Michelle and I finished canning our last jar of peaches from our tree last Saturday—a month earlier than ever before. We only had enough for 24 jars this year; half our normal yearly goal of 52 jars. They were much small this year, which made for extra work on Michelle’s part. She is in charge of the peeling, pitting and stuffing. I get to man (ha ha ha) the stove. They looked and tasted great, more yellow than usual. Maybe the stress of the hot summer had them sweeter? Now it looks like we will soon be on to the tomatoes, something we normally do the end of September. For some reason it seem that our first ripe tomato is always late September. This year we already have bowls full. No complaints about that. We will certainly have everything from the garden finished up long before we need to shift gears and focus on Jordan & Israel's wedding. We are on KRD water and are starting to see even some of the oldest trees around us show signs of distress. With no water other than mother nature until next year it will be interesting (if you want to call it that) to see what happens. Let’s all start thinking of positive thoughts for snow, and remember to keep it positive if the white stuff does start falling. Just think back to this summer of 106 degree temperatures if you need some help!! -Rolf P.S.
