Design Collection Jenny Jones & Kavi
The experience of a room is created by diverse impressions– spaces are felt as much as seen. They also transform over time in response to our touch, telling their own distinctive stories. Jaipur Rugs’ story transpires from collaboration between contemporary design sensibilities and traditional Indian artisan’s knowledge, woven together in harmony. Each rug in this book is designed to be expressive and characterful, carrying warmth of the artisans to the homes of our customers around the world. It is this sense of a journey, which define the carpets made by Jaipur Rugs.
Jenny Jones Jenny Jones is an international designer with 15 years of experience in designing for clients and stock collections to create compelling Art on the Floor. She is recognized for her use of unique color combinations, innovative design, and variable texture. Jenny Jones’ philosophy is one of creating respect for weavers. In collaboration with Jaipur Rugs, Jenny and her husband Dennis have developed the “Alternative Education Program”. The aim of the program is to introduce literacy, numeracy and life skills to weavers into selected rural areas.
Kavi Kavi draws from the rich heritage of her childhood homes in rural India and the simplicity discovered through travelling the world. As a graduate from School of The Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) Kavi is a painter, rug designer and curator of everything design. Each carpet she creates symbolises her appreciation of beauty – in thought and action. “I have always wanted to combine art and design with utility; in the same method that fashion design combines aesthetics with function. By using the space on the floor, the rug becomes both a canvas and an inevitable piece of art in the living space”- Kavi.
Project Error studies the concept of misprintsnature’s interruption of mechanical duplication to create unique pieces of overlooked art. Drawing inspiration from the crossroads of nature and machine, works of art emerge as new, spontaneous and unique designs. This collection explores what happens when the ordered precision of machines is sidelined by happy accidents. These errors are volitional and are gateways of discovery that see beyond co-ordination - human or mechanical. Each design in this collection is an original, unintentional expression as seen through the eyes of nature.

This collection attempts to bridge gaps in time and converts old designs into new realms of color and configurations, with no two carpets being alike. Imagine a world of unrestricted spontaneity; of experimenting in a laboratory with nature as your partner, creating together shapes and forms of life in serene motion. Enthused by natural material, classic color palettes, and the distinctive work of artisans and craftspeople ; Chaos Theory is inspired by the purity and chaos in nature tracing the beauty in nature’s seemingly cluttered patterns. Natural forms in transition were studied for inspiration, and recreated on unexplored mediums with the help of batik to create unrestrained artwork. Each rug in this collection is created by hand weaving nearly 100,000 asymmetric knots of finest hand- carded, hand-spun wool and bamboo silk in every square meter.

This collection aims to arrest motion, which is life and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life.
