Step Up to Serve Habitat Quick Fact: Every Habitat Family saves up $2,000 in closing costs and volunteers over 400 hours of “sweat equity” just to qualify for the Habitat program. Each Habitat Family also attends budget classes, home maintenance classes, and is well-prepared for home ownership. Habitat Families are rarely homeless and never impoverished. The program seeks to serve families with stable jobs and income, who want to be homeowners, but fall just short of qualifying for a conventional mortgage. Prayers for Our Habitat Build Please pray for the O’Neal Family, our BUMC volunteers who will begin construction next weekend, and our congregation that we will rise up to meet the fundraising goal with extravagant generosity. Check www.bumc.net/habitat & BUMC Facebook for updates. Habitat Food Helpers Needed Can’t build but would like to help? Morning snacks and lunch are needed. Contact Josie McCamish (jozmc@comcast.net). Thank You for 100% South Africa Sponsorships! People from our congregation have sponsored 122 children at Thembelihle School in Howick, South Africa which is 100% of our goal. Hugh Queener, BUMC member and Thembelihle Board Member, is visiting Howick now to continue exploration of how we can provide systemic assistance to this community -- start-up businesses, education, etc. Great things are coming and thanks be to God for such blessings! Graceworks Food Pantry The food pantry is in urgent need of these specific items: Spaghetti sauce, Crackers, Boxed meals (such as Tuna or Hamburger Helper), Laundry detergent and Liquid dish detergent. Please, bring your donations to the collection bins in the Chapel Narthex or the bin located by the receptionist desk.
