DANTE MARIONI BLOWN GLASS WHOPPER VASE World-renowned Studio Glass artist, Dante Marioni, burst onto the international glass scene at the age of 19 with a signature style that has been described as the “purest of classical forms executed in glass by an American glassblower.” His amphoras, vases, and ewers are derived from Greek and Etruscan prototypes, yet they are imaginatively and sometimes whimsically reinterpreted. His impossibly elongated, sinuous shapes are made with bright and saturated contrasting colors. Marioni’s sophisticated glass objects evoke the rich tradition of classical Mediterranean pottery and bronzes and unite the artist’s training in centuries-old Venetian glassblowing techniques with some of the greatest masters in contemporary glass. The son of American studio glass pioneer Paul Marioni, Dante was raised in a family of artists which includes two well-known uncles, painter Joseph Marioni and conceptual artist Tom Marioni. Using pop art-influenced bold colors, paired with classical forms, Marioni has created several series of vessels, including the Whoppers, that look contemporary while simultaneously honoring the history of Italian glass. S O P H I E could barely muster a smile for a Mother’s Day family photo in 2017. By day’s end, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Since then, she and her family have learned how to manage her disease. Animals and human-animal hybrids are among Bothwell’s favorite forms. For Express Checkout, simply present your personal check or credit card to a Registration volunteer when you check-in for the event. 3. Using your mobile device, you can tap the right-hand corner of your device to determine what you have won at the end of Live Auction Item #12. 4. If you registered for Express Checkout, you may go directly to Item Pickup in the Aspen Room at the end of the evening. 5. Should your purchase total $10,000 or more, your items will be delivered to your home or office at your request. CERTIFICATES AND VOUCHERS 1. For non-tangible items, you will receive a checkout envelope, which will contain certificate(s) for your item(s) or a voucher providing you with directions on how to collect your certificate(s). 2. Please carefully check your envelope which will contain a voucher and certificates before leaving the Gala. Pay specific attention to all conditions, restrictions and expiration dates on items and services. 3. Unless otherwise stated, restaurant certificates exclude alcohol, tax and gratuity, and may have certain date restrictions. EXPIRATION DATES AND SCHEDULING 1. Except where otherwise noted by the donor, services, tickets and certificate items are subject to mutually agreed upon times and dates, and must be used within one year of the date of the Gala. 2. All arrangements for trips, parties, and similar events must be made at least sixty (60) days in advance, unless otherwise stated on the certificate. When using airline gift certificates, all participants and their guests must travel together. 3. Unless otherwise stated, all certificates for services expire on March 7, 2021. WINES AND SPIRITS All wines and spirits are to be sold in Washington, and title passes to the purchaser in Washington. JDRF makes no representation as the purchaser’s rights to import wine into any state. Wines and spirits may be sold and delivered only to persons who are at least 21 years old.
CHECKOUT, PAYMENT AND ITEM PICKUP–ASPEN ROOM Please make payment in full this evening. JDRF accepts cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, and American Express credit cards as payment. 1. Checkout will be open at 10pm in the Aspen Room. 2. Winning bidders may remove auction items this evening by showing paid receipts at the door at the time of departure. 3. For those items not picked up at the end of the event, items may be picked up at the Seattle Guild offices (1215 4th Avenue, Suite 1100, Seattle, WA 98161) beginning on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. TRAVEL RULES AND RESTRICTIONS 1. JDRF assumes no responsibility for travel arrangements, unless otherwise noted. No refunds will be made for cancelled tickets and accommodations. All arrangements and coordination of items (air and hotel, caterer and entertainment, etc.) must be made by the item buyer and only with the contact person designated on the donation certificate or documentation. All air transportation is subject to blackout dates. We appreciate your strict observance of these restrictions, as future donations depend upon it. 2. All hotel/resort reservations are based on availability unless the certificate states a specific date. 3. Travel awards may not be sold or transferred and are not redeemable for cash. 4. Once ticketed, route and name changes are not allowed.
Marriott BonVoy Points
When applicable, hotel accommodations provided for JDRF auction packages will be available in the form of Marriott BonVoy points as indicated on your gift certificate. The point allocation indicated for each item will be coordinated through the JDRF Seattle Guild office. Marriott BonVoy points have no expiration date and are valid at Marriott International properties around the world. Reservations are required for redemption of Marriott BonVoy points.
Delta Air Lines
Redemption Instructions 1. The JDRF office will contact the winning bidder by March 30th to discuss redemption of their live auction travel package with Delta Air Lines. 2. JDRF will work to book flights based on the winning bidder’s desired dates of travel and Delta Air Lines availability in Delta One class of service on flights to Europe. (Please note, class of service to Cabo San Lucas is Delta Air Lines First Class) 3. Please select dates for travel within 60 days of the JDRF gala (May 7, 2020) and share these dates with JDRF. 4. Please work with JDRF to ensure travel is booked within 90 days of trip dates. 5. For those tickets where travel certificates are offered, certificates must be redeemed within one year of certificate issuance and travel is to be completed within one year of the ticket issue date. Restrictions and blackout periods may apply. Certificates may be redeemed only by the person whose name has been entered and cannot be reissued. Any transportation that is unclaimed, is not awarded or is otherwise not used by the travel completion date specified will be forfeited. The ARV of travel may vary based on airfare fluctuations and distance between departure and destination. Winner will not receive difference between actual and ARV. No substitution or transfer of prizes or cash redemptions
permitted, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute, for any reason whatsoever, any Prize (or any portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value at its sole discretion. The Winner is responsible for reporting and payment of all taxes (if any) associated with acceptance and use of the Prize. 6. Certificates do not include the September 11th Security Fee of at least $5.60 one way, which will be imposed on each flight segment in the passenger’s ticketed itinerary and international taxes and fees of up to $349 for an economy ticket. A flight segment is defined as a takeoff and a landing. Baggage fees of up to $25 for first checked bag and $100 for second checked bag, depending on itinerary. Taxes and fees are subject to change. Fees, taxes, and other charges will be determined at the time of ticketing. Any taxes, fees, or charges paid at the time of ticket issuance will be refunded if ticket is not used. However, once redeemed, Certificates are void and will have no further value. Certificate travel will not qualify for SkyMiles mileage. Stopovers/Upgrades/Waitlisting/Open Returns are not permitted for tickets booked with Certificates. Lost, stolen or otherwise destroyed Certificates will not be replaced. Schedules are subject to change without notice. Additional restrictions may apply. It is the responsibility of the passenger to be in possession of all necessary documentation (e.g., valid passport, visa where applicable) at the time and place of departure. Delta reserves the right to deny boarding to any passengers without proper documentation. Latta Wines
Andrew Latta founded Latta Wines with the 2011 vintage to pursue excellence in uncommon varietals from outstanding sites. Previously as a winemaker for a larger Washington winery, he was able to scour thousands of acres of vineyard land to find perfect matches of soil and grapes for his own project. In his winemaking career, Andrew has received more than 350 scores of 90 points or higher with 75 of those being 95 or higher. Andrew’s uncompromising hands-on winemaking is marked by low intervention and traditional techniques pursuing texture, balance and intensity. WINERIES Lawrelin Wine Cellars
Lawrelin wines are made by Winemaker Kendall Mix, who has been making wine in Washington State for more than 25 years. Lawrelin produces hand crafted, artisan wines that source their fruit from a few key vineyards around the Columbia Valley with emphasis on Red Mountain, Wahluke Slope, and Royal Slope AVAs. Lawrelin focuses on achieving optimally ripe fruit and capturing the essence of that fruit in their beautifully elegant wines, then laying the wines down for extended bottle aging prior to release. Long Shadows Vintners
Long Shadows Vintners is a partnership that brings seven of the world’s most celebrated winemakers to Washington State’s Columbia Valley. Each partner crafts a single, stand-alone wine using grape varietals for which he is best known. Long Shadows founder and Washington Wine Trailblazer Allen Shoup facilitates the collaboration with Gilles Nicault as Director of Winemaking and Viticulture. Matteo Wines
This is a first release from winemaker Matt Loso’s Napa Valley vineyard, sourced in the Spring Mountain. District is fashioned after the great St. Emilion wines in Bordeaux, France. This wine is balanced and approachable, but built to age for more than 10 years. Matt shares this single barrel with gala guests this evening to give them a one of a kind gem to hold in their cellar for enjoyment at the finest occasions. Only 75 bottles were produced then carefully sand carved and hand painted to preserve the beauty of this work of art. www.matteowines.com

Established in 1982, Montinore Estate is one of the country’s largest producers of certified estate wines made from Biodynamic grapes. Chris Nishiwaki
Chris Nishiwaki is a Mercer Island-based wine, food, restaurant, travel and hospitality writer. He is the Director of Marketing and Communications at Food Lifeline, which serves 134,000 meals daily throughout the Puget Sound. Tonight he will pour wine from Quilceda Creek, a winery dedicated to world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. Quilceda Creek was named 2017’s Best Washington Winery by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. Chris has apprenticed in winemaking since the 2013 vintage under Josh Lawrence and Aryn Morell of Walla Walla’s M&L Production, crafting wines for Matthew’s Winery, Tenor, Alleromb, Mullan Road, Gard Vintners, Royal Bull, Morell-Peña, and Ardor Cellars. Chris has written for a variety of publications, including The Seattle Times, Seattle Magazine and Seattle Metropolitan Magazine. He has contributed to Andrew Zimmerman’s “Bizarre Foods,” Marcus Samuelsson’s “No Passport Required” and Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservations,” among others.
