GINA KRAWEZ Fort Payne, AL State Street Area Art Fair Painting | Booth B554

It all started with a couch. My husband and I remodeled a house which had a fabulous, gray wall begging to be complete. I devised a plan based on the room and had my husband build a large panel out of wood. My first piece was painted in my kitchen with one end supported by a trash can. I come from a family of creative people and believe creativity is in your blood. The amount of exposure toward your God-given ability helps it develop. When I was young, I was allowed in my mother's studio only if I was quiet, helped, or brought her a snack. So I became the 'Head Palette Cleaner.' I'm always mesmerized by the blending and bleeding of colors when the water hit them (that motion, fluidity and transparency of colors merging together). Today, I transfer my love of fluid motion through acrylic paint on wood panels. My paintings reflect movement, depth and fluidity. The use of reflective metallics, transparencies and texture capture light and motion, like a multi-faceted diamond. My work is acrylic on cradled wood panels that are custom built. All my work consists of layers of translucent washes, accented with metallic paint. Some techniques are conventional (including the use of palette knives, brushes, etc.) and some non-conventional techniques for dragging and cutting paint (I've even used a 24" concrete brush for one of my pieces). They are then sealed with three layers of glossy clear coat. Art Showcase Magazine / www.ArtShowcaseMagazine.com
