’s chorus of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra (JSO). To ensure diversity among its members, in 1998 JCC established a scholarship program to provide financial assistance to families who cannot afford tuition. This year, more than 35% of the singers receive either partial or full scholarships. The Board of Directors appointed Darren Dailey as the Artistic and Executive Director in 2006. Since that time, JCC has expanded its choir programs, and has developed self-produced, sold-out concerts including the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” event, the annual Cool Side of Yuletide holiday concert and concerts featuring guest artists such as
Amy Grant, Voca People and Kristin Chenoweth. As JCC grows, it has created new choirs and new opportunities for its singers. The Young Men’s Chorus, established in 2011, is designed to meet the specific needs of young men who are experiencing voice expansion. June 24 – July 5 Northern European Performance Tour The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus Touring Choir will begin an exciting tour with performances in northern Europe. These singers, ages 12-18, represent all facets of the northeast Florida and South Georgia communities. Under the direction of Artistic and Executive Director Darren Dailey, the Touring Choir will perform in Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Russia, Finland, and Sweden.
DO YOU KNOW A CHILD WHO LOVES TO SING? While prior musical training is not necessary to participate in the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus, an audition is required. Children will be placed in the appropriate choir group based on their skills, maturity and readiness. Singers do not need to bring a prepared audition piece. The 15-minute audition process is quick and simple. A conductor will listen for the singer’s ability to match pitches, to learn a simple tune and to hold one’s voice part against others. There is no fee to audition. Full and partial scholarships are available based on financial need. Tuition is charged to cover a portion of the actual cost of the program. Chad Landenberger was raised on 80’s cartoons, comic books and skateboarding—all of which influenced who he is today. After graduating as a UNF Osprey with a BFA in Graphic Design, Chad settled in Jacksonville and became a patron of the 904 arts scene. Among his accomplishments are having his art displayed at the Cummer Museum and founding I’M BOARD, a skateboard art show. And art’s not just his passion; it’s also his career. Chad has worked as a graphic designer for local clients like Intuition Ale Works and Green Room Brewing, as well as international clients like Red Bull and Calvin Klein Golf. Aaron Hazouri is a native Jacksonville cartoonist and illustrator. Summer is here! But along with warmer weather, trips to the pool, and the Fourth of July, comes a not-so-fun reality...the summer slide. The summer slide describes what happens when young minds sit idle for three months. One study revealed that kids lose about 2.6 months of their math skills and approximately 2 months of reading skills during summer break. As a former teacher, a concern when school started back up in the fall, was spending too much time getting students back up to speed before proceeding to that year’s new information. So what’s a parent to do? I’m so glad you asked! As always, WJCT has you and your children covered. We have some tips to help your little ones of all ages put the brakes on the Summer Slide!

Two Thumbs Up How Good Food Should Taste
The already swimsuit savvy don’t necessarily have to keep an eye on thigh-corrupting carbs or calorie counting. But as a curvaceous foodie, I find that prior to summer’s pre-beach appearances, a restaurant like Seasons 52 appeases both my palate and calorie-conscious consumption. With a seasonal and creative menu (yes, the derivative of the name), super fresh ingredients, and a caloric accounting for each dish, Seasons 52 delivers tasty food without forking out the guilt of eating a great meal. The pre-cursor to the upcoming summer menu includes spring items such as Honey and Herb All Natural Roasted Chicken on a bed of fern fiddle heads, Caramelized Grilled Sea Scallops with lemon risotto and asparagus, beautiful salads, fresh veggie sides, house-made soups, and delicious mini desserts.
Dessert: Toasted Almond Amaretto – layers of cake saturated with Amaretto topped with whipped cream and almond. There are many of these minidesserts for sweet-seekers to choose from all at a $3 price point.
All flavorful and health conscious courses, that aren’t presented in a blatant attempt to make more corpus consumers like myself uncomfortable. Highlights: The starter for my amazing eating experience included the Duck Lollipops. These succulent wings had a crispy skin even though it was blanketed with a sweet and spicy glaze. Great flavors on this appetizer to be sure (and the hot towels that were brought to the table for post-duck sticky fingers was a perfect touch). Additionally, the Beef Short Rib entrée was fork tender and seasoned perfectly - another flavorful win. So away with you muffin top! With such tasty fresh food and clearly outlined menu calorie counts, springing into summer with a streamlined and beach-worthy body may just be an easier feat when choosing Seasons 52 to eat!

AH: I didn’t receive any formal training. I was a Corporate Trainer for 20 years, had a child, and had a midlife crisis! I have always loved to play with flavors in the kitchen, especially with rum cakes, so I convinced my mom to go into business with me.
AH: My family loves the Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake topped with Peanut Butter Frosting, chocolate chips, and peanut butter chips. But, I have to make sure I have a gallon of milk to chase it with!

Butterscotch Rum Balls
INGREDIENTS
DIRECTIONS
2 cups Oreos, finely crushed (approx. 1 package of Oreos)
1. Before you start mixing: a. Crush the Oreos. b. Place a small cookie sheet next to your mixing bowl and cover with parchment paper then lightly dust with powdered sugar.
2 cups Butterscotch Chips 2 cups powdered sugar ¼ cup vanilla rum ¼ cup light corn syrup ½ tsp Vanilla
2. In large bowl, mix together crushed Oreos with 2 cups powdered sugar.
(Imitation vanilla is great)
3. Stir in butterscotch chips.
¼ cup powdered sugar in a small bowl
4. Stir in rum, corn syrup, and vanilla. (Tip: wear latex gloves and hand mix.) 5. Shape into small balls and place on cookie sheet. (Tip: use a cookie scoop to obtain even sized rum balls). 6. After all of the rum balls are formed, roll each one in the bowl of powdered sugar. 7. Place in an airtight container at least 5 days before serving to develop flavor – but no longer than 4 weeks.

MUSIC STORY BEHIND THE MUSIC: Cynthia Ann Stephanie “Cyndi” Lauper is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and LGBT activist. Her career has spanned over 30 years. Her debut solo album in 1983, “She’s So Unusual” was the first debut female album to chart four top-five hits on the Billboard Hot 100, earning Lauper the Best New Artist award at the 27th Grammy Awards in 1985. Her success continued with the soundtrack for the motion picture, “The Goonies” and her second record in 1986, “True Colors.” Since 1989, Lauper has released ten studio albums and participated in many other projects. What is unique about St Augustine Distillery?
Any local Jax celebs stopped by for a tour or tasting?
So. Many. Things. To start, our home is a beautifully renovated commercial ice plant. We’re also the first craft distillery in Florida to make bourbon whiskey on a large scale. We are community owned and funded, and have created approximately 35 local jobs. We have also built partnerships with like-minded organizations, and we give as much as we can to local arts and cultural entities. We believe in supporting those who support us.
Governor Rick Scott, Mayor Nancy Shaver of the City of St. Augustine, and a good deal of local and national media folks, as well as politicians and officials. We make booze. We’re a pretty popular place to visit.
Tell us about your bestselling libation. We cannot sell cocktails on-site due to Florida law, but give free tours and tastings where guests are able to check out our museum, watch a short film, take a guided tour of our production facility, and then head into the tasting room for samples before exiting through the gift shop. The Florida Mule has always been our most popular sample.
What do you want more people to know about your business? Our owners, Philip McDaniel and Mike Diaz, have been a huge catalyst behind the change in legislation for craft distilleries in Florida. There were laws left from the Prohibition stating that a distillery could not sell their spirits on-site in a retail location. St. Augustine Distillery lobbied to change those laws and Philip started the Florida Craft Distillers Guild. We’re not exactly where we want to be yet, but we have made a huge difference. We are now able to sell two bottles per brand per person per calendar year. That’s been a game changer compared to originally not being able to sell any bottles at all.

Grammy, Emmy, and Tony award-winning musical icon, Cyndi Lauper will be live in concert on her “Detour Tour” in support of her upcoming studio album, “Detour.” BUZZ: How was working on this country album different than your other albums? CL: At first, I didn’t know the guys I was working on the album with. They play together all the time, so I had to figure out how to connect to them. I didn’t want to do cookie-cutter records. After we tested out some songs together, there came a point where all of a sudden, we all connected. So that took it to a new level, and a new bar of what this album could be. The connections in the song became real and soulful, and that’s the back bone of county music—soul.
BUZZ: With all the different genres of albums you’ve made, which was the hardest to make and why? CL: I thought this country album was going to be hard, but once I found myself into it, I was okay. I think it is about the roots of the music I play. It’s a singers’ record, and of course, I want to sing the roots of popular music.
BUZZ: Is an original album in the works or will you be tackling another musical first? CL: I am going to tackle another musical. I am already involved with one, and I might become involved with another. I also wrote an original song with Jean Michel Jarre, and I write on this tour. I’m probably going to do an unreleased song that I used to do and never recorded.
BUZZ: What has changed the most in you throughout the years, musically and personally? CL: I’ve come back around again, that’s how it always is. It’s a circle. The scary thing is when your life becomes like a Johnny Mitchell song or a Rolling Stones song, that’s when you know that art imitates life. When life imitates art, it’s a little scary. So, you have to watch not to go down that road.
BUZZ: Who is on the top of your list of artists to collaborate with in the near future? CL: While I still can, I would love to do something with Dolly Parton. I love her, and I love Jewel too. I was just listening to Jewels’ record, “My Father’s Daughter” and it’s so beautiful. She’s been part of my life in a way for a very long time.

I also attended Jacksonville University and the University of North Florida before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. This is a “children first” law firm. What are some frequently asked questions you receive from your clients? Regarding debt relief, will I be able to get credit again after I file bankruptcy? While I discourage running out and obtaining credit after filing for relief under Chapter 7 of the United States Bankruptcy Code, most of my clients receive pre-approved credit applications in the mail shortly after their bankruptcy is discharged. Please understand that you will probably have to pay higher interest rates.
What are my rights after an arrest? After you have been arrested, you have two rights: first, you have the right to remain silent and second, you have the right to an attorney. The arresting office is required to “read you your rights” via the Miranda Warning. The officer must also respect those rights, but you have to be careful and not make any comments. One may be able to fight an arrest on the grounds of police misconduct if the following occurs: the officer tries to trick you, intimidate, or force you into making a statement or saying anything at all before you have retained the counsel of a defense lawyer. To recap, do not give any information that may incriminate you at any time until you speak with your defense counsel.
