Expansion Update
Gerik, Michelle and I returned to canoeing at Vantage last month. It has been a long time, Michelle says, over 18 months since we have been able to put into the water there due to the water drawdown to repair Wanapum Dam, and the shore closure that went with it. This is one of Gerik’s and our favorite activities and being able to do it just 20 minutes from our house has always been a bonus. I must say that not being able to go to Vantage did get us up to Cooper Lake far more last summer than normal, and it is such a beautiful lake—but three times the drive. Now that we have we have Vantage back, we will be able to head down on weeknights after work and goof around for an hour or so and still make it back in time to make dinner.
On the inside of the store you will find that the balsa & bass wood displays have been moved to the new hobby/craft aisle along with the display of metal products.
As much as I love my job, and the Team I work with here at Jerrol’s, these moments with my family are the ones I look forward to the most. Not having Jordan at home to join us has made me appreciate these experiences even more and to take them less for granted.
The copy paper has been moved closer to the office supplies and reorganized to allow matching envelope and paper to be displayed side by side. The craft and scrapbooking paper has relocated to the craft aisle. Clipboards and writing pads are now with all the other office supplies and computer labels are now with office supplies too.
Speaking of Jordan, I have a chance to meet up with her and her fiancé, Israel, in Minneapolis. They have decided to join me at a business gathering called the SuperConference. At past SuperConferences I learned the importance writing a monthly printed newsletter to communicate with you, discovered the people who run our Rewards program and learned lots of other cool nerdy business stuff. Since I don’t have the opportunity to see them very often, I am learning to create new chances to make new memories with them.
Outside we are reviewing our options for landscaping, low water options seem wiser than the original idea of grass all the way around. More on this soon. There is lots more to come….
Now it is your turn, go make some memories with your family!!
In the end, isn’t that what this journey is all about?

Can you ever have too many catch all bowls? Here's my attempt at a clay "lace bowl". It's perfect for jewelry, cotton balls or even lost buttons. Here's what you need! Supplies: Oven-bake clay (I used Sculpey) Rolling pin Metal bowl (to hold clay in oven) Paint (water based) and paintbrush Pieces of scrap lace or doilies Start with a golf-ball size amount of clay (I used one square of Sculpey) and roll it into a ball. Place on your work surface and flatten it. Use your rolling pin and make it about 1/8" thick. You can cut the edges off or leave them uneven for a more rustic look.
More information and availability are online at
TheRoom.Jerrols.com
Place a piece of lace onto the clay and roll over it with a rolling pin. Repeat with different lace pieces, you can use as many or as little as you like.

Erik Brooks Author / Illustrator Kids and adults line up to have Erik draw and sign his books in The Room, Thursday, April 16th.
Anne Rutherford Storyteller / Author Signing a book after her performance of scenes from Alice In Wonderland Saturday, April.
Place your clay in your metal bowl. (I sprayed my bowl with Pam first) If you want a more shallow bowl just don't press clay down completely into bowl. Bake clay in bowl using baking instructions from your clay. After your bowl is hard and cool, lightly apply a fairly dry coat of paint. Try to color the raised parts and leave the embossed parts white. Let dry and enjoy! You can reach Corrie at Corrie@Jerrols.com

Jerrol’s Journal May 2015 A Few Comments From Our Clients “Love the new look of Jerrols. So many services have been added to help make our lives more convenient. I have tried several of Thorp based Rill's Foods soup packets and have enjoyed them all. Have not visited the Winegars section yet but it is on my to-do list. It is a pleasure to see that you provide an outlet for locally based small business.” - Sharon Romppel - Rewards Member “I was able to special order a book that I needed ASAP and it arrived the next day. Better than Amazon, you guys rocked it and got it to me in time and saved my bacon!!” -Heather Hunholz - Rewards Member “I couldn't believe how helpful the Gal (Robin) was who helped me. Instead of telling me where something was she took me right to it. Great E-Burg attitude.” -Gary McAllaster - Rewards Member
