GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS A full-year course provides 1 credit, and a semester-long course provides 0.5 credits, unless noted otherwise. In addition to a one-semester College Test Prep course junior year, students are required to meet the following department credit requirements. English Theology History

SAMPLE OF FRESHMAN SCHEDULE ● Theology - Introduction to Scripture ● English - Coming of Age or Dystopias and Disasters ● History - 20th Century World History or 20th Century European History ● Math - Algebra or Algebra 2 (or whatever level they place into) ● Science - Biology ● World Language - Spanish, French, Latin, or Mandarin ● Art & Design - Elective (1 semester) ● Freshman Seminar (1 semester)

GOALS:

COLLEGE ADVISEMENT & COUNSELING

• To serve as advocates for students within the college admission process through counseling, workshops, and relationship-building with colleges, as well as keeping up with the trends in the college admissions world • To serve as liaisons to the school and advisory program to assist within the course selection process • To help coordinate all college testing opportunities including the SAT, ACT, and AP ExamS • Help create a culture of of college preparation throughout every division of the school 8

Highlights of College Counseling Plan: • • • • •

1 on 1 Meetings - Individualized Meeting plans begin sophomore year, increase in frequency as student gets older College Visits - Over 275 Schools visited in past three years Junior College Prep Course - SAT & ACT preparation with our partner, Summit Educational Group, as well as college application, interview and essay preparation. Parent Curriculum - Programs include Financial Aid Preparation, Mock Admissions Case Study, and Admissions Representatives Panel Annual College Fair - More than 60 schools come each year to speak to all students at Austin Prep. 9


ATHLETICS • 24 Varsity Teams • 2017-18 “Winning Culture” – 14 CCL League Titles – 3 MIAA North Titles – Division 3 State Champions in Baseball • Awarded Boston Globe Nason Award for highest winning percentage in the Catholic Schools Conference • 13 Student-athletes from the Class of 2018 playing in college • Over 75% of Upper School students play a sport • New Facilities include Fitness Center and Film Room


ART & DESIGN • Vibrant programs in Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Digital Arts • Multiple performances each year: – Cabaret – Nutcracker – Lessons and Carols – Concerts – Theater Productions • Event Production Services (EPS) - tech support for all productions • APS Media - Student-run Film Production • Austies - Austin’s Video Award Event

40 hours of service during 4 years of Upper School Tracked by Advisors Goal is to do 10 hours each year New Theology course for Seniors: Christian Leadership and Service – First semester is a class preparing them for service – Second semester the class meets only once per cycle – 3 hours per week of direct service
