01_life and emotion
each window is accompanied by an explanatory text based on original sources that illuminates the story of each victim. with repetitive structure that represent the continuos life flow. the cocoon contains a narrow corridor, 5 feet wide and 328 feet long, whose interior is painted in black and pierced by 91 small windows, illuminated by a light bulb hanging from the ceiling, each commemorating a victim of the trial.

“project 1 task 1 summary”
to put in perspective, the project one is to find out the best possible way in dealing with urban and building intervention themes. using an abstract direction, the site is a cemetery that people visit in order to evoke a sense of memory of the deceased ones. by understanding these elements, it creates a strong sense of drawing the contrast of living and dead. the living interacts with the dead to find their roots and perhaps peace. without the dead, the origin, the past is lost forever. therefore, the contrasting element of these entities coexist to bring life in a continuous flow with deeper emotional feeling. to simplified the intentions of the theme, first contrast meaning the living and the dead in between is the doorway that lead beyond our understanding of life. second, the flow of life represents our life in singularity, ups and downs are norm with the ups are the happiest in achieving and the downs sadness of losing. in this sense, we know that life is linear with one path that one choose to walk, many pit stops along the journey, many hardships, memories, happy, sad. that is the way of life. finally, aligning all these elements into tangible items, the memories represent beacon to draw attention of shiny above life of the deceased and the shadow represent a contrast reflection between living : tangible and dead : intangible. perhaps all these creates a journey of life, a program to evoke the sense of the past and present that

“project 2 task 3 case study summary”
the two case study is in align with project one, one is about the contrast between the line and dot. the line represent life and emotion, where life is a linear path and the dot represent aggression, sadness and pit-stop two different world that co-exists at the same time. taking this inspiration, it has similarities of project one that talks about linear path of life and the flow of ups and downs. the other talks about the cemetery with the help of cherry trees that brings life and light into the place. why sakura trees ? as the saying goes, the sakura are a harbinger of winter’s end and a return of life, and their blossoming above the tombstones lends their celebrated beauty a certain symbolic weight. therefore, flower dies just like a loss of love ones, but it returns to life again repeating by blossoming flower that compliments the dull tombstones make them into colourful life again. which these also in lines of project one that tree may act as beacons to evoke attract user to the dull and dark cemetery giving a positive image. moreover, the activities generated at the cemetery is intriguing, users mingle with the dead together to have a picnic. which accidentally romantic between living, dead and trees.

living and dead ; is the core intention
urban strategies intention
‘harmony’ between the dead and the living as suppose to isolation that is the true objective of this proposal. as the saying goes ‘from the cradle to the grave’ meaning life is just a journey everyone will eventually suffice to another being, taking this the connection between the surrounding communities and the cemetery is crucial to from a intimate relationship to let them know the spine of kuala lumpur and the people that build it, which is the main aim.
urban strategies brief
school students the close proximity of the schools making perfect spot for education usage, as they learn about the history, culture and nature. to align with their current school programs
cemetery griever main users of the site, as they pay remembrance to their loved ones. mourning them, giving them hope that thier loved ones is in a better place. in this sense, it is a perfect user to heal thier loss with intervention that may evoke thier senses
local community one of the challenging part, as community may not be interested in spiritual, but just maybe they can mingle with cemetery by creating a contemporary part that attarcts with the use of series of intervention. as this reconnects the residential area to bring more usage and activities to the site
