Skiing Mom found some photos she and Dad had of our daughter, Jordan, skiing at Big Mountain, Montana when she was 2 years and 8 months old. It is hard to believe that little girl is now 25 and married in far off Williston, North Dakota. She stills skis and will be joining her brother Gerik; Mom, Michelle; her grandma, Annette; my sister, Elizabeth’s family; our college friend, Mike Wedekind’s family (his brother Jeff and Angie live here in Ellensburg); and me for a week of skiing back at Big Mountain. Jordan will be bringing her husband, Israel, for his first time on skis.

Gerik will be taking his first formal ski lessons this year through their adaptive ski program. That should be very interesting. We checked it out last year and were very impressed with how the volunteers worked with participants with various abilities. Skiing is something that my parents did in high school and continued with us as kids. We always took ski vacations with extended family. If I remember correctly it was the only thing I could get away with skipping school for. Michelle and I were giving Jordan advice on how to help Israel learn to ski. Michelle pointed out that her first experience was me trying to give her a lesson on a hill she considered way too steep. She remembers sliding most of the way down just to get off the hill. Apparently after she recovered, professional lessons were purchased and went much better. Not sure that is how I remember it, but what are you going to do? I think Jordan has decided that a professional lesson would be the way to go. Seems like taking the easy way out to me. -Rolf P.S.
