A MESSAGE From the Headmaster Dear Friend, Austin Prep has been on a Journey for nearly 60 years, inspiring a passion for life and learning in our students. We are a community that models academic excellence and servant-leadership. Austin Prep celebrated its first graduated class in 1966. While I’m proud of all Austin Prep has accomplished since that time, at our core we remain a school committed to exemplary teaching and learning. Today, we are at full enrollment, including students from over fifty Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire communities and abroad. The future of Austin Prep is bright, thanks in large part to the generosity and leadership of our parents, grandparents, alumni, and students. Over the past 20 years, Austin Prep’s development activity has matured, with each of three previous campaigns building on the success of its predecessors. Those efforts helped produce Meelia Hall and the David E. Nelson ‘81 Fitness Center, modernized the monastery for the arts and technology programs, created a stadium aligned with Austin Prep’s athletic talent, and constructed a dining facility that would make St. Augustine proud. While our achievements are significant, our work is not done. These recent upgrades set a strong precedent for future growth. With your help, we can take a more decisive step toward achieving our goals. We are honored you are taking the time to consider your role in the next phase of development for Austin Prep. Together, we can better meet our mission by ensuring academic excellence, affordability, and sustainability for many future generations. Join us.

Sincerely,

James Hickey, PhD Headmaster

THE BEST OF AUSTIN PREP Pursuing Academic Excellence Since 1961 Middle and high school is a pivotal period, which can determine a young person’s academic, professional and personal trajectory. It is a time when students are preparing for college, establishing life-long relationships, and growing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It is the formative period of life. Austin Prep aims to nurture students during this crucial time. We have been fortunate to see so many young people benefit from the education students receive in the Augustinian tradition at Austin Prep. From academics to arts to athletics, we are proud of how far we’ve come since our start in 1961.

SUSTAINING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE The Next 50 Years Our Igniting Hearts, Transforming Lives campaign will make an unprecedented investment in our students and campus facilities, ensuring that Austin Prep produces graduates who embrace our Augustinian tradition of character while setting the standard for academic excellence in the 21st century. Together we can reach a common goal.

CAMPAIGN GOALS: BUILDING RENOVATIONS to build on the successful completion of a new dining facility and kitchen, we will implement green initiatives to advance sustainability and renovate the Chapel of St. Augustine to better serve our community’s spiritual life. CAMPUS ENHANCEMENTS will include upgraded athletic fields and tennis courts, more parking capacity, and a beautified campus entrance, in addition to the completed fitness facility. These enhancements will allow the school and local community to play, compete, and connect on campus. FINANCIAL AID & ENDOWMENT will provide support to promising students who deserve equal access to top-flight academics, programs, faculty, and athletic teams. Providing support to our endowment will ensure that these

opportunities are both sustainable and lasting for years to come.

In honor of Austin Prep’s history, and with sights set on the next 50 years, we are seeking philanthropic investments from alumni, parents, and friends. Our initial working goal for this support totals $3 million.

GOAL ONE

$2 MILLION to SUPPORT CAMPUS ENHANCEMENTS AN ATHLETIC LEGACY | Austin Prep has earned a strong reputation for exceptional athletics. Competing in the Catholic Central League, the Austin Prep athletic program offers 18 interscholastic sports across 50 teams. The majority of students—75 percent—play a sport at some point during their tenure at Austin Prep. To meet the growing demand for

space, upgraded athletic facilities are needed, including new baseball, soccer, tennis, and softball fields. Superior fields and turf will optimize team sports, extend seasons, and permit summer programs that will support the local community and generate income for Austin Prep’s bottom line.

A WARM WELCOME | Increased parking capacity for our students and visitors will ensure that the school and the community can easily gather at Austin Prep to come to school, watch a game, or participate in a school event. A beautified campus entrance will ensure that we are putting our best foot forward in welcoming students, parents, and alumni back to Austin Prep for a visit.

THE IMPACT | We hope to raise $2 million in philanthropic funding to support the cost of these campus enhancements. A gift in support of these enhancements would not only transform the manner in which student athletics can practice and compete on campus, but it would increase the ability for our community to join us on campus during the offseason and summer months. Specific improvements to the grounds include: 

Tennis Court Relocation and Expansion

Lower Athletic Field (Soccer, Baseball) Upgrade

Softball Field Relocation and Turf Upgrade

Parking Lot Construction and Expansion

Campus Entrance Enhancements

Lighted Fields for Extended Summer and Evening Use 6

GOAL ONE

$2 MILLION to SUPPORT CAMPUS ENHANCEMENTS

GOAL TWO

$500,000 to SUPPORT BUILDING RENOVATIONS TWO SUCCESS STORIES | This past year, Austin Prep cut the ribbon on two major renovations to the campus. The David E. Nelson Fitness Center ensures that everyone in our community has a safe, clean, and state-of-the-art facility to exercise and train. Further, the new dining facility and kitchen serves the full student body, faculty, and staff daily. The entire Austin Prep

community gathers daily to sit and share a meal together. We are proud of these accomplishments, as they reflect our commitment to our students’ health and well-being.

ROOM TO GROW | Austin Prep’s buildings serve as the educational hub of our campus. They are comprised of the same walls, windows, and stone that welcomed this community at its opening in 1961. As the heart and soul of this institution, renovations are needed to make our facility eco-friendly and energy efficient for the 21st century.

Further, renovations are needed to the Chapel of St. Augustine to update the space and better serve the community’s rich spiritual life.

THE IMPACT | We hope to raise $500,000 in philanthropic funding to support the cost of these renovations. A gift to support these much-needed renovations and updates ensures that our students of today are learning, growing, and worshipping in a space that suits their needs. It also ensures that our students of tomorrow will have the

benefit of an updated, energy-efficient space to follow in their peers’ footsteps.

The Augustinian values of Veritas, Unitas, and Caritas that envelop the culture of Austin Prep provides students with the background, knowledge, and skills to engage in a healthy spiritual life. These practices help us respond to life with gratitude rather than entitlement, with compassion rather than competition. - Father Ray Dlugos, O.S.A. Austin Prep Trustee 8

GOAL TWO

$500,000 to SUPPORT BUILDING RENOVATIONS

GOAL THREE

$500,000 TO SUPPORT FINANCIAL AID & ENDOWMENT PURSUING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE | At its core, Austin Prep’s identity is focused on providing an environment in which students grow, develop, and learn in and beyond the classroom. This tradition is informed by the Augustinian charism of veritas, unitas, and caritas—truth, unity, and love. Austin offers 21 advanced placement courses in topics

ranging from Latin to Computer Science. Every student graduating from Austin Prep is accepted to a four-year college.

PROVIDING OPPORTUNITY | By supporting Austin Prep’s endowment for scholarships, we can offer more tuition assistance so deserving students have access to top-flight academics, programs, faculty, and athletics teams. While Austin Prep is considered a competitive choice among local independent schools and a superior option for a Catholic education, tuition can still prove a barrier for some. Austin Prep aims to offer the best opportunities to our students regardless of means or circumstance.

THE IMPACT | We hope to raise $500,000 in philanthropic funding to support the cost of increased tuition assistance for students. By supporting financial aid programs, donors are supporting the students of today who need some assistance to attend Austin Prep. Together, we can:

Increase the number of talented and deserving students receiving financial aid

Diversify funding to reduce reliance on tuition to cover operating expenses

Ensure financial sustainability for years to come

Create momentum for long-term growth

Inspiring hearts to unite, minds to inquire, To sustain the accelerating trajectory of growth that Austin Prep has experienced over the past several years, we will need the support of our entire community. We seek to raise a minimum of $3 million to ensure students can access an education grounded in academic excellence, affordability, and the Augustinian tradition. Thanks to our dedicated parents, alumni, and friends, we are ready to lead Austin Prep to new heights.

“The educational foundation I built during my time at Austin Prep proved invaluable to me in both my undergraduate years at Northeastern University and in graduate school at MIT. Even beyond college, throughout my career I have found myself leveraging skills that were first impressed upon me by my Austin teachers. “

- Jamie Dooley ‘92
