Dear Church Dear Church Family, This weekend we will celebrate All Saints Day. This is one of the most "high and holy" days of the entire Christian year, so I hope you will make every effort to join your church family for worship. Remember to set your clocks back one hour before bedtime, or you will get to church an hour too early! I don't know about you, but November 6th cannot come soon enough for me. I'm weary of all the bitter partisan campaigns being waged. The good news is that we belong to a community of faith that transcends political parties and partisan politics. To help celebrate that truth, our church is going to celebrate an Election Day Holy Communion service on Tuesday, November 6th at 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. These services will remind us that regardless of our politics, we are all part of the body of Christ and unified in our common faith. Not only will we observe Communion, we will also pray for our elected leaders, whoever they turn out to be. I hope you will join us for one of these special times of worship, and that you will invite your friends to come with you. If you missed last weekend, and would like to fill out a "Real Life Ahead" commitment card on faith sharing, please click here. Finally, it was good to receive Jason Wisner, Corrine Fae McArdle and Harley and Becky Lappin as new members. Welcome to our church family.

P.S. Given the serious storm bearing down on so many people along the eastern coast, I've asked Mike Dennison, our Director of Missions and Outreach, to share some ways that we can be of assistance. We will be collecting items over the next week to send directly to some of the harder hit areas affected by Hurricane Sandy, including; Flood buckets (click here for contents and assembly), D size batteries, and cases of bottled water. We also need volunteers to collect and organize the supplies during this time period. In addition, we will be taking a special Communion offering this Sunday for this cause. Please know also that our United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is poised to assist all who are hurt by this hurricane. You can support UMCOR in this important work by writing a check to BUMC and marking it "Hurricane Sandy Relief". Many if us have families in the affected areas. Please keep each and every soul in your prayers. The power of prayer may be the best tool we bring to this impending crisis. For any questions please contact me @ 324-7222 or Maya Broaden-Knighten @ 324-8211. ~ Mike Dennison In Christ's Love and Service,

Martin
