THE BEAM February 10 -16, 2013

LIVING like Jesus, bringing JOY to God

Lent Begins with Ash Wednesday Worship February 13, 6:30 pm Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent and is a great time to focus on how we can live like Jesus and bring joy to God. Ashes from the palms from last year’s Palm Sunday are blessed and used to mark the forehead of each worshiper. Childcare for children 3 and under. You may order an Easter Lily to honor a loved one beginning February 17.

The Places that Matter

A Journey with Jesus toward Easter During worship this Lent, join us on a journey to some of the significant places in Jesus’ life – the River Jordan, the wilderness, the Pool of Bethesda, the Mount of Olives & the Temple, the Upper Room, and the Empty Tomb. Discover in these places the issues that mattered to Jesus– and how these A Journey with Jesus toward Easter issues matter to us as well. Staff Transitions Rev. Travis Garner, Director of Student Ministry at BUMC, is moving into the role of Pastor of Discipleship in which he will lead our children, youth and adult ministries. Travis has been a part of our Student Ministry leadership for the past eight and a half years, and in that time we have seen the ministry grow numerically and in disciple-making. As a result of Travis’ transition, Lindsay Brooks will move into the role of Director of Student Ministry. Lindsay has been serving in that ministry for 4.5 years, including the last 2.5 years in the role of Associate Director. Let’s join together in praying for Travis and Lindsay as they continue to follow God’s call upon their life, as they step into new roles of leadership here at BUMC.
