Please help our parish reach our goal of $29,779.00 by turning in your pledge as soon as possible. You can use the pledge card you received by mail or use the blank cards on the table in the church entry. Thank you for your generosity!

You can order from Schwan’s Home Delivery and 20% of the products and 40% of e-certificate sales will go back to the Ladies Guild. In addition, Schwan’s will contribute 5% of all your orders to the Ladies Guild for the rest of the year. Thank you, Paulette Ohnemus *************************************************** CHRISTIANS COMMUNITY IN ACTION: St. Elizabeth Seton will probably service 50 families this year. We will take care of 6 families, Rel Ed will take care of 2 families. We are asking members of the parish to help with the other 4 families. Items need to be returned by Sat. Dec. 20 or Sun. Dec. 21. We will be packing our families baskets after Mass Sun. Dec. 21st. Thank you so much! **************************************************** ST JOSEPH FAMILY SHELTER: Thank you so much for your gift of the creative meals you have provided for our guests during the past year. (By providing meals, you not only make our guests feel cared for, you also take a burden off of staff who would be cooking if the meal weren’t provided.) With the increase in food costs for all families, we appreciate that you have continued to provide the 3-4 Lasagnas, 8-10 pounds of sloppy joes, 60 pieces of fried chicken, 8-10 large pizzas, etc necessary to feed the 30 people at the shelter. Your generosity in providing the meals every month saves us $2500 each year. We truly cannot thank you enough! **************************************************** CHRISTMAS MASS SCHEDULE: Wednesday, Christmas Eve Masses at 5:00 pm and at Midnight. Thursday, Christmas Day, Mass at 9:00 pm. ***************************************************** DECORATING THE CHURCH FOR CHRISTMAS: We are planning to decorate the church for the holidays on Sunday, Dec. 21st at 3:00 pm. We need volunteers to help with this project. Please come and put your talents to great use. We appreciate any help you can give with this project. Thank you, Julie Schlicher.

Page 3 DEAR ST. ELIZABETH PARISHIONERS: The scene of this Luke’s story of Mary and the Incarnation is Nazareth. Perhaps you remember my description of the town Nazareth as it is now. It is a very pretty town full of all sorts of Christian religious sites such as the Basilica dedicated to this very scene that we hear in the Gospel today. The church is built over the ruins that many believe to be Mary’s home. As you walk in the large basilica you see a large space with chairs surrounding a large opening in the center of the church. You might notice that there is no central altar which at first would seem odd in a Catholic Church especially one of this significance. Walking toward this large space you realize you are looking down into the ruins of Mary’s home and also down in this space, opposite the ruins is the main altar There is some seating down into the area around the altar, but most of the seating is up above in the many folding chairs. There is an ancient myth attached to this basilica. It is said that protestants are unable to lift these chairs and move them, yet Catholics could move them easily. It seems as though the power of this myth has faded a bit in 2000 years as some protestant friends of mine debunked the myth right away. This simple story represents a huge moment in the history of the world. The moment when Heaven came down to earth, in Jesus’ birth. And as Mary held that child in her arms, for the first time Heaven looked up at creation in the form of a mother’s face. And now the news…. As if Kip Ferguson does not have enough lofty titles, he has been granted one more, “The Vicar of Ushers.” We ask you to help The Vicar of Ushers at both weekend Masses in taking up collections and ushering people during Communion. A big thank you goes out to Larry Schabel , John Greubel and Kip Ferguson for their hard work in fixing our water leak in the parking lot. They worked very hard through some pretty extreme conditions and cold temperatures. When you see them you might say thank you for all of their work. Run2win4Him James Kirby
