Pulling inspiration from recent news on international homophobic genocides, my goal was to pull on my own experiences as a gay man and the feelings I currently have towards to the state of LGBTQ+ rights around the world. Each pattern expresses an individualized emotion or feeling including a lack of awareness, fear, anger, sadness, and empowerment. The patterns that were created digitally on Adobe Illustrator, were then applied to a capsule collection focused on blending the lines of gender and sexuality farther than cis-gender label. This collection is for all people, regardless of identity, in a time and world were injustice is still extremely prevalent.
This project was created for Lucas Maethger for an introduction to textiles course at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
