My Heatstroke Induced Ramblings My daughter Jordan graduated from WSU this month. My son is going to turn 18, Jerrols just hit 67, and I am trying to figure out how this all happened. I am absolutely not that old. I can’t be. Is it just me? Wow…… Does anyone else feel this way? ************************** You are invited to our “Lets hope there aren’t any fires, fire sale” through the 14th of July. Hundreds and hundreds of items at rock bottom prices. Posters, maps (make cool wrapping paper), books, clothing and the list goes on and on. Jessica, Michelle and the whole Team have been going through the store finding items to add. You will not want to miss this. It started on July 1st so come on in and celebrate the lack of fires (WE HOPE). ************************** We have a new Team member. Abby Beauchamp joined us in June. She grew up in Marysville and is attending CWU. Her goal is a degree in Psychology. It is always so fun to bring a new member on to what we think of as our Jerrol’s “boat” ride. It always impresses me how everyone steps up and helps our during our new team member orientation and training. I think we all learn more by teaching than the person we are teaching!! ************************** Speaking of learning, we now have a new online video that walks you (literally) through our history starting in 1947. You can view it at http://History.Jerrols.com . We have gotten one suggestion to make a spoof of the video using aliens. I am going to take that as a compliment and look forward to seeing what they put together. I wonder if the alien is going to play my role?? ************************** Go enjoy your summer, I am counting down the days till snow flies…...

Skin Game $27.95 by Jim Butcher
The modern maestro of urban fantasy is back for book 15 of The Dresden Files. Harry Dresden has a problem, after bartering his services to Mab, Queen of Air and Darkness and Queen of the Winter Fae, to save his daughter Harry has been pushed into some very uncomfortable situations as the Winter Knight. This round Mab again uses Harry’s daughter Maggie to get what she wants, and what she wants could very well be the second death of Harry. Heists have always been a favorite setting for me and when you put my favorite detective into the mix the expectations rise exponentially. Harry must work with some of his most dangerous enemies to break into two impenetrable vaults all while keeping his real friends in the dark as to his motives. The lines begin to blur between good and evil and we are left to wonder just how far Harry has wandered over to the dark side. No other book series has captivated me quite like the Dresden Files and while I prefer starting series at the beginning each novel is standalone and can be read as such. Longtime readers though will appreciate the world building that has gone on. The Chicago of Harry Dresden is very much lived in, you feel the ebb and flow of the lives that make up this incredibly enjoyable world.
who amazingly woke up from his sudden coma appeared to steal clothes and Clives Jaguar. Darkus went with his father hoping he could reconnect with him. While working on a case with his father Darkus found a book called The Code the most dangerous book in the world. Darkus and his sister Tilly worked together as well, the pair find that the book is more dangerous than they thought. This book can control people to things they wouldn't ever do and it is up to Tilly and Darkus to save the world while Alan Knightly is otherwise occupied. Will the pair end everything? read Knightley and Son to find out. Reviewed by Britainey Streepy _________________________________

What a Party Last month at our 67th anniversary party we celebrated by giving away over 750 scoops of “Grandpa Don’s Root Beer Float Ice Cream”. Our door counter picked up 530 people who walked through the door, so I guess that over 220 must have been under 4 feet tall!! Go figure… We also released the second edition of The Unfinished History of Jerrol’s Book & Office Supply Co. From Ice Cream and Pies to Office Supplies. It features a great story by Jean Skibeness, some new pictures and more information on my Uncle Rolf R. and grandma and grandpa.
I was able to get a few more leads on additional stories to research and add for the third edition next year. If you have a suggestion let me know. -Rolf _________________________________
Corrie’s Craft of the Month Candle Holders
You can read the first two paragraphs of Jean’s story below, but you will have to buy the book to read the rest of it. We have them in the store or online atTheBook.Jerrols.com or send us an email at TheBook@Jerrols.com and I’ll forward the entire story to you. “This must have been in 1951 or 52 and I would have been a Junior or Senior at Ellensburg High School. We had been to a Bulldog dance. Our Bulldog dances were held at the YMCA which was located in the large brick building on the corner of Water St. and 4th St. today. They were at least twice a month. Sometimes three times a month. After the dance, here was father Dillon in his car sitting outside the YMCA with his two dogs in it. If any of us, after coming out of the dance, weren’t home in about an hour he was on the phone calling our folks. So that didn’t leave you much time to go to Seth’s Café and eat, but sometimes we would go and have some French fries. There would be me and Jerry, Beth Knudson, John Harris, Bill Oleander, and sometimes Jerry Platt. I think we were all there.
Wanna make something with the kids? Try making these cool candleholders out of mason jars. (We like to use them when we're out camping.)
1. Take the tissue paper and cut or tear it up. 2. Take the Elmer's glue and water it down a bit. 3. Brush it onto the jar, you can work on one small area at a time, you do not need to do it all at once. 4. Arrange the tissue bits as desired.
For some reason one night after the dance we got this great idea, “Lets go to the store”. Jerry could get us in and let’s make Sundays with all the ice cream and all the good stuff because we knew we had to be home in about an hour. So we made sundaes. Well then we were stuck with all these dirty dishes. So lets take them over to the basement of the church and leave them there and we will wash them in the morning……………”
5. Once complete, cover the outside with another thin coat of Elmer's. You can use all kinds of stuff to cover the jar, not just tissue paper. (Idea and pictures by Corrie, Instructions by Rolf - He just stole them off the internet…) You can reach Corrie at Corrie@Jerrols.com
