Where is your favorite LQS? Whether it is Quiltique or some other special shop across the country, we hope you will visit on Saturday, January 27th to show your favorite shop some LOVE! In exchange for you visiting us (and we really hope it’s because we are your favorite), we have some awesome festivities in store including a FREE lecture with Lisa Calle and plenty of other worthwhile happenings. See page 2 for more info!

It is “CRYSTAL” clear that we are here to stay. Quiltique celebrates our crystal anniversary of 15 awesome years this April! Save the date for April 20th and 21st for a sparkling celebration.

Letter from the Editor Welcome 2018! I sure am ready for a fresh start. How about you? New beginnings, new ideas, new projects…new, new, NEW! (Can you tell that I love that word?) So let’s talk NEW resolutions. I know, it is a bit of pressure and somewhat cliché to have a New Year’s Resolution but I am not talking about diets here…I am talking about sewing resolutions. The fun kind of resolutions!

Let’s start with learning something NEW. Have you tried garments yet? Fashion sewing is fun and a nice break from piecing. Be sure to check out our new “Hot off the Press” page that is all about what is new in garment sewing, sprinkled with a few sewing tips. What about learning a NEW handwork skill? Maybe you will enjoy the needle in your hand instead of your machine? We have a NEW beginner Hand Embroidery class to get you started with the basics of hand stitching as well as several hand work project classes for you.

Another NEW beginning is our 2018 Breakfast Club featuring Jen Kingwell’s Long Time Gone quilt full of different blocks and techniques. We have a very special guest to kick off our NEW club, the one and only Marti Michell! Definitely NOT NEW to quilting, Marti will share with us insights to this fabulous quilt project. She will also be here to teach us something NEW with a Kaleidoscope class and a Quilt-As-You-Go class. Not to be missed! And to keep with this theme, we have a brand NEW “Club GO!” for those of you who have purchased an Accuquilt GO! cutter and want to really dig into all the awesome things you can and should be doing with your cutter. It will also be great for those who have been thinking about adding this invaluable tool to your arsenal.

So forget the scale and throw that out! No one ever keeps to those kinds of resolutions…but NEW sewing adventures you can do. We will be here to help. Happy New Year! – Jennifer Albaugh and the entire Quiltique Family

Today is the day to show your favorite Quilt Shop some LOVE! Local Quilt Shop Day is a national event to celebrate why you love your LQS. The festivities of the day will include:

• FREE Lecture with the talented Lisa Calle! Join us for “Lisa’s Trunk…Filled with Anything But Junk”. Lisa is a national “Best in Show” quilter and BERNINA Brand Ambassador. See page 3 for details. • Use your 40% off coupon for any one item here instead of at the big box store (some restrictions apply).

• Earn Quiltique Bonus Bucks for every $10 you spend to redeem in February.

• Win 25% off your fabric purchases at Quiltique for an entire year with your free entry! • Visit quiltshopday.com and watch your email for further details.

*Please pay $10 at sign up which you will receive back in store credit when you attend that day.

DIVIDE AND DESIGN, GET IT DONE 1-Day Hands-On Workshop Skill Level: Intermediate Friday, January 26 10:00am – 4:30pm Class Fee: $90* Do you feel overwhelmed when gazing upon a quilt feeling anxious that something creative and beautiful is beyond your scope, or wondered where great quilters come up with such original designs? With Lisa’s 3 step process you will approach the idea of quilting in a completely new way. Over the course of this class you will divide large areas of your quilt into manageable small spaces, gaining the confidence and skill needed to produce a design that will make your quilt top sing and have you smiling with pride! You will soon discover that anyone can transform the everyday quilt into a masterpiece or a treasured heirloom. Box lunch is available for $13.

So you’re not ready for the Major Leagues when it comes to working with rulers, no worries. Join Lisa in “Rulers for Rookies” and be ready for three full hours of ruler action. This class is a comprehensive hands on class incorporating not only straight edges and circles, but some of Lisa’s other Quilter’s Groove Rulers as well. Regardless of whether you’ve never touched a ruler, or feel that your skills could use a little coaching, this class is for you! Kit Fee: $25 (Includes handouts, panel, batting and backing.)

FLOWER POWER ½ -Day Hands-On Workshop Skill Level: Beginner Saturday, January 27 1:00pm – 4:00pm Class Fee: $50* Feel empowered to quilt by attending Lisa’s newest class, “Flower Power”. Lisa will encourage attendees to execute feather work as well, but because all quilters are unique you may choose additional ruler work or a design you feel comfortable with. As a final phase of this project, you will tackle “sand stipple” fill work, which has proven to be the most asked about type of fill. Don’t remain powerless to the idea of quilting! Lisa will plant seeds of confidence during this fun and engaging class. Kit Fee: $25 (Includes handouts, panel, batting and backing.)

Here at Quiltique, not only do we pride ourselves on how we serve you but also on the quilts and samples we hang to inspire you and the education we provide in our classroom through fun and informative classes.

We are currently looking for new Sample Makers and Teachers. We need those of you who love to sew and quilt to consider helping not only Quiltique but your community by sharing your passion for sewing and quilting. It takes an army to bring you the best our industry has to offer – so WE NEED YOU!

As a teacher here, you would automatically be a sample maker too, making the projects for your classes. But if you don’t think teaching is for you, we also need people to just sew for display samples in the shop. New teachers would not need to start teaching until May and we can use sample makers right away. All teachers and sample makers are independent contractors and are not employees of Quiltique.

If you would like to know more, please contact Stori at stori@quiltique.com or Jennifer at Jennifer@quiltique.com. We would love to speak to you more about joining the Quiltique team!
