Ways to Step Up in May Step Up! 2012 is our year-long emphasis of five core practices – worship, connect, invite, serve and give -- that lead to a stronger faith and a more vibrant church. See below for specific things you can do this month to Step Up in your faith.

Nexus Chamber Orchestra Chapel Series Concert - The Atlantic Trio Sunday, May 20, 4:00 pm, Chapel Invite a friend to join you for the fabulous chamber music of the Atlantic Trio. Fresh off their concert tour of France, the Nashville community can enjoy the same concert that wowed French audiences just the week before.

Step Up to Serve in the church and/or community Teach a summer Sunday Summer children’s Sunday school teachers urgently needed. No preparation needed and you need only commit to one Sunday. Everything will be provided (see page 3). Be a Barnabus friend for a college student Help a college freshman stay grounded and connected to their faith by writing notes and praying for them throughout the year. (see page 2). Spread joy to home-centered members by being an altar flower volunteer (see page 3).

Many Thanks • to our community partner Brentwood Cleaners for donating cleaning services for all the sheets and towels used for Room in the Inn this past season • to BUMC members for stepping up to the URGENT need at Graceworks food pantry. A total of 255 items were delivered to Graceworks this past week to help numerous residents in the Williamson County area. • to the BUMC 3rd grade Sunday school classes for sorting and checking the dates on all of the food items recently donated to Graceworks Food Pantry. Run for Africa May 19, 1st and Broadway, DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE, $15 entry fee includes 5K race, t-shirt, admission to the Family Fun area and parking. This 8th annual family-focused event will include a certified 5K Race, Kids’ 1-Mile Fun Run, games, food, and African dancing and drumming. Raises funds for African childrens’ education. Teach a Summer Sunday Give a regular children’s Sunday School teacher a break and teach one Sunday during the summer from May 27-August 5. Everything you need is provided in one box and you only need to arrive 15-20 minutes early. Even if you are “intimidated” by teaching Sunday school you will be able to handle this curriculum.
