THANK YOU FROM MISSIONS & OUTREACH Thank you to everyone who donated items to the Louisiana flood disaster response. We collected 25 – 50 of each item requested by UMCOR, including rakes, box fans, garden sprayers, flat-bill shovels and extension cords. Those items were delivered by the Tennessee Conference to aid early responders in the cleanup efforts happening across Louisiana. Please continue to keep our brothers and sisters affected by the floods in your prayers. Contact Rev. David Ssebulime at dssebulime@bumc.net to learn more about the collection.

LOVE IN DEED www.bumc.net/LoveInDeed Saturday, October 15, 9 am, locations vary Love in Deed is a new initiative to send our congregation on a day of service. More than 800 people will serve with Open Table Nashville, Thriftsmart, Rocketown, Stop Hunger Now and UMCOR in a variety of ways that impact our community. The goals of the projects are to empower 50 homeless people, impact 500 local youth, train 100 people in disaster response, and provide 100,000 meals and 20,000 pounds of clothes and household items. Contact Jennifer at jhite@bumc.net or visit www.bumc.net/LoveInDeed to learn more. Love In Deed Ministry Highlight: UMCOR Disaster Response & Open Table Nashville UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on its own. Through UMCOR, United Methodists extend loving care to people in the United States, Africa, Asia, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. In its holistic response to disasters, UMCOR offers disaster preparedness training, provides essential supplies and care – both physical and psychological – in the immediate aftermath of a disaster, and supports long-term rebuilding efforts and assists communities as they adapt. Open Table Nashville is a non-profit, interfaith community that disrupts cycles of poverty, journeys with the marginalized, and provides education about issues of homelessness. OTN is one of the leaders of How’s Nashville, a communitywide and collaborative effort to end chronic homelessness in Nashville, and provides families and individuals with the things they will need for their new homes.
