MANIFEST O James reay
EXPRESS YOURSELF get your message across.
if you are not expressing yourself but expressing something in the way that someone else would, they may as well of hired the other person for the job. bring your voice to the table while fulfilling the brief appropriately, that’s just as important.
NO SELL OUT betrayal of the self
an understanding of your red lines when it comes to morality and design is a personal thing.it is proof of character. to give you an example; I am never going to design for UKIP. simple as, they up hold none of my values.
INSPIRTION music, film, tv, tumblr, pinterest, walking, talking, newspapers, magazines, politics, design, art, illustration, calligraphy, typography, photograhy, sculpture, gigs, people, places, antiques, record collectiong, cartoons, shopping, sex, drugs.
HAVE I NONE
be inspired by EVERYTHING.
JU ST LU ST
is it trending? yes. but it it you?
trends will come and go in terms of style. but your personality won’t. so don’t just lust after a trend just because it is in style. make your own style.
I AMA POUSER design is not just photoshop.
you can master photoshop, every shortcut can be etched into your mind, you can put a horses head on Mr Cameron but you cannot design. it takes inspiration, knowledge and ideas to be successful.
DEDICATED FOLLOWER OF DESIGN it’s a time consuming profession
make sure your adobe is is up to date, keep checking creative bloq for interesting articles, keep trying new things, keep an notepad handy for ideas, study, research, look for work, promote yourself, follow, be inspired.
MAKE MITAKES
mistakes will never be intentional but just don’t be afraid to make them. They will be a learning curve. wheather the mistake comes from dealing with clients or the work.
mistakes are blessings in disguise
GET HAPPY not having fun your doing it wrong
if you aren’t happy, don’t do it. design and designing are meant to be fun, that is why you chose to do it as a career. If you aren’t enjoying it. take some time off and come bcak to it. go get a coffee, or tea & a cookie.
