PORA (Looking Out For You)

If you are an adult with a passion for lifelong learning, you’ve come to the right place! Learning never ends; at least, it shouldn’t. In the past, many of us had to focus on education as a pathway to career or financial success. Imagine if you were free to learn virtually anything you want. What would you want to understand better? What skills have you wanted to develop or try but haven’t had the chance? What has piqued your interest that you haven’t learned enough about? Learning is a lifelong journey, and you are now freer to learn than you ever have been before. PORA Education, or PEP as we like to call ourselves, provides programs for ongoing learning. Sun City West, Corte Bella, Sun City Grand, and all nearby communities can take advantage of events, special interest groups, and courses in art, gardening, financial planning, and much more! And ... you do not need to be a PORA member to enjoy our classes. Everyone is welcome. Starting in September for our Fall classes, we will offer two types of learning experiences: Events and Classes. PORA EVENTS

PORA is proud to host a new series of free events each month, starting in September. Every month is dedicated to a specific topic requested by our own residents with presentations from community experts and PORA cited vendors. Join us each month for Coffee and Donuts at 9:00 AM. Meet our panel of experts for an open Q & A from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. More in-depth breakout sessions from each expert in separate classrooms follow from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM. While each monthly event is free, registration, to hold your seat/place is required in advance. September 13 (Monday) – Gardening and Landscaping

Learn about pot and planter gardening, everything irrigation from a real expert, landscape design from a pro, DIY artificial turf (for pets and patio), best trees, best plants for AZ – and much more! October 18 (Monday) – Financial Planning

Every answer to reverse mortgages, wills, and trusts, investing, taxes, extended healthcare, and more.

November 15 (Monday) – Construction and Renovation

DIY CAD and 3D design, the scoop from real contractors, an even bigger scoop about contracts from AZROC, where to get your lot plot and house plans, scams, new stuff-kitchens. December 13 (Monday) – Christmas With Critters

Everything about those critters you see in your backyards and more! Meet them live an in-person as they are presented and described by the AZ Herpetological Society, AZ Wildlife Rescue, and AZ Fish and Game. Bring the grandkids if they are visiting – they will love it, too.

Again – space is limited – be sure to register!

Join us for a fun and enlightening Fall.
