IT IS IMPORTANT THAT DESIGNERS NEED TO TALK WITH PEOPLE IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRIES AND BACKGROUND. IT IS BECAUSE THINGS ARE INTERPRETED THOUGHT THE CULTURAL BACKGROUND, AND KNOWLEDGE.. THEREFORE, OBSERVATION AND DISCUSSION ARE FUNDAMENTAL PROCESS AS A DESIGNER.

WHO AM I ?

INTRODUCING ME AS A DESIGNER

IDA NOEMI, an uinique table, was the first presentation in order to introduce me as a designer what design inclination I have. I love this table which is behind a story. From this stroy, I recall the moment when I was child playing in the opposite side of a small table. The amazing creativity is coming from innocentness, and deep emotion. I would like to be designer, who can see the world in this way, not llikely compromising with the fixed idea.

ARTEFACT ANALYSIS

It is fundamental that designers talk with people who are from different countries and different background. Indeed, things are interpreted through the cultural background, and knowledge. From the discussion for the artefact analysis, I have thought about the new influences. That is, objects are evolving by people making culture by environment and era. Then, it is becoming history which is always changing by new influence in a certain stream. In that sense, talking with people in different culture and history is the great opportunity to make a new big influence.

STORIES EMBODIED IN RADIO The radios has been closely in our life, and it has been making the great changes. The shape of it is easily thought to be the big change, while the most important one is about changing of lifestyle. When people see the radio from the past, they would remind the particular atmosphere, or experience which has powerful factors to inspirit another factor. A lot of stories are found from radios, which makes value in a next coming era.

THE HISTORY OF RADIO

STUDYING ABOUT RADIO TELLS WHERE DESIGN IS COMING FROM I believe that studying radio is neccessary to designer, because radio has all history of design. Hence, I decided to study about history of radio. Indeed, science museum has a great story about it. I tried to read carefully a number of articles of radio, and observed products from telephones to radio in depth according to the time line when they invented it and how it developed.

CREATIVITY FROM THE HISTORY

The history of radio tells where design languages are coming from. It means, the radios show the dominated way of thinking of objects reflected by technology or historical background. The every changes seems to be connected, and the great value is naturally emerging as times goes by.

THE FLOW

There is a flow in a trend of objects. To illustrate, people get bored when they are too often used to it, and then prefer to change it to follow new trend. Interestingly, a new generation is greatly inspirited from the old design elements. Therefore, the flow goes through era consistently.

PERSONAL DESIGN BRIEF1. The interpretation of radio nowadays is not just about entertainment. I would conclude that the meaning of radio is about increasing quality of life with information which could be about entertainment, or news. It should naturally in somewhere, and easily access in any situation.

EXERCISE 1. COLLABORATION THE ANOTHER FLOW

Cooperating with other people gives a number of opportunity to get a great achievement. There is no thing that is not important. A small contribution would make a completed picture. In other words, one becomes two, three, and four, and then creates the great flow for the fulfillment.

BUILDING A RADIO FROM KITS Exercise to understand cooperation and radio.

IDENTIFYING EACH ELEMENT The first thing our team members did was that identifying each kit in order to make a plan. Two members carefully read instruction, and searched internet to make sure.

SEPERATE TASKS After fully understand how to build a radio, we reorganized the map for everyone, so that everyone could contribute even a small task. The speed was getting increasing since each member specialized to one or two tasks. The key method that has a good flow was the consideration for other team mates such as drawing the big map for sharing easily, and making one communicator supporting everyone to focus on their tasks.
