ROLE DELEGATION

REFLECTION Ease of delegation from the offset of the project was a promising indication that the team would function well. The Team Leader produced a Gantt Chart for the group to follow which consists of individual tasks and deadlines. Through the use of social networking

sites the group was also able to keep in contact over the Christmas period to ensure individual tasks were completed. These organizational aids allowed the presentation to be completed effectively and efficiently.

GANTT CHART

JOSH Places like Manchester, Sheffield and London have subways but Huddersfield doesn’t, so I decided to design one.

Visual Specification Manual similar to the ‘New York Transit Authority Graphic Standards Manual’.

Back in Manchester the Metrolink was Part of the development process included the best way of getting around and part of making a questionnaire to find out where this was because of how clear everything people wanted to go and how the service was. The New York Subway system is should run. This resulted in a very also an influence because of its modern realistic subway proposal that aims to minimalistic appeal. I chose to make a keep Huddersfield connected.

JAMES For my final piece I had lots of trouble deciding on which direction to take my work in. In the end I decided to create a booklet showing off the city of Huddersfield and the area that the public would like to go see if they were visiting or wanted to find certain areas.

as I think this is what the city is trying to aim for when looking at its past as an industrial hard working city. I designed the booklet using a range of different programs from Photoshop to Illustrator, InDesign and Lightroom.

I think that overall my final piece swayed a little from the original brief but still Through the designing phase I went kept the meaning that I think was through lots of different ideas and wanted. I think that the brief asked to improved at every step. At first my idea show the movement within a city and I was to create a board so that they could think that I have shown this by showing be placed around the city showing off people how to move around the city and main features and area and also giving the best and most visited areas. these booklets away. Through the design I wanted to keep a simple and modern tone 8 / 26

Each ticket includes string through so they would resemble the name of the stations which my train swing tickets. I designed my tickets using Photoshop and stuck them onto card to stops at. make them sturdier. Throughout the process of creating my tickets my designs improved. For I think that my final piece relates well to the brief as train travel is a form of example, I changed the font on my tickets movement through the city that many so they would look more realistic as it now resembles the font used on real train people use everyday.

SUBHUD OUTCOMES

These are the outcomes of my project ‘SUBHUD Visual Specification Manual’ - they serve as a complete guide on how to brand the subway.

because of its modern look, condensed and expanded options and variety of weights. Colours were the most difficult thing to get right but I chose red because it looks recognisable and stands out.

Detail and composition is something that I think is very important so I made design choices like using paper size with a 1:1.618 ratio - also know as the Golden Ratio. FF DIN is used throughout

After all the hard work I put into it I think the outcomes look amazing, and I look forward to getting them book bound.

I improved them by making the font more suitable, which made the tickets look more realistic as the font resembles the font on real train tickets. I also changed the backgrounds and colour schemes to improve how the tickets looked. 20 / 26
