ASSOCIATION

A Huge Corte Bella Welcome to Pamela Lawrence You may have heard by now that Corte Bella has hired a Lifestyle Manager. This was recommended to the Board about eight months ago after an ongoing search to find another volunteer Events Coordinator fell short. It then became apparent that something needed to be done. The Board then approved the paid Mike Arrington, Corte Bella Country Club Association, Inc. General Manager lifestyle position and the search began. I have since found and hired a highly respected professional named Pamela Lawrence. Pamela comes to us from almost ten years of service at Trilogy at La Quinta in California but she is from Phoenix and she wanted to return to be near her family. Although I believe that the job done over the past years by volunteer Events Coordinators was nothing short of a miracle, Pamela is a professional with years of experience and is expected to really grow the activity or lifestyle side of Corte Bella but most importantly, she will provide continuity which has not existed in the past. Corte Bella cannot go eight months without someone in that role without suffering to some degree. It is important that this need is fulfilled and that consistent, quality activity and entertainment is available to our residents all of the time rather than only when a volunteer is willing to step up and make a sacrifice. Don’t get me wrong, huge sacrifices have been made by residents in the name of lifestyle over the years and I appreciate and respect each individual effort, even the ones when I was not here. There have been many. I have done this job long enough

8 | CB Times | The Official Community Magazine of Corte Bella

to know what kind of effort is required to pull this off and it does require great sacrifice. The part that I have always appreciated the most is that many of the volunteers willing to commit to this really enjoy devoting time and effort for the benefit of others. That is a beautiful thing and very unselfish.

You should know that the volunteer force is just as important as ever. No one can succeed without the support of a strong volunteer Pam Lawrence staff and I am certain that Pamela would agree with me that her most important function and ingredient for success will be to employ and develop the Corte Bella force of volunteers. I believe that if you are a volunteer and want to continue in your current role, you will be welcomed and appreciated. So will the newly interested. Although Pamela will be accountable, I am certain she will also be gracious, welcoming and provide beneficial and effective guidance to all of those interested in helping to make the Lifestyle program a success at Corte Bella. In summary, I just want to say a giant THANK YOU to all of you who have made Corte Bella lifestyle work over the years. You have been incredible. Lastly, I am so excited to introduce Pamela to you as another member of the staff that can’t wait to serve you as a Corte Bella resident and our client. I am confident that the community will benefit greatly from this partnership and that she will serve you well for a long time. Please join me in welcoming Pamela home and to Corte Bella.

Board Talk

The long hot summer is almost over and although Board meetings were suspended in July and August, work continued to be conducted and matters addressed and resolved. The next workshop is Friday, 9/23 at 9:00 am and the Board meeting is Wednesday, 9/28 at 10:00 am. All residents are welcome and encouraged to attend. The Finance Committee’s recommendations for the 2017 Budget were presented and approved by the Board at the June meeting. The budget will be presented to the community for discussion at the October meeting. All Board liaison positions have been filled and most committees met throughout the summer. Michael McVeigh, President, Board of Directors

Committee meetings, open to all residents, are announced by email and posted on the Corte Bella website. Try to attend as many as possible so you are informed of current projects and activities that affect us all. You may discover an interest in serving on a committee or sub-committee, or perhaps serving on the Board in 2017, when four vacancies will occur. If interested, please contact me – I would be happy to discuss Board opportunities with you. I had an opportunity to participate in the Welcome to New Residents event on July 14th with 35 new neighbors. The common theme that many shared reminded me of how Lynne and I felt over 10 years ago when we first drove past the fountains through

the front gates and had lunch at the Anacapa the Corte Bella WOW Factor. Thanks to our Welcome Committee team, Chef Dan and Fred. The event was a great success. Corte Bella’s new Life Style Manager, Pam Lawrence, was introduced to the community on July 27th at a special meeting hosted by General Manager, Mike Arrington. Pam brings many years of solid experience (and tons of energy!) to achieve her goals of providing us with many new and exciting events. As Pam stated, “My goal is to take Corte Bella events to the next level.” Her enthusiasm will be contagious throughout Corte Bella. Volunteers will be part of Pam’s success, providing any support she may need. Stop by her office in the Fitness Center to meet her and share your ideas. The Labor Day celebration is just a few days away and I hope to see many new faces. Consider wearing patriotic colors and enjoy Corte Bella’s patriotism, the delicious food and dance the night away. Thanks to Larry Leighton for again taking the lead on this and other events that, otherwise, would not have happened. Your thoughts, opinions and concerns are very important to me as your Board President. Contact me, at any time, at mmcveigh3@ cox.net/623-433-9921.

Event Tickets: The Changes You Requested Paula Coudright You have spoken and we have heard you! We have received a lot of feedback regarding selling event tickets on Sundays and decided to move the date and time that tickets go on sale. You can purchase tickets using one of three methods of payment: charge to your HOA account, check or cash (exact change). After the initial ticket sale date, you can

Tacoma Glazed Salmon

As we transition into early fall, this recipe is a favorite of Corte Bella residents. Our Black Cherry glaze is made out of black cherries from the state of Washington. We use the city name of Tacoma to signify that relationship. Enjoy the cooler weather and welcome to Fall!

Tacoma Glazed Salmon

Executive Chef Dan Haywood Anacapa Restaurant

Ingredients: • 2 - 6 oz. Salmon filets • 1 oz. oil Method: 1. In a hot saucepan, add 1 oz of oil and sear the salmon for 3-4 minutes on each side, or if grilling, brush the salmon lightly with oil, grill 4-5 minutes on each size, turning gently. Too much oil will cause the grill to flame up. 2. Spoon about 1 oz of cherry sauce over each fillet and let rest to lightly heat the sauce. 3. Should be served immediately with your favorite side dishes.

Tacoma Cherry Horseradish Sauce Ingredients: • 1 12 oz. jar black cherry preserves • 1 oz. Dijon mustard • 1 oz. prepared horseradish • 1 oz. soy sauce Method: Mix all ingredients in a blender. Puree until smooth.

Anacapa Anniversary Experience Arnold and Lois Solars On July 20th, my wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the Anacapa restaurant in Corte Bella. Fred Hernandez prepared Steak Diane and Bananas Foster at our table. The meal was fantastic and beyond our wildest expectations. I don’t think any of the “fancy” restaurants in the Valley of the Sun could match the quality of the meal

Bananas Foster

and the outstanding service that we received. I encourage you to try this excellent dining experience. Please give Fred 48 hour notice so he can order the meal for you. Ask Fred about the other fine desserts that he can prepare. Thanks also to Chef Dan and the outstanding Anacapa staff for making this experience one to remember. Do you know that the Anacapa features many gluten free entrees and salads? If you have any special dietary needs check with Fred Hernandez. Enjoy our fantastic restaurant within our community.

Be Prepared…Get Registered! Steve DeBoer, Neighborhood and Safety Awareness Committee Maricopa County offers its residents an emergency preparedness system called CENS. CENS (Community Emergency Notification System) is a countywide emergency alert system for residents. Sometimes called “reverse 911”, “Auto Dial Emergency Contact System” or “reverse dialing” the system is designed to call residents who have registered their phone numbers when an emergency exists in the resident’s area of the county. Who gets called is based on the address provided by the resident when they register. The system rapidly notifies residents in the area of an emergency with a prerecorded message via the residents registered phone number. Residents can register up to three phones. The system works with Cell phones and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) systems. According to the person I spoke with at the Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management, the system is not designed to work with standard land lines, such as those provided by local phone companies. CENS can be used by all law enforcement and fire agencies within the Maricopa county region from Wickenburg to Apache Junction. Each notification is unique based on who is handling the emergency. When you receive a call from CENS the caller I.D. says “REVERSE911CALL” and will have a 480 area code. The system is able to leave a message on voice-mail or an answering machine. If the phone is busy when the call is placed; the system will wait 5 minutes before it tries to call a second time. For those who are hearing impaired the system supports TTY/TDD (Teletypewriter/ Telecommunication Devices for the Deaf). A couple of other things from the website’s frequently asked questions list:

link has also been posted to the Corte Bella website for your convenience. To find it go to the Corte Bella home page click on the “Services” tab, then click “Local Links” then click “Neighborhood Links” and it will be listed under “State and Local Governments” as “Maricopa Department of Emergency

Management”. Please note during testing some residents needed to refresh the website to gain access. http://www.maricopa.gov/emerg_mgt/ CENS.aspx Staying informed is a good first step in staying safe.

Save A Life…Donate Today. You CAN Make A Difference! Bonnie Revelle That is for our furry friends at Sun Valley Animal Shelter. There is a fundraiser for the Sun Valley Animal Shelter starting August 1 and culminating in a “Dog-on Mah Jongg” event to be held on Monday, October 3 at Anacapa Restaurant from 12:304:00. Sun Valley Animal Shelter is a no-kill and non-profit animal shelter. The organization was incorporated under the name of Sun Cities Animal Rescue in 1991 by its Founders, Karin Brittin and Virginia Hall of Sun City. They started in their homes rescuing lost cats and finding homes for them. The group expanded to include both dogs and cats that had been lost or abandoned. In 1995, with the help of many volunteers, and a Sun City bank willing to extend them two loans, they completed their current building located in Glendale to house approximately 70 dogs and 70 cats at any one time. The shelter finds homes for over 1000 dogs and cats every year. In 1997 they changed their name to Sun Valley Animal Shelter. They do not receive any federal or state funding. They rely on over 70% of their funding from the generosity of the public.

Corte Bella Adventure Group Steve Downing As we wait for cooler weather and our northern friends to return, we did manage to sneak in a June, Northern Arizona Hike. Many of you have heard of Walnut Canyon National Monument south of I40 East of Flagstaff. We hiked into the southern end of Walnut Canyon via Sandy’s Canyon. Highlights of this hike were the old lava fields, the lush canyon floor and caves we found along the side of the canyon walls.

each presenting a different target. Some clays are going away from you, some toward you, left to right or at one station, or rolling on the ground. Men and women alike will enjoy this event. Shotguns can be rented at the range or borrowed.

Sandy Canyon Trail

Jeff Ablin and Melceina Wright along the trail Our schedule for the 2016-2017 season is taking shape with many of the old favorites; Woodchute Trail in the Prescott National Forest, Bell Trail along Wet Beaver Creek, and Sedona’s gorgeous Boynton Canyon Trail to name a few. We will be doing our traditional Thanksgiving Hike at Vulture Peak in Wickenburg, and our Christmas Season hike to Camelback Mountain to visit Santa. We are rewarded by a decorated Christmas Tree and a candy cane for making it to the summit. One of the new hikes this year is Parsons Spring Trail along Sycamore Creek. It’s about a ten mile ride down a dirt road with some nice swimming holes along the trail. Other new events will be the Clay Target Center at the Ben Avery Shooting Range. This is nicknamed shotgun golf as you move along different stations,

We are also working on a hot air balloon ride for those brave enough to partake. Details on this event will be announced early fall. The horse ride up at Spur Cross last year was a big hit, so we will make sure that happens again this season. Bike rides along the rivers and canals are already planned with the longest being our ride to the Arizona Biltmore for brunch. Our hiking season finale next April will be a guided kayak tour down the Colorado River from Hoover Dam to Willow Beach. This looks to be an exciting trip down the flat-water of the river with stops along the way at hot springs and caves we can paddle into with emerald green water. There is no cost to sign up for the Corte Bella Adventure Group and you have the option to only attend the events you have an interest in participating. We now have over 70 volunteers throughout the Phoenix region—52 are Corte Bella residents who sew bright, colorful, kid friendly pillowcases for the patients at: • Phoenix Children’s • Banner Cardon Children’s • Banner Children’s at Thunderbird Medical Center. Gloria Bommarito, Debby Doyle, JoAnn Shaw, Harriet Kessler and patient Chris. He does not have a family and we have all “adopted” him.

In addition to our whimsical pillowcases, we have partnered nationally with pediatric stress researchers to provide information, activities and tools to help patients and families make sense of the many different emotions, feelings and reactions they experience with a cancer diagnosis. The resource information we provide with each pillowcase delivered provides helpful tips for taking care of the patient and the parents--both in the hospital and after they return home. Recent research indicates that 20% of children hospitalized with cancer and 30% of their mothers suffer full symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Walter with his family

Our Chapter goal for the Miles of Pillowcase Smiles is 3,000! We can do it—last

It truly takes a “village” to sew and deliver 575 pillowcases every month. As we gear up for the September MOPS challenge, we are thrilled to be partnering with Kohl’s Associates in Action who will help us sew, Sewin Asylum, Scottsdale Quilts, A Quilters Oasis, various quilt guilds and so many other groups who want to help us achieve or EXCEED our 3,000 goal for September. This amazing group of volunteers demonstrates the value of “service to others” on a daily basis. It is not just sewing a pillowcase but also the unwavering support they provide to young patients WITHOUT families. As one 20 year old patient with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) said recently, “I am the luckiest patient in the hospital. I have over 70 woman who love and support me in their actions and their deeds and I can never repay the many kindnesses. I am no longer fighting the fight of my life by myself. I am so grateful.” Harriet Kessler, CB resident, with Braydon and his Mom

Debby Doyle and Harriet Kessler, CB residents, with patient

And as always, the inspiration behind what we do is Ryan Kerr. Although Ryan is no longer with us, his legacy lives on as Ryan’s Case for Smiles and we honor his request to keep sewing until there are no children diagnosed with cancer!

Next up: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Light the Night Walk on Nov 5. We will walk for Ryan and all those children and friends and family with cancer. Watch for additional information in October. Thank you to ALL of the amazing volunteers who are making such a profound impact on children and families in our region. YOU CAN HELP! HERE’S HOW: Sew a pillowcase with our group or individually • Donate new kid friendly fabric • Donate money to purchase fabric • Volunteer to help sew, cut, iron, fold, pack, sort and prepare for monthly hospital deliveries Our CB group sewing sessions are listed in the CB Times or you can email me at: Cases4smilesaz@outlook.comq

Summer Fun in Corte Bella Linda Wright Patriotic Walk Around the Circle On the morning of July 4, 2016 – Independence Day – between 60 to 70 Corte Bella residents participated in an early morning tribute to the 240th birthday of the United States of America. The “circle walkers” and those who followed along in golf carts joined together at the walk’s end to enjoy a light breakfast prepared by the Anacapa. Everyone enjoyed the venue and this unique way of celebrating our nation’s birthday. Thank you to the Corte Bella Vets Club for organizing and facilitating this event.

More than 150 Corte Bella residents braved the heat on July 10th and gathered in the Santa Barbara Room to enjoy a cool treat at the HOA’s Ice Cream Social event. It was a wonderful opportunity to visit with neighbors and friends while enjoying ice cream with all the fixings. Those hearty Corte Bella residents who braved the extreme summer weather felt much rewarded. Thank you to the Corte Bella HOA and the volunteers who worked on this event. community job training workshops. Each homeless veteran has an individual plan and 89% of vets succeed in getting out of homelessness.

The highlight of the July 12, 2016 meeting of the Corte Bella Vets was a very interesting presentation by Dr. Christeen Verchot, LTCOL, USAF, RET. Dr. Verchot is the director of the James Walton Home, a transitional home for homeless veterans operated by Project Veterans Pride, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 2011.

When you donate to the James Walton Home - Project Veterans Pride (PVP), the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit allows you to receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on your AZ state income tax return. You can receive up to a $400 state tax credit with a married filing jointly return or up to a $200 credit when filing as a single taxpayer.

The James Walton Home, which can house up up 18 veterans, offers a comprehensive 30/60/90 day program which focuses on healthy lifestyle management. It is run like a hospital--there are rules and regulations. Neither drugs nor alcohol are permitted. Services provided include: transitional rapid emergency housing, nutritional meals, counseling and case management, and

The mission of the Corte Bella Vets is “To foster camaraderie among veterans of the United States and her Allies, to undertake charitable other projects on a state and local level, to promote patriotism, and most importantly, to provide service to all Veterans and their families.”

COMMUNITY

Bits ‘n’ Bytes – Community Documents and Online Forms Dave Wright, CB Web Support Team Corte Bella has been around for a number of years now and during this time the Home Owners Association (HOA) has amassed a considerable amount of official meeting minutes, policies, regulations, and other kinds of pertinent information. As a service to residents, the HOA maintains these files electronically on the Corte Bella website under the HOA main menu item. The documents are organized under twelve major headings within the Resource Center (see image below.)

water issue currently before the Arizona Corporation Commission under the Government Affairs Committee folder. Another folder of interest is the Governing Documents folder. It contains Bylaws, Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions (CC&Rs), Board Policies and Board Resolutions. The Resource Center (the name of the location where all community documents are stored on the website) also contains copies of every issue of the CB Times monthly magazine. All files in the Resource Center can be either viewed online or downloaded to your personal device. The second selection under the HOA main menu option is HOA Forms.

Under the Committees folder you will find minutes of all committee meetings as well as any other documents that various committees have executed. For example, you will find a complete list of design standards under the Architectural Review Committee (ARC). You will find all documents pertaining to the This is where you can find forms for ARC submittal requests, ticket requests for HOA events, classified ads, guest approval and liability waivers for the Fitness Center and Pool, and many others. Some, like the tickets request and the guest forms, can be printed out and filled out before you take them to the Fitness Center for action, saving time for both yourself and the Fitness Center personnel. You’ll even find a feedback form to let us know how we’re doing with the website or how we can improve the service. This concludes the 10-article series on the Corte Bella website. We hope you have found the articles interesting, informative, and useful. All comments and feedback are, as always, welcome. You can send your comments to communication@cortebellacca.com or use the feedback form on the website. Thanks for reading.

Corte Bella Vets David Beams The May 10th, 2016 meeting of the Corte Bella Vets was privileged to have two terrific speakers. Vietnam veteran John Blem spoke about his work with eThos Ministries. Although he survived the war, he lost two of his best friends, which caused him guilt feelings that he had survived and his buddies had not. He has been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for four decades. His book, Death Angel, explains his journey to find peace through his faith in God. His ministry seeks to help soldiers and their family members reconnect with society. The eThos Ministries has groups in Phoenix, Show Low and Prescott Valley. The VA is unable to support soldiers with a “faith in God” program, so he gets referrals from them and other organizations that hear his story. The second speaker was Sahika Riley, founder of the Horse Rhythm Foundation. She knew from her own experience with cancer that animal-human bonding is very special and can be part of the healing process for veterans and first responders who

Corte Bella Vets Partner with Panda Express Larry Leighton On June 10, 2016, Corte Bella Vets set up their canopy next to the drive-through entrance to the Happy Valley-Lake Pleasant Panda Express Restaurant to hand out “Donation Coupons.” Panda Express supports many charitable organizations by donating 20% of each customer’s bill to the charity being supported. There is no cost or discount to the customer. Corte Bella Vets handed out donation coupons which when turned in to the restaurant on the specified day results in a donation directly from Panda Express. This year Panda Express donated $585.08, or 20% of $2765.41 which was spent by 212 people. In addition to this donation, Corte Bella Vets volunteers collected an additional $83.45 from customers and other folks just passing by. On July 7, 2016, Tom Asmussen presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the Corte Bella Vets to Scott Ives, the Panda Express Restaurant Manager and some of his staff. Scott’s supervisor, Fernando Lopez was also in attendance. Both Scott and Fernando are Veterans of Iraqi Freedom ( OIF ) II.

Her PhD research details the improved electroencephalography (EEG) results after PTSD sufferers interacted with the horses. Many of the participants were able to eliminate drug therapy. Both organizations were presented with generous checks from the Corte Bella Vets. The mission of the Corte Bella Vets is to “Foster patriotism and good will toward the military community within Corte Bella and support deserving military oriented charities.”

HEALTH & FITNESS

Tennis Organizers: Creative Genius Jerry Tinsley Benjamin Franklin may have been the first to say, “If you want to get something done, ask a busy person to do it.” Some of the busiest people in Corte Bella have, for many years, taken on the task of organizing tennis matches several times each week. Organizing tennis means first, ensuring courts are available on the Corte Bella tennis on-line reservation site. With only five tennis courts for the 80 Corte Bella players, the court reservation system was initiated in 2010 to allow fair playing time for all. Secondly, organizers strive to place four players of near equal ability (3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and above) on each court. This involves many emails, texts, frantic phone calls (some at 6 a.m.), injury updates, last minute substitutions, etc. Third, it sometimes means soothing feelings of those left out, as everyone cannot always be squeezed into early morning prime time tennis on our five courts. Ken Egide has been organizing the early morning drop-in group since 2005 three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Ken and Rita bought their home in Corte Bella in 2003 and moved here full-time from Northern California in 2005. Ken was an original member of the Tennis Committee which framed the charter for the Corte Bella Tennis Club. He is very active in Catholic Church activities, and has made annual mission

awareness trips to El Salvador, Guatemala and India for the past several years. Rita, a CPA, is well-known in Corte Bella for her detailed work on the finance committee for many years. Ann Paulson organizes the Ladies 4.0 group on Tuesday mornings ensuring all the best lady players have equitable matches. She first organized this popular group which utilizes all five Corte Bella courts in 2007. She has also been a tennis team captain in the past. Ann and her husband, Wendell, moved from Irving, California to Corte Bella in 2006. She is very active in the bridge community and has been a docent at the West Valley Art Museum. She learned organization skills early in her marriage as the mother of four children. She and Wendell have five grandchildren and have been married 56 years. Don Schneider, a retired pilot from United Airlines, plays both tennis and pickleball at a tournament level. He has been responsible for top level men’s play on Thursdays in Corte Bella since 2006. He plays in various competitive tennis and pickleball groups around the West Valley and is a past captain of the Corte Bella Men’s 4.0 team. He and Linda moved to Corte Bella in 2005 from Utah. Robin Culley works full time at Bob’s Variety Store, yet she has found time to organize the Saturday morning women’s tennis group since 2007. She and Dave enjoy frequent travel and are found at the fitness center several evenings a week. They moved to Corte Bella in 2006 from Tucson, but call Southern California home. Jerry Tinsley (that’s me) has organized the men’s Saturday morning group on court five since 2008 when it began as a team practice for 4.0 men. He has also given tennis lessons at Corte Bella, facilitates Open Bridge on Thursdays, and works part-time for Donor Network of Arizona. He and Stephanie moved to Corte Bella from Overland Park, Kansas in 2007. Dave Culley has organized Wednesday night men’s tennis for the past 6 years, and often has also organized the Saturday morning men’s group in my frequent absences. Dave works full-time as a computer programmer and he and Robin also enjoy square dancing. The person who does almost everything for Corte Bella, Jolene Piaskowski, has organized the Thursday-Saturday morning mixed doubles tennis group since 2012, taking over for Roy Howell who began the group in 2009. Jolene is a past president of the tennis club, initiated the tennis court on-line reservation system, presided over the building of the Lanai, teaches arts and crafts, and was the Corte Bella Events Coordinator from October 2013 to October 2015. She is a whirling dervish of energy. She and Joel moved to Corte Bella in 2007 from Omaha, Nebraska. They have two married daughters and three grandchildren. Several other tennis enthusiasts have organized evening groups and Sunday morning mixed doubles groups which are no longer current. We honor all these creative geniuses whose organizational skills and fortitude have passed the test of time in Corte Bella.

Patriotic Lady Putters Diane Kingsley Lady Putters meet every Monday to putt 18 holes on the large practice green at the Corte Bella Golf Club. July 4th fell on a Monday this year. To help celebrate this special day for America, we decided to show our patriotism by replacing our usual uniform with red, white & blue attire. Everyone got into the spirit and some of our Putters sported hand-made accessories. This is just one example of how we find ways to make putting fun. You don’t have to be a golfer to join Lady Putters, but if you are, this may help you improve your putting on the course. If you are interested in finding out more about Lady Putters, you can check us out on the Corte Bella website (www.cortebella.net) under Clubs/Interest Groups…or you can call Diane Kingsley, President of Lady Putters at 623-234-8505.

The Lady Putters with patriotic attire.

Hello Corte Bella Residents Debbie Parks –Dube’ My name is Debbie Parks –Dube’. I am the new Membership Coordinator at Corte Bella Golf Club. I have been at the club since April and I have really enjoyed getting to know so many wonderful people that reside in the community. Since I am a sucker for dogs I love to see all of the active people out walking their dogs when the weather is nice. We have had a hot summer with too many 110 degree plus days already. The recent rain has been a nice change and has been great for the golf course. I am looking forward to the return of cooler temperatures. We have a great group of people that make up our membership here at the Golf Club. Our WGA 18 hole group plays on Tuesdays, our MGA group plays on Wednesdays and our WGA 9 hole group plays on Thursdays. We have some really special members helping our club with our league play. We also have the Lady Corte Bella Putters. This fun group is made up of both members and Corte Bella residents that come on Monday mornings and have a great time enjoying putting competitions. We have some exciting events coming up in September: • Mercedes-Benz of Arrowhead Tournament: September 17 • MGA Summer Member/Member: September 9th and 10th • Patriot Golf Day: September 11. Corte Bella Is a proud sponsor of Patriot Golf Day. If you are interested in playing or donating please call the golf shop at 623-474-3610. You can also donate at patriotgolfday.org or foldsofhonor.org • WGA Summer Member/Member: September 12th and 13th

We overseed the golf course October 3rd through October 20th. We will open back up on October 21st for our busy season when many of our members who have been away for the summer start coming back into town. If any of you are not interested in golf, you’re still more than welcome to come and visit us at the club. We have great coffee and a restaurant that is open for lunch, cocktails, popcorn and television watching that can amount to a fun day! I look forward to seeing you around the club.
