Step Up to WorshiP Real Life Ahead: Fully Alive in Christ - Weekends through November 18 This week you will receive a Financial and Serving Opportunities packet in the mail. Please prayerfully consider what your financial and serving commitments will be for 2013 and then complete your commitment cards as soon as possible. You may return your cards several ways: during worship anytime in the next two weeks; in the mail using the return envelope provided in your letter; or on-line at www.bumc.net/giving. A vibrant, growing congregation depends on the generosity of its members and friends to thrive!

Step Up to giVe Generously to God’s Work Six Ways that You Can Help those Affected by Hurricane Sandy 1) Give to today’s special Communion offering that will go to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). They are poised to assist those hurt by this hurricane. Make checks payable to BUMC with the memo of “Hurricane Sandy Relief.” 2) Take and fill one of the 200 flood buckets in the Narthex. A list of items is provided. Bring filled buckets back by Friday, November 9. 3) Donate D-Cell batteries. Bring to Narthex by Friday, November 9. 4) Donate cases of bottled water. Bring to Narthex by Friday, November 9. 5) Following today’s service, stop by the table in the Narthex to help organize and collect supplies that come in today. 6) Hold those effected by this storm in your prayers. Step Up to Connect Part-time Paid Positions Available Maintenance Department: BUMC has a great opportunity for someone with a flexible evening and weekend schedule. Nexxus Chamber Concerts Taking a Break The Nexus Chamber Orchestra concert series will NOT be holding a program on November 18, as would be its typical third Sunday of the month tradition at 4 pm in the BUMC Chapel. Be looking for future updates for upcoming Nexus concerts in 2013 in the BEAM or at www.nexuschamberorchestra.org. BUMC’s JoySound Orchestra: Rehearsals in B163, Sundays, 3:45 – 5:00 pm. 6th grade through youth, adults and college students. Step Up to Serve Graceworks Food Pantry is in urgent need of FUEL bags, which provide nutritious food on weekends to students receiving free/reduced lunch. ITEMS NEEDED: (Individual Serving Sizes only) 8 oz. shelf stable boxed milk (Horizon, Hershey, Natrel), cereal, Tuna/ chicken with crackers, microwavable meals (macaroni & cheese, spaghetti and meat, etc.), snacks including cheese 4 oz. canned fruit cups, pudding cups and a salty snack. Donation bins in Chapel Narthex. Bethlehem Center Senior Food Bag Collection Sunday, November 11, Narthex. Our goal: 100 food bags for the Bethlehem Center’s Senior Thanksgiving Luncheon (November 15). To make things easy, go across the street to Kroger, grab one of the prepacked bags, and pay at the register. Then bring it back to the Red Truck in our parking lot. Serving Team members will be on hand so you won’t even have to get out of the car! Cost is around $15. If Kroger no longer has pre-packed bags, grab a list, fill a bag, bring it back to BUMC and we will deliver those to GraceWorks. 2012 Turkey Trot, Thanksgiving Day Held at D1 Sports Training in Franklin, November 22. Benefits Graceworks Ministries. This annual family-focused event includes a certified 5K Walk/ Run and Kid’s Fun Run. BUMC group rate: $20/person ages 7 & older and $10 per child age 6 & under. Register at www.bumc.net thru November 12. Room in the Inn, a ministry to homeless men, will begin in November. Donations of Mens only blue jeans in good condition, warm coats, sweaters, and NEW socks and underwear are needed. Donation bins located in Chapel Narthex. Sponsor a child at one of our partner schools in South Africa -- Thembelihle School or Brentwood Society Preschool Just $400 a year for Thembelihle or $250 for Brentwood Society can help make the difference between a future of poverty or well-being.
