Hand Tufted Hand tufting is an art of weaving rugs on a vertical frame by using a hand-operated tufting gun that threads the fiber yarn through a fabric, forming loops or tufts of required length. Jaipur Rugsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; hand-tufted rugs use premium fibers, especially high quality wool, so that the finished rugs look much like hand-knotted rugs. However, unlike a hand-knotted rug, a hand-tufted rug is created without tying knots. Consequently, it is less durable. Hand tufting technique is not very time intensive and does not require the same level of skill that hand-knotting does. Therefore, this process makes it possible to produce high quality rugs for more affordable cost than hand-knotted rugs in an unlimited variety of designs, colors, and textures, thus democratizing the luxurious. A hand-tufted rug requires up to 3 months to be made and its life span ranges from 3 up to 10 years, depending on fiber and maintenance.

Carding and Spinning Carding is the operation during which wool is combed and cleaned to make a web of fibers suitable for spinning which consists in twisting the wool fibers to form yarns. Wool which is destined to make tufted rugs is carded and spun by machine.
Dyeing and Drying After spinning, the precious materials are collected, washed and immersed in dye vats which contain boiling hot water heated by rudimentary fires in which the required amount of dye is added. The dye, which composition depends on the desired designs, is constantly turned to make sure that color is homogeneous. Designing Art for the Floor Design Development The design is the foundation of the beauty of a rug. Our designersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; creativity, vast experience and passion create unique designs that combine tradition and innovation to express breathtaking beauty. Afterwards, these designs are drawn on a cotton cloth showing their borders to be filled with the desired materials by skilled artisans using tufting guns.
The Tufting Hand-tufting Hand-tufted rugs are made using a tufting gun: a hand-operated tool which is basically a sophisticated needle that punches yarns of fiber into a cotton cloth stretched on a frame. The design of the rug is drawn on the cloth and the artisan fills in the pattern with the appropriate color fiber. Once the design is completely tufted, the rug is removed from the frame and a cotton coating is glued to the back of the rug in order to hold the fiber pile in place. Once the glue is settled, an additional protective cotton backing is applied for more strength and a fringe is sewed on the rug. The last step is to shear the rug to make sure that all excess loops on the top of the rug are cut. Embossing is also conducted to give the rugs a high and low features effect. The result is astonishing, creating rugs in unrestricted designs and colors after a relatively short period of time ready to adorn beautifully every room of your home.
