Dear Church Family, This weekend, at all four worship services, we will begin an important fall emphasis called "Real Life Ahead: Fully Alive in Christ." We'll be exploring how we can have a "real" and full life as disciples of Jesus Christ. Our theme text is John 10:10 where Jesus said, "I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of." (The Message) We experience this real life by engaging in life enriching spiritual practices that draw us closer to God. This "Real Life Ahead" emphasis is going to be an important time in the life of BUMC, so I hope you will make a commitment to join us throughout this journey. I know it's football season, which means significantly decreased worship attendance throughout Middle Tennessee churches, including BUMC. But with a 6 p.m. Saturday evening service, and three Sunday worship services at 8:30, 9:50 and 11:00, nobody has to choose between the worship of God and supporting the Vols or Titans or your favorite team. As we begin this journey, we are trying to access the current spiritual vitality of our congregation. To help us in that endeavor, we would deeply appreciate you taking a very brief ANONYMOUS survey. It only takes three minutes to complete. If you are willing to take this anonymous survey, please click here.

We are currently raising funds for the birth of a new hospital for women and children in Honduras. For many years, BUMC has partnered with "Hands of Christ" to provide much needed medical care for people in Honduras. I recently returned from a medical team mission trip in Honduras and saw, first hand, the overwhelming medical care needs in that land. Other churches and individuals are joining together to make this vision a reality. And, a person in our congregation is matching our gifts up to $50,000. So, if we raise $50,000 for this project, we will actually raise $100,000. Of course, this is a "second mile" offering, over and above our regular offering. I hope you will give prayerful consideration to being a part of this ministry. For more information about this project, click here. Finally, it was good to receive Bill Fritz; Andrew and Cannon Frankenberg; and Evelyn Woodcock as new members. Welcome to our church family. In Christ's Love and Service,

Martin
