H O T E L INFORMATION Skovshoved Hotel is located in charming Skovshoved, one of Copenhagen’s most exclusive areas just 7 kilometres from Copenhagen city centre. There are many good shopping areas nearby; Jægersborg Allé and Strandvejen in Hellerup amongst others.

The bus departs from outside of the hotel and the train station is within walking distance.

Within 15 minutes it is possible to be in downtown Copenhagen to enjoy the city’s culture, cafés, restaurants, theatres, and nightlife.

One can enjoy the beautiful surrounding nature close to Skovshoved Hotel. It is possible to arrange a tour in a horse-drawn carriage or to rent one of the hotel’s bicycles for a ride through the Royal Hunting Grounds (Dyrehaven) to watch deer wander freely. We also arrange walking trips through the historical fishing village of Skovshoved to learn about the history of the area.

There is a private bathing jetty for the hotels’ guests or two of Copenhagen’s best beaches within walking distance – Bellevue Beach and Charlottenlund Strandpark.

Copenhagen’s oldest golf club, Copenhagen Golf Club, is located only a few kilometres away.

For the children, Bakken (the world’s oldest working amusement park from 1583).

Providing the most visceral yet engaging sports car experience in the British luxury car maker’s current range, the V12 Vantage S delivers exceptional sporting agility underpinned by admirable long distance refinement.

Equipped with the excellent 573 PS Aston Martin AM28 6.0-litre V12 engine, featuring latest generation Bosch engine management, the car is capable of reaching 205 mph. Peak and low rev torque has been improved appreciably, with the V12 Vantage S generation.

With 620 Nm available at 5,750 rpm – up from 570 Nm previously – the

V12 Vantage S is not to be found wanting. Crucially, too, low rev torque – measured at just 1,000 rpm – leaps from 440 Nm to 510 Nm in the V12 engine. This serves to both flatten and fatten the torque curve, thereby significantly improving drivability.

Aston Martin said: “The V12 Vantage S is, simply, pure Aston Martin. It is extreme in its nature yet truly timeless in its design language. Learning from our successes on the track feeds the development of this type of car” Race car technology runs right through the DNA of the V12 Vantage S with, for instance, CNC machined combustion chambers and hollow cam shafts just two examples of track technology feeding through to the road.

Another clear example is the car’s gearbox. The Sportshift™ III AMT (automated manual transmission) is a major development of the automated manual gearbox that appears in the current V8 Vantage S. Designed and engineered to exploit the full sporting potential of the V12 engine, the Sportshift™ III hydraulically actuated automated manual transmission provides motorsport-style paddle shift changes for optimum performance delivery and efficiency. The unit is also appreciably lighter compared to the V12 Vantage - saving 25 kg.

This race-derived and motorsport proven technology – used routinely in Aston Martin Racing’s race-winning Vantage GT4, GT3 and GTE competition cars – provides for great driver control with only milliseconds of torque interruption and delivers precise and swift gear changes.

The Sportshift™ III transaxle, from transmission experts Oerlikon Graziano, joins an extensive array of sport- and track-focused developments that ensure the V12 Vantage S is fully equipped to exploit the huge performance potential of its 6.0- liter naturally aspirated AM28 engine.

The debut of three-stage adaptive damping – another ‘first’ for the Vantage family – allows the driver to more precisely tailor the car’s dynamic character. ‘Normal’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Track’ modes provide a broad swathe of dynamic performance that can be tuned to better suit the driver’s requirements. The system also governs the level of power steering assistance offered.

Working alongside the extended adaptive damping system is a ‘Sport’ mode, controlled via a button on the center console, which alters throttle response, gearshift speed and timing, and exhaust note to, once again, tunes the character of the car to the driver’s requirements.

A exhaust system – derived from that of the One-77hypercar, no less – is lighter, smaller and, crucially, even more sonorous than that of the V12 Vantage.

The ZF Servotronic power assisted steering has also been added to make the experience even more exciting. With a quicker 15:1 ratio, it is linked to the adaptive damping button and offers two-mode steering assistance designed to best match the ‘Sport’ or ‘Normal’ settings generated by the Adaptive Damping System.

Most noticeable, perhaps, is the car’s grille that does away with the famous aluminium vanes – replacing them with a carbon fibre arrangement that also includes sporty black carbon fibre or titanium silver mesh. Created to maximise airflow to the V12 engine, the

grille is inspired by that of the remarkable CC100 Speedster Concept, nicknamed DBR100, which debuted at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in 2013 and which signals a new era of Aston Martin design language.

Other clues that single out the car, includes the debut of lightweight forged alloy ten-spoke wheels, and a subtle yet distinctive exterior graphics pack that includes black painted roof and part-painted boot panel.

The V12 Vantage S of course retains the same compact proportions and muscular stance as its predecessor, while features such as the pronounced bonnet vents and flared wheel arches underscore its sporting abilities.

Inside, as out, the V12 Vantage S has been styled to reflect its powerful nature. Seating with Sport and carbon fibre Lightweight seat options, revised stitching and welt detailing, two leather grade options – Luxmill and semi-aniline – plus the possibility to include Alcantara, present V12 Vantage S buyers with an exciting array of trim choices.

The optional Carbon Fibre Interior Pack, which adds the material to the car’s facia and door pulls, plus the availability for the first time in a V12 Vantage S of black pedals, further enhances personalization options for those in search of a truly bespoke sports car.

Aston Martin added: “The V12 Vantage S is our most extreme Vantage to date – engineered to bring race car performance and technology to the open road. It is our most powerful engine in a beautifully tailored suit.

In 2002 Tofa and Ivan Nadelmann bought the hotel, and a total refurbishment was initiated in deep respect of the spirit of the hotel and the history of the house. Today the hotel stands as an architectural gem with its own wooden pier and close to several lovely beaches.

History Royal Copenhagen Golf Club was founded in 1898, making it the oldest golf club in Scandinavia. Initially the game was played on Lammefælleden close to Vibenshus Runddel in Copenhagen, where players dug the holes in the morning and covered them up in the evening. After a few years the golf club was able to rent an area south west of the Eremitage Castle in Dyrehaven, where a 9 hole golf course was created in 1899 opposite Klampenborg racetrack. In 1928 the current 18 hole course was inaugurated; 16 of 18 holes are still played in the same order as back then, with the latest rebuild done by Tom Mackenzie in 2009.

The golf course Today, Royal Copenhagen Golf Club’s beautiful golf course is a classic challenge for golf players of all levels. Ayala is one of the longest-established champagne Houses; it has been based in AĂż, at the heart of the great champagne vineyards, since it was founded over 150 years ago. In 2008, after working in consultancy and agricultural supplies, he joined Champagne Bollinger as Chief Administrative Officer before rapidly being given responsibility for the French market. His role is now to continue developing Champagne Ayala both in France and international markets and to give impetus to the work undertaken to renew the brand since the House was bought by the Bollinger family in 2005.

There has always been something mythical about big game hunting in Africa. Just look at all the portraits, yellow with age, of history’s great big game hunters. There are so many of them – the well-to-do, statesmen and other notables looking impressive and corpulent photographed next to the animal they have just shot. Pictures that tell the story of the brave hunter who came out on top in the battle between man and beast. Today, big game hunting is no longer the reserve of the privileged few, the portly or men only. And even though the word ‘safari’ is still shrouded in myth, for most people it has come to mean the opportunity to get back to nature and cleanse the soul.

Rasmussen “One of the first things that hits me when I arrive in Africa is its remoteness,” says Lars Bo Blarke, cofounder of the hunting shop Nancke Jagtliv in Ordrup. “You can drive for a day without coming across any sign of civilisation. When you are in the bush, it strikes you how monotonous and endless it is. This red dust and the low scrubland goes on and on forever.

You can lose yourself in a way that’s beyond the bounds of even the largest Swedish forest.

You just have to hold up your hands and admit that here is something too big to contemplate. It’s a much needed wakeup call for modern people whose need to keep up with and control their surroundings means they try to cram too much into their days.

“You need to be away for at least a week to reap all the benefits. A hunting experience of this calibre is not something you squeeze in between other items on your to-do list. Living as a hunter 24 hours a day, you can expect to experience excitement and monotony in equal measure. It gets under your skin and eclipses all else.”

Animals everywhere “The diversity of wildlife is another crucial difference between hunting in northern Europe and Africa,” says Nancke Jagtliv’s other cofounder, Jan Nancke. “In northern latitudes, you typically focus on a single type of animal on each hunt, and you can be out all day and only see a couple of animals. So you’re totally blown away when you get to the savannah and you’re surrounded by impala, antelope, kudu, gnu, oryx, springbuk and warthog on the same hunt. And it’s not just the diversity that strikes you. It also the quantity. There are just so many animals. They are behind you, in front of you, in herds, or in small groups shading from the sun under the trees. Some are shy, others are totally unconcerned by your presence.

“So, as a hunter, you are subjected to a lot of different hunting situations every day. When you shoot deer in a Danish woodland, the target distance is between 50 and 120 metres. On the savannah, the target distance is between 30 and 250 metres. That creates a whole new set of challenges when it comes to calculating the distance quickly. Technique and experience are not enough. It demands a quality rifle with sufficient precision.

“The bullets you shoot need to make an immediate impact. This is a kind of ‘agreement’ between hunter and animal. It must be done properly. Anything else shows a lack of respect,” says Jan Nancke.

Hand-built precision Precision is not a foreign word for Nancke Jagtliv. We take precision literally, and it’s a word that gets a lot of use in our partnership with Stig Anders Jensen from The Jensen Rifle Company.

Stig Anders Jensen hand builds rifles to order, and he knows something about what makes a precision rifle with unerring reliability. When you hold one of his rifles in your hands, you are left in no doubt that this is a piece of genuine craftsmanship. You can see that hours have been spent testing, adjusting and improving every tiniest detail in pursuit of perfection. And you can feel this no-compromise commitment to quality running through every detail of the final product. Hand built, each and every rifle is unique in the best meaning of the word.

So when Stig Anders Jensen first looked into starting a Danish company to produce rifles at the turn of the new millennium, it sounded like it would never get off the ground.

“I felt frustrated. It was so difficult to find a sufficiently reliable, precise rifle,” he says.

“Without any kind of specialist knowledge or craftsman’s ability, I began to go through a huge pile of literature on guns and realised that the secret was in the rifle barrel. It became clear that the typical modern barrel was simply not good enough. And to achieve sufficient precision, each rifle barrel would need to be cut as they were in the good old days.”

In 2004, the Jensen Rifle Company started up with a 100-year-old rifling machine from Otterup rifle factory. The new company’s reputation for extremely precise rifle barrels spread, and that got Stig and his team thinking.

“Once we were started, we thought that we might as well finish the job and build the rest of the rifle. For a lock, we decided to renovate the classic Mauser 98. This lock is a great example of how occasionally a design can be so spot on that it can’t be improved. Even after 118 years. Mausers are German, indestructible and able to resist a weight of 12 tonnes. They also perform well even when they are covered in the infamous red dust from the savannah.”

The stock is made of Turkish walnut. Lightweight and strong, it has a grain of incredible beauty. The Jensen Rifle Company only uses wood of this type. After talking with each customer about their preferences for grain and glow, Stig Anders Jensen finds the right piece of wood with the help of his Turkish supplier. The finished stock is not varnished. Instead, it is oiled and polished again and again until you can almost see your reflection in it.

After 160 working hours, the M98 rifle is complete, and revealed in all the glory of its classic English design. The M98 is not cheap, but neither is it out of reach. And, if you want similar precision and reliability in the same price range as other high-quality rifles, you could try the M99 instead.

Dressed for a warm climate “When you are used to hunting in thermal underwear and multiple layers of clothing to cope with the cold and the rain, it’s fantastic to experience hunting in a hot climate,” says Lars Bo Blarke. “It’s just like being on a skiing holiday or hiking in the mountains. The right clothing isn’t just a question of practicality. You just feel better when you wear clothing that’s designed for the occasion. And it lends a bit of weight to the inevitable savannah selfie.”

T H E H I S T O R Y The story of PP Møbler starts in 1953. Two brothers, Ejnar and Lars Peder Pedersen, only recently graduated as carpenters, wish to set up a workshop of their own. They buy a small plot of land in Allerød and quickly gather eight young and talented cabinet makers.

The rest is history. Today, PP Møbler is one of the few remaining cabinet making workshops in Denmark. With a production covering the Japanese and the American market with furniture from Hans J. Wegner among others, the workshop is now an internationally recognised company.

pp501/pp503 The Chair, 1949 'The Round One' as Wegner referred to it with his usual provincial modesty, is one of the most famous Danish pieces of furniture - certainly the most distinctly Danish. In its own modest and simple way it sums up the very essence of traditional Danish woodworking and design philosophy. And it is absolutely the most important work of Hans J. Wegner.

With this chair Wegner came into his own right, no longer needing the inspiration from other cultures and designers that had influenced his earlier works. This chair was created in a language of shape and construction that only Wegner spoke and it triggered the first ever, foreign report on Danish design in the American Interiors Magazine. It also became the cornerstone in a wide range of designs, which for more than a decade constituted the core business of several Danish furniture manufacturers, effectively becoming the main force in the great international breakthrough of Danish Modern.

When John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon met in the first ever, televised election debate in 1960, they sat in the Round Chair. It was chosen mainly for its comfort and genuine quality - made in Denmark and shipped to the USA to play an important role in this historic event.

Eventually the Americans came up with a new and more telling name for this chair.

They called it 'The Chair' pp250 The Valet Chair, 1953 Wegner came up with the idea for the Valet Chair in 1951, following a long talk with Professor of Architecture Steen Eiler Rasmussen and designer Kay Bojesen about the problems of folding clothes in the most practical manner when it was time for bed. But the process of completing the design was not initiated before the Danish King Frederik IX ordered one after seeing the first four-legged version.

Wegner was dissatisfied with the four-legged version and continued working on the design for two years, before the King could finally receive his chair. By then the three-legged version had been created and made for the King in pine with a teak seat. Wegner wanted to show the King what an extraordinary beautiful chair he could make in even the cheap pinewood. Teak was used for the seat to stretch the exclusivity of the design. The Danish King ended up ordering a total of ten Valet.

And yet the Papa Bear Chair remains the most exclusive piece of them all..

The newly renovated

S ® KOVSHOVED H ® ARBOUR Skovshoved Harbour has the last couple of years gone through a renovation.

New small clubhouses, renovation of excising buildings, and last but not least, an extension of the harbor so it can house 645 boats. This is going to be reality for the users of the harbor from spring 2016. Even though the harbor will have its official opening in may 2016, the process will go on and the harbor will for the next years develop outdoor fitness areas and a fish market – all initiatives that will bring more life into the harbour.

The mayor of the Muncipality of Gentofte Hans Toft says about the new Skovshoved Harbour: “Overall it will be a fantastic area, which is the result of an exciting dialogue with the port users. With the new opportunities we support everyone in Gentofte Muncipality to have an active life all year round on water and on shore”

A Harbour for everyone In the beautiful environment around Skovshoved Harbour you can enjoy an ice cream or have a meal at one of the restaurants. Kids are fishing after crabs and boat owners enjoy a glas of wine in the cocpit.

The process of renovating the harbor has given luxurious space for all the active sports clubs at the harbor. In Skovshoved Harbour you can join a diving club, row, be a scout or join one of the sailing clubs. On of the clubs on Skovshoved Harbour is the Royal Danish Yacht Club – Denmarks oldest and largest sailing club with around 2000 members.

Royal Danish Yacht Club (KDY) 150th anniversary In 2016 KDY will celebrate its 150 years anniversary being the oldest yacht club in Denmark. The vision for the anniversary is to mark sailing as a sport for life, where generations can compete on equal terms, and KDY as the nationwide yacht club with activities all over Denmark, many of these planned and executed in cooperation with local clubs or with clubs sharing the same interest.

The anniversary season will include numerous sailing activities and social events out of Skovshoved Harbour.

The major social event will be a Grand Ball in the Copenhagen Opera 13th of May with already confirmed participation from the Scandinavian Royal Families.

Daily sailing activities at the Harbour All year around there are active sailors at Skovshoved Harbor. The Royal Danish Yacht Club offers sailing for every age and level all year around. Kids and Youth will even on cold windy day head out to Oresund in order to practice. Some even as preparations for the Olympics in Rio De Janerio, Brazil in August.

Expats sailing under Royal Colors A new program aimed at giving expats in Denmark a great opportunity to learn to sail while at the same time making new friends is offered with success by The Royal Danish Yacht Club. Big Boat World Championship out of   Skovshoved Harbour 15th-23rd of July 2016 The ORC International World Championship will be co-organized by KDY (Royal Danish Yacht Club).

The venue harbor will be Skovshoved Habour. Skovshoved has just been expanded with almost 300 berths, and is a very well equipped harbour in Denmark, including a boatyard, chandlery and sailloft. KDY has one of its three clubhouses at Skovshoved.

More than 1.000 sailors are expected to participate in the Big Boat Worlds. Regattas are Easy to watch from the Harbour Sailing area for the inshore races will be Ă–resund with part of the race course right outside the harbor. Spectators will have direct view to Races and will be able to enjoy the action close by. Plenty of entertainment, Race Village to make it spectacular even when all the beautifull boats are at Sea.

Classic Yachts in the Jubilee Regatta 17th-21st of August The most beautifull Yachts afloat will be gathered in Skovshoved in August. Yachts all designed ccording to the most famous of all yacht design rules, The Metre Rule. Royal Danish Yacht Club was part of the development of this rule more than a century ago. And even today some of the most prestigious Yachts still sailing are build according to this design rule.

The jewels of the Regatta will be some 15 wooden yachts designed and build to the 12mR class rule. For more than 30 years this yachting class was used at the Americas Cup. At the harbor you will be able to enjoy the craftsmanship needed to build Yachts in wood that last for centuries, as some of the Yachts was build more than 100 years ago!!

The new owner of the Bang & Olufsen store at Strandvejen in Hellerup, Kim Eskildsen, has more than 25 years of experience in operating with Bang & Olufsen stores. Add to that the two new employees of the store, Mikael Bay and Stig Olsen, who have respectively 10 and 16 years of store experience with the Bang & Olufsen brand - sounds like the perfect foundation of a good relationship between store and customer, has been established.
