The ring road needs to have a one way system.

The ring road has unintentionally become one of the main features of the town that was designed to help traffic in the town but it has unintentionally stopped the town from developing and evolving.

The mills used to be a key feature of the town but the ring road has cut them off. Access to these areas are no longer desirable because of the long wait at the traffic lights. This has caused these areas to be run down.

Current Green areas in the Town Centre.

Urban Structure Limitations

Reasons for the Underground road system.

The main reason for Putting the Ring road underground and creating a one way system with slip roads will reduce congestion on the roads and travel times. There are many sets of traffic lights along the ring road to give way to traffic and pedestrians with all slow down the traffic and increasing the amount of pollution as it brings down the cars efficiency. All cars a set to turn Electric by 2026 with will help in reducing the pollution of the town too. Another Pro for creating the Underground ring road is that it allows students to easily walk into the town from the colleges/ university with out having to wait at traffic lights and stop traffic. This will create a new backbone for the town (The River) allowing the town to expand to its old heritage, the mills with will allow for new construction designs. This project/ stage will start at the beginning of 2023

1. Section shows how the road will be dropped at the top of the ring road to allow for the green pathways.

2. Section shows how the road will be dropped at the top of the town to allow for green bridges from West to East.

3. Section shows how the bottom of the ring road has been moved underground to allow free movement.

Why Green areas? Provides many flourishing green spaces that will flow throughout the town to create retreating areas for the urban residents. Rural Housing is expensive compared to living in the Town but by doing this it will make living in the Town more desirable. The green areas will also help reduce the Towns Carbon footprint. Underground road system and green areas are expected to be finished by 2031 to allow plenty of time for the FGM to be built on time for the special occasion.

Design Proposal The museum will be built by the 15th of July 2033 to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) This allow for the underground one way ring road and the green spaces to be formed to create a desirable access from the train station The Future Gaming Museum has been chosen as one of the designs in the Golden Age project to provide Gaming entertainment to the Citizens of Huddersfield. The Town is lacking quality Leisure and entertainment as everything is on the lower end of basic in this area. Other than been the largest Town in England it hasn’t got that much going for it other than the Football team. Drastic action needs to be taken to mark the Town as an Iconic place on the map. The FGM has been designed specifically this criteria with is multifunctional Gaming areas. There are gaming experience for everyone what every the genre or style of play. This could be styles such as intense, wondering, old school, sociable, fantasy and many more. The spaces can be changed regular to encourage people to come back to the museum. Each persons experience will be different to the others as the games will be at different stages each time and there’s many different ways to travel up and down the floors with the slides. The FGM is unique to any other gaming museum around the world with its incorporation of Mojos VR contact lenses. The unique experience provided by the Future Gaming Museum will encourage people from all over the world to come to Huddersfield to experience it for them selves. The museum has been designed to be energy efficient to follow the Golden Age scheme, which is the clean up plan to create a zero carbon Town.

Railway St (Facing East) Stage 4 Golden Age Project

Northumberland (Facing East) Stage 4 Golden Age Project High-rise buildings by 2100 This is a huge step since the FGM, but the reason for this is to condense living areas to the Town centre/ Urban area. This will give much of the rural landscape back to nature, allowing nature to take over these areas to aid in the process of healing the world from Global warming that Humans caused. All high-rise buildings will be self sufficient to provide a carbon Neutral Town.

Shefnews. (2019) The National Videogame Museum, Sheffield.

teamLab. (N.A). Borderless, Digital Art Museum - Tokyo.

Polygon Staff. (2015). Pax provides Exhibitions/ Gaming conventions for a limited period world wide.

The National Videogame Museum has a wide range of Gaming content displayed to educate and influence gaming culture. The museum has multiple versions of the consoles so that the guests can interact with the games and games consoles. Consoles range through all of the periods to show the development of gaming.

The Digital Art Museum does not contain any games but it provides interactive AR artwork that can be manipulated. The museum gave AR a purpose instead of it being just a gimmick. The Borderless Museum was the main influence that helped form the Future Gaming Museum.

Pax provides a range of activities during their events such as talks from gaming companies. This gives the opportunity for the gamers to be able to question and raise any current issues with the developers. (Newswire, P. R. 2019, March 14th.) (For more information refer to the dissertation).

Jorgensen, T. (2018). Ready Player one - Movie, 2018.

Paz , M. D. (2019). Supergirl - TV series 2020

Scubli, C. (2020).

Ready Player One 2018: The movie played a key part in the conceptional theory. In the movie there is a VR simulation called The Oasis. It is a VR world where the gamers can do as they please. It’s the future of the gaming industry. The Oasis is the main source of entertainment in this world. To play the Oasis uses must own a VR headset and a 360 treadmill. (Barton, J. 2021).

Supergirl 2020: During Supergirl: season 5, it illustrates the implications of using VR contact lenses; created by the character Obsidian North. This device allowed the public to access a virtual world that was a futuristic version of our own. The lenses give its users the ability to be who they wanted and do as they please (Barton, 2021). The simulations had a mixture of bots and real people within them. The moral of the story is that there are many dangers in the VR world that need to be explored and things achieved in the simulations were never going to be as fulfilling as the real world. (Barton, 2021).

Spiderman: Far from home 2019: In the movie there is a villain called Mysterio where he uses advanced drone technology which utilises integrated projectors. These drones can form AR simulations/projections to manipulate the environment. The drones are able to project mixed reality images onto its environment. By doing so the protagonist can disrupt people’s perceptions and their judgment. During one scene, Spiderman falls off a building because the MR projections have hidden the edge. This is why the buildings can’t be manipulated at human level using MR projections (Barton, J. (2021).

Mojo’s Mixed reality contact lenses The MR contact lenses was one of the main drives of the project as its technology intertwines all these different influential styles into one.

TarkId. (2017). Titanic Mill, Linthwaite Since the building was in the old mill territory it was vital to include some of the mills approach/ form since it would be such a large building. The design could have similar amount of floors and a bulky industrial structure.

Poggi, P. (2017) Pompidou Centre, Paris. The Pomidou has a large spanning floor area which influenced the structural approach to achiving the large spanning area of the 4th floor.

Influences

Contributions

EA Sports, Sony studios, Saga, Infinity ward, Rockstar, Eurocom Entertainment, Ubisoft Reflections and Infinity ward, Riot games, Activison and Various local gaming companies. The games creator will play an important role in the creation of the museum. After approaching a couple of gaming companies about the museum proposal, word got out! Other gaming companies started to approach us about the proposal as they wanted to get involved in the project. There is now a mixture of Local, UK and worldwide companies involved. Due to so many gaming companies jumping on board the project it meant that their contribution fees could be divided out between them. The games creators involved are required to provide exclusive gaming content and pre-release content that is only available at the FGM. In return for their contribution, they will be given free advertisement as their games will be on display to the guests. The FGM will also be funded by Donations from the National lottery fund.

28

CHP Ventilation: The CHP system will be used to provide ventilation for the building. This will provide the Gaming Museum with a constant and consistent temperature throughout the year. The entirety of the power needed to supply this system will be provided by the solar panel cladding.

There will be 2 AHU systems on this floor. one will provide controled heating and ventilation for the pods and the other will provide it to the large open Pokemon Go space.

The main Plant room is on this floor. This room will provide water and electric throught the building. The CHP system will be positioned in this room.

Circulation

29

Bubble deck flooring: Bubble deck flooring: The bubble deck flooring will decrease the total weight of the 4th floor of the build as it will require less concrete to form the system. The bubbles will also increase the strength of the floor allowing for longer spanning, making them suitable for the museums the spanning Truss. This system is also cost effective when compared to traditional slab systems used.

Truss system will be fabricated in sections off site and then Arc welded together on site. The truss system is designed to be able to allow all pipe work, electrical systems and ventilation to travel through them as they would with voids in a normal building. Pile foundations under each truss/ column.

Idea Statica. (U.D). Spatial welding and joints Truss to increase strength wand reduce the stress of the joint from the spanning truss system.

Leone, P. (2013).

Glass Facade The glass facade will use squash court technology to connect the glass panels. The areas that will elevate from the building that are created to have a Tetris game style will have a transparent LED film over it to allow the building to display digital gaming images on the facade making the building stand out and seem more playful.

Edina. (U.D). CHP System The system will provide heating and ventilation for the FGM. To make the system more efficient, it will be powered by the Solar panel system that is on the roof of the building. Its the most efficent way for suplying heating and ventilation for a building as this scale. The chp system will be on the 4th floor whilst there will be 2 AHU systems on on the 2nd lower ground floor. This will allow the heating to be controled differently for certain areas. The pods with be cooler than the 2 open rooms because the inside is shaded.

Rooflights. (2015). Solar panels West facing to catch the most light. These will provide powere for the CHP system and the server room for the Gaming content. There are sky lights running along the roof that will automtically open when the heat sensors are triggered on the top floor.

Passive house technology incorporated into the design. All windows will have a minimum of 3.7 U-value this is required to reduce the amount of power needed to supply the building with heating and ventilation. Through the Museum there will be no thermal breaks. This will reduce any heat loss through the building and it will also help in keeping the temperature at a constant. Any fluctuations in the temperature will be dealt with either by the mechanical heat censored vents/ windows or the AHU systems. Since the building is quite similar to a greenhouse it was importing to include these censored vents similar to the winter gardens in Sheffield. This system will provide refreshing temperatures in the summer as heat gain will be reduces. During the winter it will keep the cold outside.

Muroblock. (U.D).

GSW windows. (U.D). Ventilation grills will be placed at the side of each glass area that is counter leaving from the building. These will also be connected to heat sensors that will automatically open and close depending on the temperature of the building.

Muroblock. (N.D).

Tech Used

31

Techblog.(2018) Omnifinity Omnideck (360 Treadmill): The Omnideck will play a large part in this future of gaming just like its shown in ready player one The Omnideck has a diameter of 4.2m. The treadmill comes with an integrated tracking system that enables its users to move naturally in any direction within the virtual environment. Omnifinity’s, Omnideck plays a key role in creating full immersion when combined with one of the latest VR contact lenses. The Omnideck is special in its capabilities as it allows any type of movement, whether that is walking, running, jumping, or crawling. The Omnideck uses a censored rolling system that rolls you back to its central axis point preventing you from running off the machine. This can be turned on and off when entering and exiting the game. The Omnidecks will be disguised as portals in the virtual world. The reason for this is to misguide the guest so that they think they have been teleported beyond the boundaries of the building. The device is a major part in the Future Gaming Museum design, and they are far superior to traditional 360 treadmills that have many movement restrictions such as not being able to crawl (size related issues) (Barton, J. 2021).

Warner Bros.(2019) VR Contact Lenses: Mojos VR contact lenses have taken over the future. The lenses are used in all of our day-to-day activities such as for directions, TV, adverts, social medial. It is a highly advanced phone integrated with our eyes. Its 14,000 ppi display makes its AR projections crisp and life like, unlike the old traditional VR headsets that were dense and poor quality. The lenses have an integrated image sensor and a motion sensor compacted inside the device allowing the AR images to be stable. Although the lenses are energy efficient, they will require you to remove them on a night to recharge whilst you sleep. The Mojo contact lenses have the ability to project holograms onto, or into anything. This will help to form the MR environment inside the Future Gaming Museum. The contact lenses will create gaming environment projections onto the walls as well as producing holograms within these spaces. The holograms are integrated, creating moving gaming characters that you can interact with in the gaming spaces (Barton, J. 2021).

Tesla Studios (2017) Full Body Haptic Suit: The Tesla suit will be used in the museum so that the visitors will be able to feel everything in the virtual world ranging from touch physical exertion, and change in climate. The Tesla suit consists of a two-piece suit with incorporated Haptic feedback technology to stimulate the user’s muscles. The suit can track your natural movement whilst moving in the museum’s virtual spaces. The suits may also be programmed with movements to help the body learn new techniques, helping users to do movements in the game that they could not do on their own without training. The Tesla suit can adapt to each game/gaming environment with ease. The suits are waterproof making them suitable for the artificially weathered environments and for general cleaning. These suits will be supplied to the future museums guests when they enter the building to provide a life like immersive experience whilst playing the games (Barton, J. 2021).

Hillier, B (2016) Mixed Reality (MR): The ideology of the creation of a mixed reality environment is by digitally overlaying aspects onto the environment by combining real and artificial components. These components are able cohabit and interact with each other. Mojos VR contact lenses have aloud mixed reality to take its true form and flourish throughout the world. This product stands out as significant design that formed the era of mixed reality. The device had taken the world by storm and it is used by everyone over the age of 5, integrating itself into many people’s life. It has formed an extra sense adding to our natural 5. A Mixed reality environment should be able to stimulate all five of a person’s senses whilst in this realm. To do this may be difficult as some of these senses will be considerably more difficult to simulate than others. Our sensors can be simulated with the aid of Mojos VR contact lenses, Omnifinitys, Omnideck (360 treadmill) and the Tesla full body haptic suit (Barton, J. 2021).

This allows people to transition from the intense gaming experiences provided by the pods. The pokemon space can appeal to all as you can parents who don’t want to play, can take there kids and walk round the fantasy spaces whilst the kids have fun catching pokemon. Once the gamers have collected the pokemon they can Battle them in this room as well as train them. This allows pokemon go to have a purpose other than just catching them.
