Expansion Update Wow - It is hard to believe that last September 22nd we had only just started construction and 20 some odd weeks later Winegars is scheduled to open Valentines Day. Things like grass, asphalt patching and some painting will have to wait for the warmer weather this spring, but the place is really coming together. Winegars will be open 7 days a week, 6am to 10pm. The double doors between us will swing open 8am to 8pm weekdays and 9am to 6pm weekends. Winegars north/east store will remain open with no changes to the operations at that location. Available NOW is the ability to rent our new meeting room; 1,000 sq feet with food and beverages available next door at Winegars. You can find out more about The Meeting Room at Jerrols in the insert. Thank you for your support and understanding during construction. We could not have done it with out YOU!!
As I write this article early on the morning of Sunday, 1-25, Winegars is preparing to move into their space tomorrow morning and is planning to open on Valentines day, Saturday, February 14th at 6am. Lots of things need to happen before that can occur, including the city issuing an occupancy permit. So stay tuned… This expansion will be Jerrol’s 7th1. 1947 Built original store 18 x 30 (540 sq feet) 2. 1950 Expanded that store to 18 x 60 (1080 sq feet) 3. 1952 Built “new” store, 40 x 40 (1,600 sq feet) 4. 1950’s Expanded that store to 40 x 80 (3,200 sq feet) 5. 1950’s Expanded that store to 40 x 125 (5,000 sq feet) 6. 1988 Expanded that store to 80 x 125 (10,000 sq feet) 7. 2015 Newest expansion for a total of 120 x 125 (15,000 sq feet) The goal to expand the building for the seventh time started in 1990, 25 years ago, when Dad and I started to discuss purchasing the house at 107 E. University Way, known as The Apartments, that was immediately to the west of the store and exactly where the our current expansion has taken place. In 1993 we purchased the property from Paul Bartow. In 2000 Reecer Creek Excavation removed that building. Back in 1990 we didn’t know what the expansion would look like. We had no financing, we just took the first step that lead to the next and 25 years later here we are. There was no way we could have foreseen the final outcome. However we couldn’t have gotten here with setting that initial goal. After that we followed the path as it unfolded. There were numerous setbacks and roadblocks, but with lots of pig headed discipline and determination we kept moving forward. The Universe kept giving us the answers we needed. Not as fast as I would have liked, but as I tell everyone, I am working on my patience. You will find more goals on page 3. -Rolf P.S. Your Favorites List If you use the Jerrol’s online ordering site you have several ways to place your orders faster and easier. One is the FAVORITES option. You can open your favorites lists by clicking the FAVORITIES menu tab at the top of your screen. When you open your FAVORTIES menu you will see at least one list named Default favorites list. You can change the name of any list at any time by clicking the blue edit link. To add additional favorite lists, click the Add a new Favorites List link on this page. You can make as many Favorite Lists as you like. Perhaps one for your office supplies and one for your janitorial supplies. It may be simpler to keep it to one list. You can delete an entire list by clicking the small blue x on the right. You can add items to you Favorites lists from just about anywhere you can view items. Look for the Favorites drop down box by the item. Clicking the down arrow will allow you to select which list you wish to add the item to. If you have not used your favorites list before or have not edited the name you will find just one list available called Default favorites list. In the example above there are two lists, the Default Favorites List and Springwood. Once you have added some items you can use the FAVORITES menu again to view them. Ordering from here is a snap, just enter the qty of any items you need to order and click the Add to Cart on the top or bottom right of the screen. This will add them to your shopping cart where you can proceed as you normally do when you order. You can also remove items from the list by clicking the small blue x on the far right of the screen or move them to another list if you have created them. If you don’t use the Jerrol’s online ordering site, we are glad to make a favorites list for you that you can use to place your orders.
Are SMART Goals Limiting You? Brendon Buchard, author of The Charge: Activating the 10 Human Drives That Make You Feel Alive challenges that “"Smart" goals almost always end up being small goals, utterly predictable and absurdly measured small plans for small people who need certainty and safety to such a degree they cannot wade into the wide territory of the unknown where real vision and progress lives. No great innovation or human leap forward came from a predictable path or an idea that was immediately 'attainable' or 'realistic.' It's rare that these types of goals ever spark the imagination or fire the will of the human spirit. Let us set grand visions and diligently seek the impossible once more. Greatness and progress depends on those who see beyond their certainties.”
will never know. Once you do, then you can decide what do to at that point. But you must start moving forward. Be SMART out there, but not so smart you aren’t living your life to the fullest. Realistic and attainable can be a safe approach, but sometimes too safe!! Go challenge yourself by setting a few huge goals. -Rolf

Remember that SMART Stands forSpecific - Measurable - Attainable - Relevant - Timed
I think Brendon has a good point and it is interesting and instructive to have a discussion about his perspective. You can read a review of his book The Charge on page 3 of this newsletter. I agree with him that you could be limiting yourself by making your goals too attainable so that you are sure to achieve them. You might be hesitant to set huge goals because you might not achieve them on first try. You might consider that a failure. I would counter that your most interesting growth and learning occur in so called failure, a word that I rarely use and only in the context of giving up. If you don’t achieve your goal, don't give up, evaluate why, apply what you learned and go on. You may want to have each step in achieving your goal carefully laid out before setting it. That approach will never allow you to make the giant leaps that you owe yourself. Set your goals and let the universe provide the answers to how it can be accomplished. Once you open your mind to it, put some faith and desire in it and watch out, the answers to how will start showing up in what some call “Coincidences”. I don’t believe in “coincidence”, you will find that the universe is much more deliberate and wants to help you succeed. Think of working toward a goal as walking down a new path. You don’t know what forks are in the road until you get to them. If you don’t start walking, you
