One of my favorite activities is to go snowmobiling with my son Gerik. We have been riding throughout this winter in even in the low snow conditions, often bouncing over more rocks and dirt than snow. We get lots of strange looks riding double especially since Gerik is now bigger than I am!! He loves the adventures we get into and never complains when I get us stuck and he has to wait while I dig us out. He does get impatient waiting for dad to get everything ready to go. Often Michelle comes with us and hangs out at a fire reading while we go play.

Some might think taking a kid who is non-verbal and has autism riding to be risky or even impossible. I find it empowering for Gerik to have a chance to go play in the snow and feel the speed and thrill of plowing through the snow. Life is a risk, people die sitting on their couches.
