Editor...
Spring has sprung! This time of year always means that we get to celebrate another year in business. This April marks our 13th year! It has been such a pleasure and honor serving our community and you our valued customers for so many years. I truly hope you have enjoyed Quiltique just as much as we have enjoyed you. Please always feel free to share with us any ideas or thoughts you may have for us in the future. We want to know what you are looking for, hoping for, or even challenged by. It all helps us continue to bring you the very best we have to offer and helps to ensure those things are what you want from us. There are so many fun things happening in this 28th edition of The Stash (because it’s my lucky number)! We of course, have our Birthday Celebration in April, then a very special guest in May; Kathy Doughty from Material Obsession all the way from Australia. She comes highly recommended by Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably! Be sure to catch her unique and creative quilting classes right here in our classroom! Come June we have two stellar returning events…Cindy Lohbeck from Hands on Hand-Dyes and The Row by Row Experience is back for the summer. Another new event coming in July is our Accuquilt Signature Event. If you have been thinking at all about getting a GO! or even if you already own one, don’t miss a chance to be inspired by all the amazing things the GO! products can do for you. Camp Sew What also returns in July so be sure to clear your kid's calendar for that week. The Scrap Happy Purse is our newest Sew Scrappy Social project. What a great way to use up scraps that keep accumulating in your sewing space without committing to a larger quilt. QUILT CONTEST
Grand Prize: $250 Quiltique Shopping Spree! Have you been sewing along with The Splendid Sampler Quilt Along? If not, you are missing out on the quilt block fun!! Since February 14th, there have been two designer blocks released each week and will continue through 100 blocks in total. Quiltique was honored with an invitation to participate with our block coming in October. We are among the ranks of names like Pat Sloan, Quilt Jane, V and Co., Kimberbell, Figtree and Jen Kingwell just to name a few. All the patterns are free to you and there is tons of inspiration and even bonus projects for you over at thesplendidsampler.com. We are kicking up the fun factor with a Splendid Sampler summer contest for you. The rules are simple and the possibilities are endless. • Project must be a quilt • Quilt must have at least 30 Splendid Sampler quilt blocks in the quilt • 3 yards or 12 fat quarter “buy in” to enter the contest • Must use the fabric you purchased in the quilt • Quilt can be any size up to 60” x 72” • Quilt must be finished, quilted and bound Contest enrollment begins now with all quilts being due to Quiltique on August 15th, 2016. Our popular summer camp for young sewists is back and all new for 2016! Camp Sew What is a creative opportunity for your kids aged 10-16 to learn sewing and quilting on their very own sewing machine! They will learn their way around a sewing machine, learn and practice basic techniques, and make several finished projects including their first quilt.
Our kid-friendly staff will lead students through a series of projects from the book “A Kids Guide to Sewing”, giving them an opportunity to learn basic sewing skills and practice what they’ve learned. In addition to skillbuilding projects, students will make a pillowcase with hand embroidery, a sleepover drawstring bag, a zipper pouch and finish their week by piecing a simple strip quilt and tying the top.
The $369 cost includes: • Their very own EverSewn Sparrow15 sewing machine! • Professional instruction • The class book • All the fabrics students will need…their choice! • Sewing & project supplies including a sewing kit and thread colors • Healthy snacks each day and a pizza party on the last day!
