April is Autism Awareness, Acceptance and Appreciation Month The sign over our entrance door in the lobby reads “We’ve Been Touched By Autism”
This doesn't just apply to me & my family, but to our entire Jerrol’s Team. For some of us, we are touched by Autism as parents, siblings or family members. For others, it is being on the Autism Spectrum themselves. For everyone else, it’s being a co-worker and a friend. We are a small rural area with few of the options available in larger areas, such as Spokane or Seattle. Providers are limited and employment options are limited. Access to training and medical care often force people to travel to the Westside. At the same time we do have amazing resources like Sprit Therapeutic Riding Center, Trellis, Elmview, Entrust, Parent to Parent, our local school system, our local Developmental Disabilities Administration office, Special Olympics Swimming (and more), and all the people inside and outside of these organizations who have dedicated their careers to help us. Thursday, April 28th, from 6-8pm, Jerrol’s will host the annual Autism in Our Community discussion in The Room at Jerrol’s. It will be focused on: life after school and the issues around employment, continuing education, personal supports, and housing. While we will focus on individuals on the spectrum, the topic really applies to anyone with special needs (and their families, friends etc) who want to know about the resources available after graduation. It is open to the public and I invite you to attend.

We Celebrate YOU on Administrative Professionals Day Wednesday, April 27th You are the HERO of your business!! At Jerrol’s we understand just how important you are. Our goal is to always make you look good and to say THANK YOU for all you do. You are the one that keeps the Team supplied with everything they need to get their jobs done.
History of Administrative Professionals Day Administrative Professionals Day and Administrative Professionals Week are widely
observed in many workplaces in the United States and other countries around the world. Many employers and supervisors arrange events to show their appreciation of the work carried out by administrative professionals, to highlight their importance to the organization and to enhance their work-related skills. During World War II, there was an increased need for skilled administrative personnel, particularly in the United States. The National Secretaries Association was formed to recognize the contributions of secretaries and other administrative personnel to the economy, to support their personal development and to help attract people to administrative careers in the field. The association's name was changed to Professional Secretaries International in 1981 and, finally, the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) in 1998.
These changes in name reflected the changing nature of the tasks, qualifications and responsibilities of the members of the organization. IAAP now has an international orientation and continues to provide education and training and set standards of excellence recognized by the business community on a global perspective. The organization's vision is "to inspire and equip all administrative professionals to attain excellence". The first National Secretaries Week was organized in 1952 in conjunction with the United States Department of Commerce and various office supply and equipment manufacturers. The Wednesday of that week became known as National Secretaries Day. As the organization gained international recognition, the events became known as Professional Secretaries Week® and Professional Secretaries Day®. In 2000, IAAP announced that names of the week and the day were changed to Administrative Professionals Week and Administrative Professionals Day to keep pace with changing job titles and expanding responsibilities of
the modern administrative workforce. Many work environments across the world observe this event. You can clip this out and leave on a certain desk...
The most common ways of recognizing your Administrative Professional(s) today are: Flowers Cards, often with shopping gift
certificates Take them to lunch Candies Assorted Gift Baskets Just say Thanks!!!!

I couldn't resist trying this out when I saw it on Pinterest. Theirs was done with a date stamp (which I do not have), but it really doesn't matter what the stamp says or what color! I started by cutting my butcher paper into 2ft sections (much more manageable that way). Using my pencil I drew some simple shapes: a British flag= a cross and an x, I traced an oval tray & some round plates from my kitchen and I just eyeballed the checkerboard pattern. Now for the fun part... Stamp away. (I did try this with a stamp and stamp pad but it was SO much easier with the self inking stamps) You'll get the hang of it pretty quickly, sometimes it goes where you want it and sometimes it doesn't, but it's all part of the charm. Have fun and be creative!! And what exactly do you do with these beauties when you're done??? The most obvious would be wrapping paper, but how about a book cover or even framing it for your wall! Whatever you decide...enjoy! You can reach Corrie at Corrie@Jerrols.com
