Expansion Update December was the month of inspections and upgrading and moving our existing building’s electrical panels. Many of them were from the 1950s. This created a couple of days of “romantic” low lighting while shopping. Thanks again to you for your understanding!! Now that our major inspections are done and the insulation has been installed, the dry wall is going up & we can prepare to paint the interior. There are doors with locks and furnaces!!! The exterior porch and seating areas are complete and the rock and concrete work is amazing. Grandpa would be pleased. Once the interior painting is completed the three openings for the doors into the existing store will be cut, those doors will be installed and the floors can then be stained and sealed. The target date to be in the new building has been moved to January 15th and to have Winegar’s Home Made Ice Cream & Coffee open by mid February.
Since this is the time of year everyone talks about setting goals making New Years resolutions the following has become my annual reprinting of the article I wrote back in 2012 on the subject. I hope you find it useful______________________________________________________
One secret most people don’t want to talk about when it comes to achieving their goals is the fact that most goals are accomplished by creating the right habits. As Vince Zirpoli, a Management Consultant at www.MegaMarketing.com likes to say“Successful people have the discipline to create the habits that allow them to achieve their goals”. After you have created a written SMART goal (more on that on page 3) and start to take the steps to achieve it, you quickly come to realize that what you really need to do is create new and different HABITS. Think about the goal of saving $5,000 in a new savings account to be used on Friday, January 14th, 2014 to invest in a ROTH IRA for your retirement. To accomplish this goal you will need to open a savings account, and put $416.66 in it each month. How are you going to come up with the $416.66? – the only legal ways I know of are to spend less or make more. You can take on extra work by changing your HABITS and investing your time differently, less Facebook, TV, emails ect.. and invest that time into a part time job or extra responsibilities at your current job. You can create the Habit of spending less. A great way to do this is to take a set amount from each paycheck and immediately put it in the new savings account. Habits take DISCIPLINE, DETERMINATION, and PERSISTANCE to accomplish. But like everything in life, if you want a different outcome, you are going to need to do something different. That takes WORK. But you can do it if you take the responsibility to create the Habits that will allow you to achieve your goals. Even the process of setting goals is nothing more then creating the habit of thinking it through, getting it in writing and taking the steps to achieve it!!!

Herbie’s Game Timothy Hallinan $26.95 - Hardback
The fourth book in the Junior Bender Mystery series by Timothy Hallinan, Herbie’s Game throws the burgler-turneddetective into a case that turns out to be more personal than he expects. A funny mystery that you won’t be able to put down! If you like mysteries and haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend it
Laura Hillenbrand, author of Seabiscut, gives us the story of Louis Zamperini a Bombardier in World War II. Interestingly he competed in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, just like the nine American men in the book The Boys In The Boat. He survived the crash of his plane into the pacific ocean in 1943. The story follows his battle to survive in a raft across thousands of mile of ocean, only to be rescued by a Japanese patrol boat and imprisonment in their camps. The story has just been release as a movie directed by Angelina Jolie.

S M A R T Goals A common strategy in setting goals is to use the SMART goal framework. Having the right structure in your goal setting makes a huge difference in achieving the them. A possible goal would be to lose some weight starting tomorrow. Lets take that goal and look at it using SMART goal structure. SMART stands forSpecific– Answer the 4 Why questions: Who, What, Where and When. The more specific and detailed you are the less likely you will fail due to ambiguity. Measurable– Make it something you can measure. Without it being specific, you can’t measure your progress toward it, or know if you have achieved it! See if you can’t give it a number. Make it an objective goal and not a subjective one. So exactly, specifically how much weight? Attainable- Your goal needs to be something you can accomplish. Setting wildly optimistic goals or ones that you are not willing to do the work to accomplish is a recipe for disappointment. If you have never been able to lose weight before, make it 5 pounds in two months. Little steps lead to huge leaps.
The first goal is so vague so could never tell if you accomplished it or not, and if you think about it, tomorrow never comes so there isn't even a starting point for it. Now an advanced tip - Write it down on paper in your own handwriting and put is somewhere you will see it each day. I like them on my truck visor, but a bathroom mirror would work just as well. Ok... it is up to you. Make sure you create goals for yourself and not others. You can NOT set goals for other people. You CAN help them set their own with you help. Be SMART out there. -Rolf
_____________________ Corrie’s Craft of the Month Marble Jars Mod Podge is a versatile crafting supply- try the new line of colors to jazz up any project! Create marble jars- a simple yet stunning craft.
Relevant- Is this really a goal that makes sense for you: Is it worthwhile? Is now the right time? Does it fit to your overall situation?
You will need: -Colored Mod Podge -Assorted glass jars -A tray to set your jars on as they drip and dry
Timed- Set an exact date and time that you will accomplish your goal by. There is a lot of power in really thinking this through. Try to close your eyes and visualize the moment you will accomplish your goal. Write down where you are and what you are doing. The more specific and detailed you can be the better your results.
1. Squirt your desired Mod Podge colors into the bottom of a clean glass jar. The bottom of the jar should be fully covered.
So when do you jump on a scale? Monday mornings after a shower? Than use that as your end time. So let look at the simple goal to lose some weight starting tomorrow that we started with. It sounds like something you might say on New Years Eve!
2. Turn the jar upside down, and optionally twist, turn and gently shake it to swirl the Mod Podge colors together, creating a marbled effect. 3. Set the jar on the tray to allow the Mod Podge to drip down the sides of the jar and dry.
What if you changed it toI, Rolf Williams, will lose 10 pounds and weigh 185 pounds by Friday, March 20th 2015 so that I can enjoy more spring skiing without having to work so hard hiking up the hill.
Use your marble jars as storage for pens or makeup brushes, as vases and more!! Corrie Ihrke
