juan crist贸bal cerrillo
for viola, snare drums and electronics PARTITURA
Preliminary notes This piece requires the construction of a mobile onto which the score is mounted. The mobile consists of three pine wood boards of the following dimensions: two boards 60 in. x 9 in. and another of 30 in. x 9 in. (all are 3/4 in. thick). Segments of the score are mounted unto both sides of the long boards and on only one side of the smaller board as shown in the following pages. Taking the long boards as boards 1 and 2, the mobile should be assembled in such a manner as to permit a continuous reading of the score from board 1 to board 2, then from the opposite side of board 2 to board 3, and from board 3 to the opposite side of board 1. The performer achieves this by circulating around the mobile during the performance. The mobile/score should be placed in the center of the performance space. This work is a collaboration with José León Cerrillo and was first performed during his residency at R. M. Schindler’s “Fitzpatrick-Leeland” House by Andrew McIntosh.
mobile specifications All measurements are taken from the mobile created for the first performance. Small adjustments should be made as necessary in order to achieve a balanced structure, while keeping with the overall structure of the design. 152.5 cm / 60 in
