Gerik, my son with autism, is a senior at Kittitas High School and will be “graduating” this year. He will not take part in any of the ceremonies, they are not of interest to him and are not the type of environments he does well in. He will continue to receive instruction at KHS for another two years until age twenty-one. It is still an important milestone and he has learned so much. His classmates have been very supportive; he has been with them for the past 13 years. Our family will celebrate it with him in our own way. I am often asked to explain what it is like to raise a child like Gerik, or told how great Michelle and I must be. I think the best explanation can be found at www.our-kids.org/archives/Holland.html

Minneapolis 2015 I mentioned last month that I would soon be meeting my daughter Jordan and her fiancé Israel in Minneapolis, MN at a business marketing conference. They both absorbed much information, saw Penn Jillette, from Penn and Teller speak, and met many other Entrepreneurs. Jordan came away with the idea to help the Chiropractors she works for create and mail newsletters to their patients. She took the information she learned at the conference about selling, made a presentation to the doctors, and will be mailing it this June!!

What Class Do You Want? Take the survey online to let us know what kind of class you would like to take. Word, QuickBooks, Face Painting, Drawing, Oil Painting - let us know!!

She is now thinking of offering a newsletter service to Chiropractors around the country. -Rolf P.S. You can contact me any time at 509 925-9851 or 800 858-2427, my cell 509 899-0120, or email Rolf@Jerrols.com.

You’re Invited to Our 68th Anniversary Party!!

Responsibility Vs Privilege Of Owning a Business

My grandparents, Don & Irene Williams, opened the doors of Jerrol’s for the VERY first time 68 years ago—June 21, 1947. We were named Jerrol’s Handy Stop at that time. The same 18’ neon sign that is over our doors today was on top of that first building and is as long as the original store was wide!

I grew up in a family business. By the time I started working here, Jerrol’s had been around for 30 plus years. I never thought of Jerrol’s as a privilege. I was taught by my parents that owning a business is a responsibility.

FREE Scoops of Ice Cream Just For Stopping In! “Grandpa Don’s Root Beer Float” Sunday, June 21st In the early days we were a soda fountain. Don and Irene offered cold food selections like pie and sandwiches, as well as magazines and other “sundry items”. Of all the dessert items that were offered, Grandpa liked root beer floats the best. The gang at Winegar’s Home Made Ice Cream & Coffee has once again mixed up a batch of our limited edition, “Grandpa Don’s Root Beer Float” ice cream just for you as a tribute to Grandpa Don. We are offering you a FREE scoop at our Anniversary Party, Saturday, June 21st from 9am to 6pm . We will even use the same ice cream scoop Grandpa Don used. All of our history and photos can be found online including a video history tour of the store at

www.History.Jerrols.com TWO FREE QUARTS of Ice Cream For every purchase over $168 you are entitled to TWO FREE Quarts of “Grandpa Don’s Root Beer Float” ice cream. Place your order on Thursday the 18th or Friday the 19th by 3:56 pm via email, fax, phone or online-any way you want! All you have to do is mention ICE CREAM with your order. For online orders, put ICE CREAM in the order comments field during checkout. We will bring the ice cream when we deliver your order. Or, you can request certificates that can be used to pick up your ice cream directly from Winegar’s.

I believe how I conduct myself and run Jerrol’s is a direct reflection on my grandparents, Don & Irene Williams, who started Jerrol’s in their front yard in 1947. That is where the stop sign is now in the corner of our East parking lot at C St & University Way. My conduct also represents my respect for my parents, Jerry and Annette, and all the people who have worked for and patronized Jerrol’s. They created and supported the legacy with which I have been entrusted. This line of thought has served me well. It makes me think through decisions and ingrains the desire to have world class customer service into every fiber of my body. How could we do anything less? When I think of how hard everyone has worked to create Jerrol’s and the sacrifices they made to grow this business that has spanned three generations and 67 years - I am grateful and humble. One way I’ve shown my respect to our legacy was by co-writing a book on our history with my dad and grandfather. The third edition will be out by our anniversary on Sunday June 21st. It has a new cover design and interior graphic layout, contains more past team members and a new chapter on our recent expansion. You can read an excerpt of the updates at TheBook.Jerrols.com If you are interested in receiving a complimentary copy of the third edition of The Unfinished History of Jerrol’s: From Ice Cream & Pies to Office Supplies send an email to Rolf@Jerrols.com and I’ll make sure you get a copy.

Your Opportunity for Training

Corrie’s Craft of the Month

As a business client you now have the opportunity to access the training we have developed, and used for years at Jerrol’s. You have chosen to do business with Jerrol’s because of our Customer Service, and the people who delivery it. It is created and sustained by constant, ongoing training and learning by our team. We never stand still. Literally.

Colored Sand Art We've all poured sand into a bottle or glass and made some great designs. But I wanted to try something new (to me at least) with all the cool colored sand we have here at Jerrols. This is what I came up with. It's simple and a whole lot of fun!

All of our experience and expertise is now being made available to you in series of concise, focused, small, classes geared toward business. These are NOT your typical academic college type classes. They are real world, hands on, learn it and use it instruction from people who use it daily in their businesses. From beginner 101, intermediate 102 to advanced 103, most of these classes are just three weeks long, one to two hours per week. Some subjects however are monthly and ongoing such as Marketing. Let us know how we can help you by taking a quick 2 minute survey at Survey.Jerrols.com. You will earn a $20 credit toward your first class and help us design a training program tailored to your needs. ._____________________________

Supplies Foam board or canvas Colored sand Elmer's glue Paint brush 1. Start by drawing a design on your board/canvas with a #2 pencil. Using the paintbrush, "paint" some glue onto your project. Only do a small section so the glue is wet for the next step. 3. Pour sand over the glue and let it dry. 4. Pour off the extra sand 5. Continue gluing and sanding until your design is complete. It's easier if you only do one color at a time! Have fun and enjoy! Corrie Ihrke
