STUDIO BRIEF 01_RESEARCH

JASPER LEE

Studio Brief 01_ Research Booklet_ Hardy Amies_ The focus of my research was the tailor and couturier Hardy Amies. Most famous for his work for the Queen, Amies was a ground-breaking tailor based at No.14 Savile Row. The research was based on his life with the main areas being; the man himself, his early life, World War II, his professional life, The ABC of Men’s Fashion, No.14 Savile Row, his clients and achievements and 2001: A Space Odyssey. The Hardy Amies brand was also researched as part of my investigation.

STUDIO BRIEF 01_PUBLICATION

JASPER LEE

Studio Brief 01_ Research Booklet_ Hardy Amies. The publication design was very simple and sophisticated as a synergy between content and aesthetic was needed. The colour used throughout is the colour used by Hardy Amies Ltd. To keep a consistency throughout all images were duo-tone, again using the Hardy Amies blue. The font used was Gill Sans Semibold, the font used by the Hardy Amie Ltd. brand. The distinctive spacing out of letters and use of upper case was also used throughout the publication to show the association with the Hardy Amies brand.

STUDIO BRIEF 01_PACKAGING

JASPER LEE

Studio Brief 01_ Research Booklet_ Hardy Amies. The packaging for the publication used the remastered Hardy Amies monogram in a repeat pattern. This was cut away using a laser cutter to reveal the publication below. This was the reason for such a plain cover to the publication and why the information is positioned at the top and bottom of the page. The envelope uses a substantial white card to give it substance and protect the work as much as possible. The envelope is completely sealed and requires the opener to rip along a pre-perforated line to access the publication.
