Welcome back Spring! Welcome back flowers! Welcome back new beginnings! Welcome back hope! Welcome back travelers! Welcome back hugs! Welcome back “normal”! WELCOME – WELCOME – WELCOME. This year got off to a bit of a rough start in different ways but let me say the light is shining at the end of the tunnel. By now one in four of you have had your vaccine and feeling confident to hug your family and friends again, eat out at a favorite restaurant again, shop for pleasure again, travel again and more! As we move toward summer, our lives as we once knew them are starting to return. I want to welcome those of you whom we have not seen in over a year to come visit again. We miss you!

This city misses you. Come shop with us, sew with us, learn with us and create with us.

We have so many fun things planned for you this summer. The kids can join us for sewing camp, you can learn to paint a barn quilt, you can come sew your cares away for a few days in our classroom or you can accept our challenge and create your own Diabolical Jane Quilt for our summer quilt contest.

While we are not 100% up to speed in all aspects of our old “normal” routines, let’s keep working and keep moving in a positive direction toward our new “normal” keeping our eye on that light at the end of the tunnel.

SUMMER SEW-CATION July 16th & 17th

Two relaxing days of no cares in the world, except your seam allowance. Friday the 16th, sew and quilt from 2pm until the stars come out at 8pm. Then return on Saturday at 9am and sew until 4pm! Quiltique will supply dinner on Friday, coffee and bagels Saturday morning plus lunch in the afternoon! Spots are sure to go fast for this special sew-in event. We give you permission to take a little extra “me” time to enjoy some stitching, shopping and camaraderie with stitchy friends. Fee is $40 for both days. Come take a summer sewing break with us and bring your friends…you deserve it!

Returns in August!

Back by popular demand! We now have more kits and are ready for those of you who could not join us last year. This gorgeous design from Jen Kingwell was inspired by one of her many trips to Japan. From the busy streets of Tokyo to the tranquil cherry blossoms and traditional houses of Kyoto, these eclectic blocks are inspired by the colors and textures of these fond memories. The vintage feel and the contrast in each of these blocks are brought to life with traditional piecing, applique, and a little bit of English paper piecing. You'll love the journey!

There are so many different blocks and designs here, keeping you eager and ready for the next one. During this 10-month block of the month program, you will receive the booklet and fabrics needed to complete the quilt top including borders and binding. There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee which is waived for those signing up prior to July 1st, then just $25 per month starting August 10th. You can also choose to pay in full and receive a discount. Pay just $199 if you pay at time of sign up (you will still receive your blocks monthly). The finished quilt measures 71" x 75". DIABOLICAL JANE QUILT CHALLENGE Win a $250 Quiltique Gift Card Begins May 1st!

Quiltique will be hosting a little friendly competition to keep you busy quilting this summer. Starting May 1st, we invite you to participate in a creative competition that will challenge you to work outside of your comfort zone. The competition is called the Diabolical Jane Quilt Challenge. This seemingly modern quilt design was inspired from an antique quilt from the 1800s. Jessie Aller (visit her at jessiealler.com) recreated the pattern design in bold and modern fabrics with a beautiful result. She then shared this quilt on Instagram and posted her tutorial so her followers could do the same. There have been some really great quilts posted and we thought it would be fun to challenge you to create your very own Diabolical Jane Quilt. The heart and soul of this quilt lies in the fabric selections. The pieces are large and the sewing is easy, so take your time and enjoy playing with the placement of your fabrics. The max quilt size allowed is 75” square. Here are the basics of how it will work: • Stop in anytime after May 1st to sign up • You may use any fabric you choose.

Week-long Sew Camp for Kids

Our popular summer camp for young sewists is back this July! Camp Sew What is a creative opportunity for kids aged 9-15 to get experience behind a sewing machine…of their very own! They will learn their way around the machine, learn and practice basic machine techniques, and make several finished projects including their first simple quilt.

The $395 cost includes: • Their very own Baby Lock JOY sewing machine! (MSRP is $399!)

• Professional guided instruction

Due to social distancing protocols currently still in place, we have a limited student capacity this year. Therefore we are not accepting students that have attended Camp Sew What in the past years and apologize in advance for this change.

• Deluxe Beginning Sewing Kit (valued at $99)

This is a great opportunity for your kids to be creative, learn a valuable and lifelong skill, increase their confidence and have a unique experience during their summer break.

• All the fabrics and supplies students will need…their choice

Our kid-friendly staff will lead students through a series of various projects giving them an opportunity to learn different sewing skills and practice what they’ve learned.

In addition to small skill-building projects, students will make a reading pillow, a rolled pencil pouch, a zipper pouch, a boxy tote and finish their week by making a strip quilt.

PLEASE NOTE: This weeklong class is for children 9 and over who want to learn how to sew. We will not be using rotary cutters, but we will be using pins, needles, scissors, hot irons, and sewing machines. You know your child best. We ask that students have the maturity to follow instructions and be careful in a potentially dangerous environment. A waiver of liability must be signed by the parent/guardian of the student.

Building beautiful blocks, One Barn Board at a Time…Abby Hicks of Tweetle Dee Designs returns to Quiltique!

We had so much fun the 1st time around, so we invited her back! Paint your own original barn quilt with designer, author, and teacher, Abby Hicks. Each class participant will leave with a completed barn quilt and the know-how and inspiration to paint many more. Class fee includes the framed 22" quilt board, sanded and painted with a base coat, a pattern, brushes, paint, marking tool and anything else needed to complete the project. You just show up!

“A barn quilt is basically a large piece of wood that is painted to look like a large quilt block. We have a long history in our country of hanging barn quilts outside our homes and barns. They were thought to bring good luck and prosperity.

Some 200 years ago when there wasn't enough paint to paint an entire barn women would take a pattern of a quilt block that grandma had made and would paint a barn quilt to hang on their barns. This beginning quilting program is designed to take you from your first cut to your last stitch and enjoy the process each step of the way. Vol. 2 - Simply Scanning

Learn more about the powerful software already in your Baby Lock Embroidery Machine, IQ Designer (certain models only). Your class will contain an IQ designer video lesson, six PDF projects and embroidery files all on a USB. Learn how to combine editing and create new objects using built-in IQ designer shapes. Michelle will also teach you more about stitch types and fills and combining those fancy fills with weave patterns. You will be able to scan fabrics and artwork and turn it into designs and appliques using the continuous border function. The included projects are spools of thread, creating your own rose, in-the-hoop zipper bag, sewing machine artwork, scanning fabric into applique and continuous stippling.

Sewing means community here at Quiltique and Bernina machine owners are part of a special BERNINA community.

For 2021, we are bringing you the BERNINA Community Studio; educational lessons that showcase the best of BERNINA products, features, and benefits through fun and inspiring projects. These classes include topics in machine embroidery, sewing, quilting and software categories. All classes are in a lecture/ demo format. We will first watch a video from a BERNINA educator on the topic and then we will show you an in-person demo where you can see all the features live. You will be given files for class handouts, project instructions and any designs if applicable on a USB stick that you bring to class and then have fun stitching at home. Classes will mostly be held on the first Fridays of the month. Each class is $15 and you will just enroll in the classes that interest you.

EMBROIDERY Lesson #2: Put a Pocket on It! with Judy Hahner Transform a plain T-shirt into a “one-of-a-kind” T-shirt with an in-the-hoop Pocket Peeker.

Controlling knit fabrics in the embroidery hoop can be challenging if not stabilized correctly. With a few tips on stabilizer, needles, and design placement, you’ll be successful at taming stretchy knits and embroidering those one-of-a-kind projects.

Class Discount Day is a special day at Quiltique! Full of inspiration and fun, this day gives you the first glimpse at our new class projects and events for the next four months. Summer classes can be unpredictable so be sure to mark your calendars and join us to preview all our fresh offerings before they sell out.
