Last month the following picture and story photo were in the Daily Record. Michelle called me at work to say a dog named Thor needed a home. That is all I needed to know. Thor—He was meant for me. How could someone named Rolf not have a dog named Thor?

THOR

From the Daily Record We wrote about Thor two weeks ago, but he hasn’t found his right family yet. Here’s your chance.

Thor is a beautiful 1 1/2-year-old Dalmatian / pitbull mix. He’s a neutered male who was found as a stray in town and was never claimed.

Thor is good with other dogs and loves to play ball.

He needs an active home that would give him lots of attention and exercise.

A fenced yard would be best because he is a busy, smart boy who wants to learn and please people.

So off I went to fill out the paperwork and claim Thor. Later that week Thor and I made the journey home to join our other top dogs; Freddy a Rottweiler that came to us out of a divorce, and Riley an English Setter gun dog that didn’t perform for the previous owner as promised.

They all get along well, Thor being the junior by over 10 years.

Flash forward a couple of weeks and I am in the line at the grocery store. I have a case of water that is a little beat up and the clerk made a comment about it. I told her I always seem attracted to the dented can or torn packaging. She then asked if I got my dogs from the pound too.

“Well actually yes, I just got a dog named Thor a few weeks ago”. She immediately knew what I was talking about. The women behind me then chimed in—”You got Thor?” Wow thanks to Thor I’m famous.

Then the lady behind her said the same thing. Hmm the dog is better known than I am……..

Spring in Eastern WA (SNOW) Doesn’t the transition from winter to spring feel like riding a YoYo? Saturday evening we had dinner with my parents near Easton and drove home around 10pm in about 4 inches of the heaviest soupiest slushiest sloppiest snow I’ve ever encountered! Talk about a white knuckle express!

We decided to reach out to the Humane Society and see what we could find. The dog we found will never replace “Rosco” but has certainly become a big part of our family. Her name is “Maggie”, she is a 1 year old beagle/husky mix.

When we got her she had been badly abused, very mal-nourished and was recovering from a gun shot wound to her back. Since we rescued her she has made huge improvements.
