LATEST EVENTS
Welcome to our autumn programme. The music events kick off with Hello Again The Story of Neil Diamond where the Brooklyn Horns and Ascending Strings will be appearing alongside Brooklyn Creed in the lead role. Nashville Live will transport you right into the heart of downtown Nashville taking us through a musical history of country music from Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton through to the Dixie Chicks. We have two nights of the multi-platinum vocal harmony group G4 who will be with us during the week of the Jersey International Air Display including special guests: the hugely talented Georgi Mottram, the JLPA Choir and award-winning Musical Originals. We also see a return visit from Katie Markham - handpicked by Adele herself - who will be recreating the Adele magic in Someone Like You. In contrast, the European Baroque Ensemble, on their 20th Anniversary Tour, will be enchanting us with an evening of Mozart by Candlelight. Look out for the award-winning, great, multi-instrumentalist Courtney Pine CBE and guest soul vocalist Omar. If you want ‘cool’ then Courtney is 2

a trailblazer! Join us for the ultimate Christmas party with Talon and their Greatest Hits Tour celebrating the music of the Eagles in December. Kevin Bridges’ warm up gigs created a buzz in June so I’m delighted to welcome more talented comedians: Canadian Craig Campbell will be here in September as part of his Easy Tiger World Tour followed by “Irish Master of Grumpiness”, Dylan Moran (known for his observational comedy in TV sitcom Black Books); Edinburgh Fringe sell-out Juliette Burton looking at whether small acts of kindness could make a difference to the world in the Butterfly Effect; Mark Watson (cluster-bombed with yoghurt on Taskmaster) will attempt to understand people in The Infinite Show; and Jay Foreman continues to entertain families in sell-out shows with Disgusting Songs for Revolting Kids. We have an eclectic selection of screenings with the Elvis ’68 Comeback Special and Cliff Richard’s 60th Anniversary Tour; The Merry Wives of Windsor and Troilus & Cressida from the Royal Shakespeare Company;
and The Madness of George III and King Lear from the National Theatre. From the MET Opera we are showing Aida and La Fanciulla Del West with gunfights, poker games and stagecoach robbers! Australia’s Handa Opera brings us La Bohème on Sydney Harbour and The Australian Ballet’s The Merry Widow – a lively tale set in the salons of Belle Époque Paris. A Christmas Carol starring Simon Callow will be screened in December – a must for the festive season. Morgan & West, Time Travelling Magicians, bring an unforgettable evening of magic, mystery and the
unexplainable that will help arm you with a few new party tricks. Lovers of dance, who were blown away by the MotonHouse trilogy (Charge, Broken, and Shattered) are sure to want to see Dutch Choreographer, Didy Veldman’s The Knot on Friday 23 November where you are invited to attend a completely different wedding celebration where you - the audience - become the guests. Ritual, doubt, nerves and magic set to Stravinksy’s gorgeous Russian folklore wedding music. Jasmine Hendry Theatre Director
