New Sermon Series: Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations Over the next 5 weeks, Martin will lead us in exploring what makes a congregation fruitful and enables a church to thrive. Sunday school classes and other groups will be reading and studying the book “The Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations” during this time. Everyone is encouraged to purchase a copy of the book (available at a 20% discount this weekend and afterwards in the Outpost for full price.)
Stephen Ministry Information Sessions Sunday, August 14 Are you a good listener? Do you have compassion for people who are going through a tough time? If so, God may be calling you to be a Stephen Minister. Stephen Ministers are trained lay persons who give encouragement and support to individuals in crisis. Come to an information session at 8:45 am and 12:15 pm, Sunday, August 14, in the Parlor to find out if this is a good fit for you. BUMC Christmas in July Helps 700 Children Thanks to the generous members of BUMC, this was the most successful Christmas in July school supply drive ever! We were able to help 700 children with a total of 31,830 items. The supplies went to The Boys and Girls Clubs of Franklin and Fairview, Franktown, The Well, Harvest Hands, 61st Ave. church, tornado victims in Alabama, and other Williamson County youth. A huge thank you to everyone for making this school year better for so many children! A Rewarding Volunteer Opportunity for Women: September 18-November 6 Serve as a mentor to an inmate at the TN Prison for Women through Better Decisions, an 8-week program which teaches decision-making skills. Commitment: attend volunteer training weekend September 10-11, meet with your inmate partner for one hour weekly, and attend graduation (November 14).
