Sad to say, I put the snowmobile away last month. I tucked it away in a corner of the garage, right by my skis. I still have my back country pack hanging in the living room, but I am sure Michelle will make me store that away in a closet soon too . The end of the snow season. But wait! I broke out the dirt bike and in no time was able to find enough snow to bury it and have to turn around at the top of Mission Ridge under a Blue Bird sky.

Stopped cold so to speak, just before the first microwave tower on Mission ridge coming up Coleman Canyon.
I love our valley and the variety of outdoor opportunities that exist just minutes from the front door. Not too many places can you go from 80 degrees to 10 feet of snow in under a half hour (Yes I travel quick by bike). And it sure beats worrying about the fact that I need to get the darn garden planted before I run out of time and it starts snowing again. And for the rest of you, stop pulling weeds and get out and play!!

You’re Invited to Our 69th Anniversary Party!! My grandparents, Don & Irene Williams, opened the doors of Jerrol’s for the VERY first time 69 years ago—June 21, 1947. We were named Jerrol’s Handy Stop at that time. The same neon sign that is over our doors today was on top of that first building. That 18’ long sign is as long as the original store was wide!
FREE Scoops of Ice Cream Just For Stopping In! “Grandpa Don’s Root Beer Float” Tuesday, June 21st In the early days we were a soda fountain. Don and Irene offered cold food selections like pie and sandwiches, as well as magazines and other “sundry items”. Of all the dessert items that were offered, Grandpa liked root beer floats the best. The gang at Winegar’s Home Made Ice Cream & Coffee has, once again, mixed up a batch of, “Grandpa Don’s Root Beer Float” ice cream just for you as a tribute to Grandpa Don. We are offering you a FREE scoop at our Anniversary Party, Tuesday, June 21st from 8am to 8pm . We will even use the same ice cream scoop Grandpa Don used.
A FREE QUART of Ice Cream for Purchases of $69 or More For every purchase over $69, you are entitled to a FREE Quart of “Grandpa Don’s Root Beer Float” ice cream. If you like the ice cream and want to take some home, all you need to do is make a purchase of $69 (as in 69 years in business). Just one more way we say “Thank You”!! All of our history and photos can be found online including a video history tour of the store at

What Does 69 Years Mean? Three stories people told us this year Remembering the first store being built Lee recently returned to the Kittias Valley having first lived here 1936 through his graduation in from what was then Central Washington State College in the 50’s. He mentioned too that he could remember our first store being built by Grandpa in 1946 in the lawn in front of his house which is now the corner of our parking lot by the stop sign at C street and University Way. Working in at Jerrol’s When I Was Born The daughter of Anita was passing through town and stopped in to see the store her mom worked at during college. She saw our book, The Unfinished History of Jerrol’s, from ice cream and pies to office supplies, and was buying one for her mom. We got to talking and she decided to call her mom to find out exactly when she worked at Jerrol’s and to tell her about the book. Turns out it was from 1964 to 1967. She was working in the store the year I was born!! That was also the period of time when we were transitioning from being a dinner to a University Bookstore. Thank You for giving me a chance A woman came in the store and asked who owned the store. When I told her I was 3rd generation Williams she started to get tears in her eyes. She was traveling across the state and stopped in Ellensburg because she wanted to Thank my grandparents who gave her a job as a cook at Jerrol’s in the 50’s when she was going to college as a single mom. She just wanted to tell them how much it meant to her and her kids. We ended up giving each other hugs before she left. _________________________ Not a month goes by that we don’t bump into someone with fond memories of the store, my Grandparents, Parents, and the hundreds of people that have worked here. I am very humbled by these stories and that they are important enough that people take the time to let us know. I am very grateful to be part of the Jerrol’s legacy and being able to carry forward the dream my grandparent had for Jerrol’s. - Rolf
Sad News from The Team Robin Maurer will be leaving our Team after 6 plus years with us. She has been greeting you every weekday morning since 2010. She will be moving to Super One in order to secure healthcare benefits for her family. We know it was a very difficult decision and understand, with medical costs ever increasing, her need to make this decision.
Corrie’s Craft of the Month Cork Board Art We sell these great cork tiles at Jerrol's, so I decided to make some art out of them!
We will miss her laugh, the fact that she knows everyone in town by their first name, and her skills creating wonderful displays. Her daughter Jenna has already secured the family an invite to our Christmas party so she can play our mystery present game. Be sure to stop by to wish her well. And remember all you have to do is shop at Super One and you’ll still have a chance to see her. _____________________
