Covid-19 Behind the Scenes During this national health crisis, we’ve all had to learn how to live our lives differently. Six months in the pandemic, things feel surreal and profound at times. Never before have we seen anything like this in our lifetime and everyone has been affected to some degree. For the Corte Bella HOA staff, we’ve learned how to get

Mike Arrington, General Manager

our ability under this new reality. Rest assured that all of our staff members are dedicated to providing the safest and most enjoyable experience possible for you and your guests given the restrictions and guidelines in place. All of us, right down to each person, are looking forward to seeing you together again and returning to a more normal social lifestyle for Corte Bella residents. We miss you and wish you the best during these unusual times. Take good care of yourselves and each other. We shall see you soon and we look forward to serving you.

the job done regardless. Employees are subjected to new operating methods, safety measures and health checks each day in order to protect fellow staff and you, the residents we serve. As a staff member, it is mandatory that we wear a mask when indoors or unable to social distance outdoors. Staff members’ temperature readings are taken at least daily on arrival and they are screened at that same time for any symptoms. Staff have been told that if they have symptoms to stay at home and don’t come to work. We have stringent guidelines in place related to coming to work and reporting. Although we know this is not a full-proof solution due to potential asymptomatic cases, it is proactive and helpful in preventing and reducing spread of the virus. Additionally, staff members are required to wear gloves in cases where they interact with public. All First Service Residential employees have been vigorously trained in how to prevent spreading or contracting the virus and, to date, not a single staff member has tested positive for the virus. We have taken extensive actions to sanitize facilities and equipment. Two fogging machines were purchased and the facilities that are open to residents and employees are sanitized with these foggers on a regular basis. This requires staff to suit up in safety gear with respirators, goggles and safety clothing to protect themselves from any fumes and potentially harmful sanitizing chemicals. Staff wipe surfaces and equipment after each use with virus destroying sanitizer. In the restaurant, tables and chairs are sanitized with wipe downs and table cloth replacement after each seating. At the pool, sanitizing agents have been placed around the deck in spray bottles so users can spray and disinfect the furniture before and after they use it. This has created the need for more labor hours for staffing and additional costs for sanitizing agents and cleaning supplies. Of course, we are promoting social distancing in all facilities. At this time, the wearing of masks by patrons in the facilities has not been made mandatory but may be a consideration moving forward. As all of our lives continue to change and look different than before Covid–19, our team will continue to develop new ways of executing our duties. In many cases, we have become better and more efficient at our tasks. Staff training will develop new methods and ways to operate safely. We will continue to observe all current guidelines, and look to serve you to the very best of

Board Talk Debra Raeder-Gay, Director and Board Secretary Hello – I hope this is your best month ever! I have been charged with the task to provide some illumination about fitness during this time of COVID. First and foremost, please talk to your doctor before beginning any new fitness regime. So, you might ask, just what qualifies me to provide insight into physical fitness? So glad you asked. In addition to my full-time job as a K-12 education consultant (yes, I still work and enjoy every minute) I am a Health and Wellness Coach certified to teach yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda (look it up). I have always been physically active and in my late 30s began running 2-to-3 miles a day. During this time, I also started a regular yoga practice, which improved my running game immensely. In my late 50’s, however, I developed a hip injury and had to give up running. Without running, I needed to up my fitness game – which is when I became a Health and Wellness Coach and began to teach Yoga. I’m also certified to teach an array of Silver Sneakers classes. I was actively engaged in teaching yoga and Silver Sneakers multiple times a week when COVID struck and, well, we all know the rest of that story. Now six months into the COVID pandemic, things have not been easy, have they? I no longer race from meeting to meeting, or fitness class to fitness class, or any other activities for that matter. I sit around a lot more, becoming bleary eyed with all the zoom meetings from the comfort of my own home. Less activity means I needed to make a few adjustments to my eating habits to ensure those unwanted pounds do not begin to creep up on me. And, I’ve have had to customize my fitness regime at home which includes yoga every morning, a couple of Silver Sneakers (on-line) classes a week and I try to “walk the circle” every few days or so.

I encourage all of you to try and find ways to stay active during this time too. Did you know that just a little yoga or fitness training every day provides for a healthier body including improved flexibility, enhanced muscle tone and strength, greater endurance and vitality, stress relief and greater capacity to be calm? Try chair yoga if you are new to yoga or have difficulty getting up and down from the floor. Try to walk more even if it is just around your home; put on some music and dance; drink more water; do some light aerobics and weight training (find an on-line yoga or Silver Sneakers class – there are lots out there and they’re free); swim, and learn to meditate! A meditation practice can be a be a great tool to calm the mind and de-stress. And here are three simple things everyone can do before even getting out of bed: Express gratitude; take five long deep breaths; and smile! I hope this helped to inspire you to up your fitness game. Wishing you much health and happiness.

From the Editor’s Desk September and the promise of Autumn – cooler temperatures and the great weather that attracts so many Americans to this part of the USA. Traditionally, this time of

Linda Wright

year is known as the “start of the season” for Corte Bella. Activities and events gear up on the sports courts and in our social hall. Corte Bella welcomes back those seasonal residents and our community comes alive with the preparations for the upcoming holiday season.

Well, this year may not be exactly what it used to be before the nationwide and worldwide health crisis. It’s an over-used phrase but it remains the case: bear with everything for a bit longer. Things will improve and life will return to what is called “normal” if we all do what needs to be done. Rest assured that your HOA Board of Directors are working hard to protect both our residents and our community’s resources, amenities and financial standing. Cooperation and patience are two qualities that every Corte Bella resident needs to invest in these days, as well as compassion and empathy for all who reside here. May we all continue to work together and stand strong here in the west valley. Peace and good health to you and yours.

CULINARY

On the Road Again, the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada Deborah Damery Lazear, CSW Corte Bella has a large population of Canadians living here, mostly seasonal, but I am one of the permanent residents. Every summer we go to British Columbia to see family and explore the burgeoning wine region of the Okanagan Valley. The southernmost point is in the Sonoran Desert! The Okanagan is also famous for its apples and peaches,. Travelling there is easy. Fly into the Vancouver International Airport or Kelowna’s regional airport. The best driving tour to take is the Okanagan Corridor. It starts in Osoyoos near the U.S. border and wanders north along miles of lake views through the towns of Oliver, Penticton, Summerland, Peachland, Kelowna, Lake County and ends in Vernon. Kelowna is a great city to use as your home base. It has plenty of restaurants and hotels, and is centrally based for your travels. Besides the wineries, be sure to stop at the Myra Canyon, a section of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail. The Okanagan “Feast of Fields” is held in Kelowna in August. The “Festival of the Grape” is in Oliver in September. “Light Up the Vines” takes place in Summerland in November. Even more surprising than the sheer variety of wine grapes that flourish in BC is the fact that they grow at all! Just north of latitude 50 (which runs through Germany’s Rhine Valley), it is perfect for white grapes like Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier and Gewürztraminer. The best known red grapes are Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. And, don’t forget to sample the famous ice wines celebrated during the “Winter Festival of Wine”. The Okanagan is home to over 200 wineries and more than 8,600 planted acres. The valley runs north-south for 150 miles, following a chain of lakes bordered by low hills. The last ice age glaciers deposited a mix of gravel, silt and sand; excellent for growing grapes.

The first post-prohibition vineyard was planted in Kelowna around 1927. In 1990, the province adopted the Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) as a standard of quality. In 1988, the Canadian government helped with the cost of replanting the old vines and replacing them with European vinifera grapes. The production of red and white wines splits almost exactly down the middle. The whites have a vivid acidity and the reds show high tannins. The Okanagan receives two extra hours of sunlight daily compared with the Napa Valley and that compensates for late budbreak and a shortened harvest. The south gets as few as 6 inches of rain per year and the north a meager 12 inches. Wineries to visit in the south in Osoyoos Lake Bench are Nk’Mip Cellars, Poplar Grove Winery. In Naramata Bench visit the Elephant Island Orchard Winery. The north wineries include Gray Monk Estate Winery, Cedar Creek Estate Winery, Sumac Ridge, Jackson-Triggs, Inniskillin Okanagan, Quails’ Gate Estate Winery, and Mission Hills. Great sips, eh?!

Earnest Lee Barrs III – the Anacapa’s Grateful Cook looking to leave his sous chef position at Copper Canyon. Earnest is very satisfied with his work in the Anacapa and thoroughly enjoys the staff he works with every day. He says that his workdays pass pleasantly due to great management and excellent co-workers. Also, he very much enjoys the residents who frequent the Anacapa. Earnest came to the culinary arts after strong influence by the nurturing women of his youth. His grandmother and mother provided him with his love of creating good food. Through watching and learning, he felt the enjoyment of cooking. He took classes to learn his craft. One of his four sisters is an accomplished chef, who guided him towards this career. Earnest

Earnest Lee Barrs, III What an appropriate name for this young man who currently is the kitchen evening supervisor in the Anacapa restaurant. The word “earnest” is defined as showing depth and sincerity of feeling. These qualities are very much in evidence when speaking with Earnest, who has been working here in Corte Bella for the past two and half years. Earnest was born in Chicago, Illinois but moved to Arizona when he was in his teenage years and graduated in 2005 from high school in Phoenix. He is living near Corte Bella in the Happy Valley-Lake Pleasant area. He’s single but has a 12 year old son who is entering the sixth grade and lives close by. Earnest states that “this child is the very best part of waking up each day and is the most wonderful boy I have ever known.” Earnest loves being a father. Connections between chefs brought Earnest to the Anacapa after he was

is very sincere when he gives credit to these influential women and he is firm in his belief that they are the reason for him being where he is today. Earnest would like at some point to join with his sister and open his own concept restaurant. He would love to “put my touch” on the industry that he so appreciates. Earnest believes that being a chef is a beautiful profession. He states that you “can’t put a price” on the reward of making an entrée, a dessert or preparing a banquet that puts a smile on the customer’s face. The Anacapa is lucky to have this pleasant and kind man in the kitchen.

Budget results for June show a positive variance of $45,069 year to date. We continue to see favorable trends in the areas of adminstration, facilites and landscape. Therefore, we have not had to dip into Retained Earnings. Unfavorable results are in those budget categories most impacted by the Covid 19 Pandemic, with the exception of the guardhouse. We had $6,589 repair to the back gate in May that was miscoded to Operating Expenses rather than Reserves. The Anacapa,

the pool, the spa and the sports courts have recently been opened to our resident’s guests to try and increase revenue in those areas. The Board will continue to meet monthly to review and adjust our operations as needed. These are difficult times which call for difficult decisions. Our primary driver is the need to keep our community as safe as possible.

Classified Ads David Wright, CB Web Support Team The CB website supports and encourages the use of Classified Ads. It’s a quick and effective – and absolutely free - way to buy and sell personal items. The Classifieds tab in the main menu provides the tools needed to post an ad. Three options are available on the dropdown menu under this tab: •

View or Search Classifieds

Selecting this option presents a list of all items currently posted to the website. It also provides a couple search options that save time paging through the list. •

Submit a Classified

This option brings up a template used to describe the item(s) desired or for sale. It does allow for up to two photos of listed items. •

Guidelines for Classified Ads

All users should read this page before posting a Classified Ad on the website. As the name implies, it sets forth the guidelines for using this free service.

A website administrator reviews all submissions and posts those which fall within approved guidelines, daily. Approved ads are generally posted within 24 hours of receipt. The administrator will contact the submitter any time an ad is deemed to not fall within approved guidelines. In addition to offering items for sale or for requesting items to purchase, the Classifieds allow you to list your home for sale or rent (as allowed by HOA governing documents) and to sponsor an event. Check out the Classified Ads Guidelines for a complete list of approved and prohibited subjects.

What is a Concept Approval Request? David Wright, LTPC Chair Corte Bella is a vibrant community of around 3,000 residents who represent an incredibly wide range of skills and talents. But only seven can serve on the Board of Directors at any given time. In an attempt to tap those resources, the Board of Directors formalized a process – the Concept Approval Request (CAR) – for residents to submit projects and concepts for consideration.

The system works; as attested to by the following CARS, the first four of which have already been implemented:

Any property owner, interest group or chartered club may submit a CAR. After a CAR has been vetted through all relevant Board committees (finance, buildings and grounds, architectural review, neighborhood awareness and safety, and technology), the Board will vote to accept and implement the request (in total or in part) or to reject it. The Long-Term Planning Committee (LTPC) coordinates & starts the vetting process for all CARs.

4. Wedding Fountain Beautification Project

CARs are recorded and tracked by the HOA staff as they are vetted. (This process is detailed in 20190318 Concept Approval Request (CAR) Policy and Procedures which is in the Corte Bella website Resource Center under Governing Documents -> Policies -> Policies Currently in Effect.) A copy of the CAR form is available on the same website under HOA -> Online Forms.

1. Creation & Staffing of a Lifestyle Manager Position 2. Patio Furniture Powder Coating 3. Additional Chairs for Sports Courts/Lanai Area 5. Anacapa Restaurant Enhancement 6. Social Hall Enhancement 7. Fitness Center Enhancement 8. HOA Office, Conference Facility, Maintenance Facility Redesign 9. Sports Facility Expansion Submission is as simple as downloading the form, printing it, filling it out, and submitting it to the HOA General Manager. If you have an idea that you think might benefit the entire community, submit it in a CAR. Be prepared to do your homework however and work to submit as complete a request as possible with emphasis on how the project will be funded.

In This Time of Need, SOuL Finds A Way to Help Linda Wright, SOuL member Smiling Out Loud (SOuL), Corte Bella’s Ladies Charity Support Organization, continued its efforts to provide assistance to worthy organizations operating in the West Valley.

left to right, Carla Smith (SOuL President), Captain Kathy Merritt (Salvation Army Sun Cities West Valley Corps) and Carol Courter (SOuL Vice President)

In July, SOuL donated $1,000 to the Salvation Army Sun Cities West Valley Corps to use with their Back to School backpacks filled with supplies project. These are given out to 500 needy school children from the Dysart and Peoria school districts.

In addition, the Valley View Food Bank received a donation of $1,000 to be used to replenish their supplies and help with the ever increasing demand for food assistance to the needy. Also, SOuL reached out to the Arizona Fire and Medical Authority Station 103, located on Deer Valley Road near the

front gates of Corte Bella. SOuL is so grateful for the quick, calm, and professional services of these first responders during emergencies. Within their mandated guidelines for receiving donations, they requested a rowing machine to further their physical fitness regimen. SOuL happily provided the equipment. (A special thank you goes to Scott Kennedy for making the purchasing arrangements.)

Carol Courter and Carla Smith present a donation to Valley View Community Foodbank founder and President, Jesse Ramirez.

Important note to our community: SOuL would like to advise that due to the ongoing pandemic CDC and State of Arizona restrictions and public health concerns, the 5th Annual SOuL Chili Cook Off scheduled for Monday, November 2nd will be rescheduled for a date (to be determined) in February 2021. SOuL regrets the postponement but we are confident that our annual fund raising event will be another amazing success once conditions are appropriate for us to host this event.

Corte Bella Adventure Group Steve Downing Covid-19 has affected all parts of our lives, and the activities of the Adventure Group were not exempt. First change was to cease carpooling or at least to give hikers the choice of carpool or driving themselves to the trailhead. Regional park trails remained open; however, we did try to maintain social distancing on the trails. Our Sunday morning bike rides through Sun City West also had participants maintaining social distance during the ride and during our midpoint break. We were easily able to interact with each other from the magical 6-foot distance. Sedona actually closed several popular trails due to their popularity and the overcrowding making it difficult to provide social distancing. During a hike this past spring, we did have Red Rock Ranger District police show up to the trailhead to judge the number of people using the trail and how well the group we were hiking with maintained the required social distancing. We were afraid they might close the trail before we had a chance to get out of sight. For the upcoming Adventure Group season, we will certainly practice safety and provide for personal choice on the comfort level in being around other people. I know we all wait for the vaccine so life can get somewhat back to normal. This coming Corte Bella Adventure Group season will be mostly hikes already

done at some point over the last few years. We will introduce at least a couple new hikes and still keep our bike rides to the Arizona Biltmore and Tempe Town Lake.

A favorite is the Sunday Morning Bike ride on the Sun City West Bike Trail. This distance is approximately 20 miles and no drop, which means no one will get left behind. The start time will change as the temperatures cool down heading into winter and then into spring. If you are new to Corte Bella, come join us, meet new friends, get some exercise and enjoy the beauty of what nature has given us in Arizona.

The Verde Valley Beckons One way to mitigate the pain of the COVID-19 restrictions that make a walk around the Corte Bella loop the highlight of your day is to visit Cottonwood and Jerome in the heart of Arizona’s Verde Valley. We recently took a 2-day mini-vacation there and it proved quite therapeutic and rejuvenating. Moreover, it was safe as people and businesses adhered to State and Federal public health COVID-19 guidelines. It’s only a couple hours drive north of Corte Bella and well worth the trip. If you like winding/twisting/curvy roads and some pretty amazing vistas you should take SR 89A from Wickenburg to Jerome. It’s 114 miles and takes about 2.5 hours by car. We preferred the straighter (and less scenic) I-17N – SR 260W to Cottonwood which is slightly quicker (1.5 hours/95 miles). Regardless of which route you prefer, Jerome is only 9 miles away from Cottonwood (on SR 89A).

Both towns lie in the heart of the Verde Valley copper mining district. The mines have run dry but the towns have evolved and adapted. Jerome has become a mecca for arts and the supernatural. Cottonwood boasts some fine wine tasting venues supplied by the many vineyards throughout the valley. Both have their share of tourist shops and good restaurants for some unique dining experiences. The place to stay in Jerome is the Surgeon’s House (see photos of the house and gardens). It’s a four room B&B located on Hill St. Owned and operated by Andrea Prince, it boasts spacious, beautiful grounds which include several ponds stocked with koi, some of which look more like Muskies than carp. The gardens offer a serene setting to view the sun setting over the valley. Andrea

There are many interesting shops in Jerome. A must see is Nelly Bly II, right in the center of Main St., which offers a wide assortment of kaleidoscopes and other interesting merchandise. In Cottonwood, we stayed at the Tavern Hotel, also on Main Street. It offers large, comfortable rooms with balconies as well as individual cabañas. It has a small exercise room and a nice outdoor pool. The bar/restaurant attached to the hotel offers a nice range of food and beverages at reasonable prices. But it’s not the only place to eat. There are many other restaurants within a short walk of the hotel. Nic’s Italian Steak & Crab House, Crema Craft Kitchen, and the Merkin Vineyards Tasting Room and Osteria are just a few of the places to eat. We had lunch at the Merkin Osteria, dinner at the Tavern Grill and breakfast the next morning at Crema. All were excellent. Our favorite was the breakfast at Crema. Garden view from the Surgeon’s House in Jerome is a renowned cook in her own right and she puts out a breakfast that is simply delicious. Her parlor and rooms are stocked with a wide assortment of reading material and a collection of albums she put together detailing the history of the house and the city. They make for quite interesting reading.

Cottonwood’s main street.

We had dinner at the Asylum restaurant inside the Grand Hotel at the end of Hill St. The food and the service were good and the bartender went out of his way to whip up something special for one of our party. The hotel is reputed to be haunted and might prove interesting for those brave enough to spend the night there. Some interesting places to have lunch include the Haunted Hamburger Shop and the Bordello. The latter is run by a nice young Hispanic couple but the cuisine, surprisingly, is mostly Mediterranean. (There are more, but we found these quite good.)

Like Jerome, Cottonwood is full of small interesting touristy shops. Additionally, if you wanted to add another day to the trip you could take a short drive southeast along Cornville Road where there are a number of very nice wineries and tasting rooms in the Cornville and Page Springs area. Call ahead first because some are limiting the number of visitors due to the recent pandemic. The Tavern Hotel can provide you with a list of the wineries, their locations and contact information. And the trip would not be considered a success without a stop on the way home at the Rock Springs Café (near Black Canyon City) for some delicious pies to take back. You can buy them by the pie or by the slice. They are reputed to be some of the best pies ever eaten by Corte Bellans. Just take the Rock Springs Rd exit off I-17S and you can’t miss the little strip mall that houses the café. All in all, you’ll spend a very pleasant and comfortable couple days in a beautiful setting.

A Carpet of a Different Sort Linda Wright

Staci McEnnan’s Creativity Comes to Life Inspiration for decorating one’s home can be found in many places. For Corte Bella resident, Staci McEnnan, what was on the floor of the Ventura County main library provided her with just what she was looking for to make a “statement” in her Arizona home. When she saw the hand-painted tile flooring in that California city library, she set out to create something else that would be truly unique. She contacted Janine Waldbaum, owner and artist, of the Malibu Tile Works to commission her to paint the tiles for her “carpet” for her home’s living room. Staci submitted her own design which resulted in a beautiful hand-painted rendition of her concept. Staci then had to find a tile setter to install the 8’ by 11’ “carpet”. After some research and collecting bids for the task, she found a very enterprising and skilled young man to do the work. (He is from Albania, was a medical student in his native country and who hopes to save enough money to resume his medical studies here in Arizona). Staci is well pleased with her investment in this work of art that lays on the floor of her home’s main room. She stated that this will ensure “I will never move.” Certainly, this is a conversation piece that will not soon lose its appeal. Anyone who would like more information about the tile work or the interesting tile setter from Albania, please email Staci at smcennan@gmail.com. Birds in Paradise (Part Nine) Jeanne Gowan & Nate Gowan Birdwatching has increased in popularity during this pandemic. According to Cornell Lab of Ornithology, bird sighting observations used in conservation and science has increased 46% since March 2020. Also, downloads of Cornell’s free Merlin Bird ID app have increased by 90% this year.

Hassayampa provides a cooler spot in the hot Arizona summer. Large trees that line the trails provide plenty of shade. Early morning is the best time for birdwatching because birds, like people, reduce their activities during the hottest part of the day. Be sure to bring a camera and binoculars, and also bring your cell phone. It’s now possible to identify birds by their calls thanks to a new free app called BirdNET. Birds also seek large trees to roost in during the heat. We are blessed to have plenty of roosting spots in Corte Bella. An avid birdwatcher and resident of Corte Bella found a favorite roosting spot for a family of Great Horned Owls near one of our walking paths. While they roost during the day, owls hunt nearby at night. They prey upon small rodents, rabbits and lizards, but are also attracted to small pets who live along the golf course; be alert! Yes, bird watching has kept us entertained, and sane, while staying safe during the months of the pandemic.

Great Horned Owl Why has birdwatching become so popular? Obviously, it is easy to social distance while birding. It also allows a pent up population to get outside for some much needed exercise. Last month, we suggested the Hassayampa River Preserve. One member of the photography club took that advice and discovered a nesting Streak-backed Oriole. Her photo was confirmed by the Arizona Field Ornithologists and Cornell Ornithology Lab as the first ever recorded nest in Maricopa County and farthest north in Arizona for the species.

HEALTH & FITNESS

Corte Bella Pickleball News Mary Blome

The diehards are still playing pickleball - (at 6:30 am) in this sweltering heat and they are enjoying themselves! I would like to introduce our two new Corte Bella Pickleball Club board members. I also want to express a huge thank you to Ron Johnson and Cynthia Michaud for their service on the board. It will be difficult to fill your shoes.

Carolyn Packan, Treasurer

Carolyn Packan – Treasurer: I grew up in Wisconsin, and earned a teaching degree in Physical Education at the University of WisconsinLaCrosse. After teaching for a few years, my husband and I ran a solid wood furniture store in the Chicagoland area. As owners we did everything: sales, accounting, deliveries, furniture finishing. Five years ago, we retired and moved to Corte Bella. I quickly discovered the

fun game of Pickleball. I played almost every day and entered some tournaments, winning a few medals along the way. I also served on the Pickleball Club board for two years as vicepresident. During that time I worked with Rudy Black to update the Pickleball bylaws. It will be fun to serve on the board again. Mike Cranston – Secretary: Sara and I were fortunate to have found our home in Corte Bella five years ago. We moved here from Redmond, WA, a Seattle suburb. Our two daughters and three grandchildren reside in Washington State. For over 25 years I was in the boat business representing Ocean Alexander yachts, and later, Westport yachts. I was introduced to Pickleball at a beginners clinic Mike Cranston, Secretary here in Corte Bella. I’m looking forward to the day we can once again introduce others to this growing sport. Fun game and great people.

Corte Bella Tennis Club News Donna Norton

Tennis Clinics are back despite the COVID-19 pandemic. We are fortunate to have a non-contact sport that regularly keeps opponents at a distance. It is important for us to continue the obvious things like hand washing/sanitizing, avoid touching your face or other surfaces and during play please note the following important guidelines: • No post-match handshakes or high fives. • Wipe down and disinfect racquets, gate handles, and all equipment after use. • Wear masks when in close proximity to each other. After a summer in Logan, where the Utah State Women’s Tennis team resides and their coaches put on regular clinics (four days a week), I have newfound knowledge on stroke improvement, game strategy, movement, and the joy of playing a game for all ages. Unfortunately, I still have bad habits. Join fellow Corte Bella residents who are just learning, wanting to brush up on their game, or meet up with other tennis players. Day: Wednesday Starting: September 2nd Time: 7:00 a.m. (until the heat is gone) Place: Court 4 Only do what feels “comfortable” to you!

(left to right) Ed Miller, Donna Norton and Sarah Cranston at a tennis skills clinic. Other opportunities to play include drop in on MondayWednesday-and Friday, Tuesday Tennis with the Ladies (men are welcome), Team Tennis for both Men and Women at various levels, plus Corte Bella Tennis Club tournaments and activities.
