Letter from the Editor
Well there are not many words to explain what we have all been through so far in 2020. Actually there are many words, I suppose, but not enough room to list them all here. We are all still struggling in many ways as we head into the fall. Back to school has been turned on its head, businesses are closing all around us and so many people are still not back to work. Physically, financially, emotionally, ethically, we are all truly trying to find light at the end of the tunnel. I hope in many ways, sewing has brought you a bit of peace and normalcy. I know that sewing has brought many of you the ability to give back to humanity through your sewing machine. Even if it was just a few masks for friends, neighbors, the clerk at the grocery store, I assure you, it was greatly appreciated. Here at Quiltique, we have had our ups and downs but we are so very thankful for all the support that has come from all of you. We are weathering the storm and will continue to be here for you as you have been for us. Whether you have come in, shopped online or just sent a nice note, THANK YOU. We appreciate you! I want to quickly break down some of the changes that we have planned to keep you all safe and sewing during this difficult time. We have safety measures in place to get you back in the classroom to continue learning, laughing and of course stitching. And while some of our usual large events will have to be put on hold for now, that is okay. It will just be that much more fun when we can get together again. Here is what you can expect for the next 4 months: • Limit of 11 students (one per table) in the classroom for all classes/events • Masks must be worn at all times while in the shop and in class • Hand sanitizer and a hand washing sink is available to you during class time • Larger events will be done virtually • Tables, chairs, rental machines, and irons will be sanitized before each class • Contactless payments are available and cash is temporarily not accepted • Restrooms will re-open and will be cleaned and sanitized daily per our regular high standards of cleanliness The only thing we expect from you is a bit of patience, kindness, understanding, and mindfulness of others. Star Club 2021 Can you believe that our first year of Star Club was back in 2010! While we love to celebrate all our great customers, we are often reminded that our new customers may not be familiar with requirements to enter our Star Club and how they gain access to its awesome benefits. As a special thank you to customers who spend a majority of their fabric shopping dollars here at Quiltique; Star Club members receive an exclusive Star Club member party, early access to class enrollments and sales, bonus reward dollar earnings, and everyday savings in store. Simple Sewing Series All new with Debi Clemmons
Like it or not, the recent quarantine has brought us many new experiences. One very positive thing is that some of you, many of you, either started sewing for the first time or dusted off a machine that was in the back of the closet. It has been awesome to hear and see. Our all new Simple Sewing Series has been developed to bring you projects that are easy, fun, useful and simple. These classes and projects are to help you learn and grow as a sewist, developing skills and techniques. Whether you want to learn to make garments, quilts, housewares, costumes, masks, or more, we want to help you every step of the way. Simple class projects include a mesh tote, zippered pouch, stripped pillow, tea towel apron and a face mask. CLUB GO!
Yes! It’s back! Many of you have been waiting patiently for this great club to return to Quiltique. Well, it is back and better than ever. We will still feature new dies and projects, tips for getting the most out of your GO! Fabric cutter, share GO! Projects with each other and learn fun new blocks from the Qubes. One small change is that Club GO! will have a $10 fee per class BUT…you will get a “reward” type punch card for the club. Each month you attend club meeting, you will be given a punch worth $5. Save up your rewards toward dies or whatever you choose. Here is what you can look forward to in this two-hour lecture/demo style class: • New Featured project each month with free pattern • New Block from the GO! Tis’ the season for giving…Kimberbears! When words are not enough this adorable bear can provide comfort for a little one in need. Designed for charitable giving, the Kimberbear is sweetly sized for tiny hands and can be packed in comfort kits prepared for children in foster care, entering emergency shelters, or receiving treatment at children’s hospitals. Stitched in soft Cuddle® from Shannon Fabrics, an embroidered heart on the chest shows the Kimberbear only has love to give. Join us in the classroom or from home virtually on December 5th, to make these adorable bears for some children in need. Quiltique will supply the bear kits with Shannon Cuddle fabric and Poly-fil to those who sign up for the event. You will supply the other supplies like thread, stabilizer, and LOVE. And since it is holiday time, our classroom would not be complete without everyone’s wonderful cookies. Please bring your favorite holiday cookies to share with the group. Kimberbears will be donated to the local firehouses in our community for children in crisis. If you can’t join us, please feel free to stich and give these bears as you can. National Sew A Jelly Roll Day is September 19th
Star Club 2020 members early sign up is Thursday, August 27th from 10am – 6pm and Friday, August 28th from 10am to 2pm.
National Sew A Jelly Roll day was started a few years back to encourage “collectors” to break open a Moda Jelly Roll and make something for themselves, as a gift or for charity! It can be a quilt or a tote bag, a rug, it doesn’t matter so long as we seize the day and celebrate the joy of being a maker.
Class projects will be on display and the team and teachers will be on hand to answer your burning questions. Please understand that we are practicing safe social distancing and requiring protective face coverings during this event. (Please read the Letter from the Editor on how we are practicing safety during this time.) We ask that you be patient and kind and we look forward to getting “back to school” with all of you!
During this all day sew in our classroom, we will make all things strippy. An unfinished strip project, a new quilt you have been meaning to sew up, or maybe you have a pretty roll that you just can’t seem to create with? This day is for you! We will have plenty of free quilt patterns on hand for you to choose from or bring your own. And, if you just don’t have enough…we have plenty of Jelly Rolls too!

Lunch will be served along with fun games and discounts on all things round. We will have lots of backgrounds to compliment most any strip set you can bring so not to worry that you won’t be prepared for any pattern. Admission only $15!
All New BOMs Bonnie and Camille present one of their newest quilts, The Shine On Sampler. This mother and daughter design duo share a love for sampler quilts and this quilt was the first quilt they designed from their new book The Bonnie & Camille Quilt Bee. The Shine On sampler uses many of Bonnie and Camille’s very favorite quilt blocks, and all the quilts in this book (9 other quilts) were inspired by the blocks used in this sampler. This quilt is made from the Shine On collection for Moda and features different blocks in different sizes (from 6” to 16”) keeping this project playful, fun and interesting. This 12-month Block of the Month will begin November 15th. The cost for each month is $20, which includes all the fabric, binding and the Quilt Bee book (backing not included). There is a $20 non-refundable registration fee, which is waived for sign ups prior to October 15th. The quilt measures 68 ½” x 80”. Shipping is available for $8 per month within the USA.

GREEN TEA & SWEET BEANS All New BOM!
The quilt that started it all. Green Tea and Sweet Beans was Jen Kingwell’s first block of the month program and inspired her to chase her dreams as a quilt designer. And now look at all her success! A puzzle of beautiful blocks – a signature style of Jen’s! This gorgeous design from Jen Kingwell was inspired by one of her many trips to Japan. From the busy streets of Tokyo to the tranquil cherry blossoms and traditional houses of Kyoto, these eclectic blocks are inspired by the colors and textures of these fond memories. The vintage feel and the contrast in each of these blocks are brought to life with traditional piecing, applique, and a little bit of English paper piecing. You’ll love the journey. This quilt has been a true “bucket list” quilt for our shop and we are so excited to bring it to you. There are so many different blocks and designs here, keeping you eager and ready for the next one. During this 10-month block of the month program, you will receive the booklet and fabrics needed to complete the quilt top including borders and binding. There is a $25 nonrefundable registration fee, then just $24.99 per month. The finished quilt measures 71” x 75”. Journey begins October 10th.

Another round of Kimberbell Klub is upon us, and the projects keep getting better. Volume 4 will bring you all new exclusive projects, designs and friends! New to Kimberbell Klub? Each month will feature a new small machine embroidery project with fun techniques to learn. These designs are for all makes and models of machine so everyone who loves machine embroidery is welcome! Just show up with your machine and get ready for some stitching fun. Yearly price of $275 includes 13 months of class time with Lynne, project instructions, embroidery design files and fabrics to complete all of the monthly projects. There is also a BONUS thirteenth project that incorporates machine embroidery and sewing techniques. We will also include a FREE Kimberbell Klub binder to keep your projects organized. Classes will usually be held on the last Friday of each month with some exceptions. If you cannot make it to class for some reason, we will still have your project kit and design files waiting for just a $5 missed class fee. Spot On Dots allow you to see exactly where you’ve lined up your fabric on your ruler by giving you magnified visibility at the point that matters most. For precision-perfect accuracy, Spot On Dots are the perfect tool for you! The small dot is 1 inch in diameter. The large dot is 2 inches in diameter. At the center, magnification is 3x. Moda has designed a Sampler Quilt to be shared as a daily free pattern to all of you. Beginning on Thursday, October 1, one block each day will be shared on Moda’s The Cutting Table blog.
